Parts of "Brave" I worked onMany people have asked what parts of the film "Brave" I worked on so I figured it might be best just to post a journal entry about it. Warning... if you have not seen the film there might be some spoilers in this.Parts of "Brave" I worked on3 years ago in Personal More Like This
My role on the film was "Master Lighting Artist" but my general role is "LIghting Technical Director". Don't let the word "director" confuse you. I am not the head of lighting, it's just a term for every Lighting Artist that means our job tends to be technical and most of the "directing" I'm doing is kicking computers to get them to do what I want. For those who do not know what "lighting" means on a 3D animated film let me give a quick description. Pixar movies are not hand drawn like traditional animation. They more closely resemble stop motion film where a physical 3 dimensional puppet is made, a set is built, real lights are put in place and then an animator moves the puppet slightly then takes a picture, moves it again and takes another picture, until you have a whole "s

Somehow, this silly page has hit 9 million views!
Just to be absolutely clear, I do not think the views make me any better than anyone else. I mean, I'm sure some of those are from people who don't even like me. But I guess my point is that it's crazy to imagine that this page has been opened up that many times, and I can't help wondering where all these hits have come from. And I just feel so grateful that a select few people in those millions have come to be irreplaceable friends to me.
It's been a wild ride with all of you guys through all this time. To me this isn't just a page where I simply showcase my artwork or the cosplay photos my friends and I come up with. This site has opened up so many opportunities for me, and has introduced me to some of the most wonderful people I've met in my life.
It's been a journey, and my interactions with the people here have taught me more than I can express.
Apart from that, one thing I absolutely did not ex
average pay rates for comic book artists:"Generally, the good graphic novels fetch $100 - $300 per page, although professionals who have been in the industry for a long time can command as much as three times that amount. In fact, one elite illustrator commanded as much as $1,000 a page (on a 22-page comic book)! Most of the popular titles that artists, like David Cassaday, work on are monthly issues, which end up providing him with a six-figure salary. The back-end royalties on merchandise, trade paperbacks and movie royalties are also generous."average pay rates for comic book artists:1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Pencil and inker artists can ask for $75 to $200 a page. Colorists often fall in the range of $35 to $125, and writers and letterers make $10 to $50 a page. Season EnderYellow~! Its been awhile since I made a write-up for my gallery (more than a year?).Season Ender1 year ago in Personal More Like This
2013 has been a very busy year for me because of work and freelance (mobile app development) --- causing me to hibernate in photography for more than seven (7) months.
Aside from work, my favourite lens (Tokina UWA) got himself some fungus and my EOS 1000D got injured (like hot-shoe problem and sensor dust) --- as a result, I end up rejecting every invitation because I don't have any gear to use on --- and it took me awhile to send it to a server centre because of tight schedule
On a brighter side, I think this incident is nice because I still have some awful backlogs to catch-up with from 2012.
PICKING A NEW CAMERA
SO FAST FORWARD: Finally I got myself an editing device (a Macbook Pro for obvious reasons) and a new camera (Fuji X100S) because of my freelance.
Lots of my friends are asking me :
"Why pick a non-interchangeable camera…?"
"Why pick X100S..?"

On misunderstandings about cosplayThis is a topic I've been meaning to talk about for quite a while now. I finally got the motivation to when Sarah sorairo-days emailed me to share my thoughts on what cosplay means to me, and what I feel it really means to be a cosplayer despite all the misconceptions about the hobby. It's for this article on Random Nerds, in which Sarah shares her side of it as well.On misunderstandings about cosplay3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Over the years, I've witnessed how cosplayers are constantly looked down upon, which makes people apprehensive towards it. It's such a shame because it's a wonderful and rewarding hobby which brings people together. And in general, I am firmly against making anyone feel bad about doing something they want to do.
I am aware that the concept of cosplay might be too much for some individuals, but our intention definitely isn't to get all up in everyone's faces and say everyone should cosplay or whatever. We just want to promote a

''First, let’s talk about Bayonetta, the “modern witch”, and this game’s main character. Those who played the previous title are likely to notice that her trademark hairstyle has been given a complete makeover. After talking with Hashimoto and Kamiya, the three of us came to the conclusion Bayonetta’s not the kind of girl who’d show up with the same hairstyle for her sequel. A girl can be known to change her hairstyle depending on her mood, so I guess Bayonetta was in the mood for something short. Still, knowing her, there’s no telling when she’ll decide to change it again.
Bayonetta’s overall theme this time is “Solid.”
"She’s still wearing black, and I think her shorter hair gives her a generally more masculine look. While her design in the last game focused on curves, this time we see more straight lines. All of her accessories follow this, exc
Spongebob Animated AtrocitiesSo I went through all of the Spongebob episodes, and marked the ones that I know are bad as animated atrocities. Do you know how many I found? No seriously, guess. 84. And then I went through it again and counted 89. Let me say that these are the ones that I've seen (I'm unfamiliar with most of season 8 and 9). You don't believe me? You seriously don't believe me? Here's a list of all of the animated atrocities that I've counted and a brief reason to why they're an atrocity. i have seen in my life many artists who proclaimed they want to develop their skills, and kept bashing on everyone and everything on the way....and for some reason those guys never got anywhere...
here is why..
there is a value to different approaches, different styles. realism, manga , cartooney disney, my little pony, furries....don't waste your time tryint to bash any of the stuff you don't personally like
you are missing out, bigtime!
see there is a reason why that stuff is popular. and by that i mean on the visual side. so instead of flaming , trolling and bashing, try understanding the inner workings of it.
here are some specific examples
realism- it is a wonderfully complex base , reflects one's skill in capturing reality, but in it there are differences between photo referenced, real life work and no reference. ALL HAVE THEIR VALUE AND IMPORTANCE! from photos you can learn alot, gain analytic skills, develop an attention to

• ART PHILOSOPHY - TRUTH, and INTEGRITY - *as inspired by the insightful words of Rob Liefeld.
The Truth is that the artist, amateur and potential professional alike, may be taught according to the ideal. But no matter how hard you study, or how long you train... No matter all the knowledge you amass, the talent you possess, and the skills you hone, the subjective taste of the public presides over all commercial endeavor. The public, the layman, the viewer, the fan may kno

There's Nothing we can do. Nothing
But thats okay- Because they can't simply come in and take away the Dante, the emotions, the love, the hate, the frustration of being stuck on Vergils last battle and finally screaming "TAKE THAT YOU WHORE!!!!" at the screen at the end of the game!!!! No. They can't.. they can't take what they've already given us.
This new game is much like a cold: All we have to do is lay back, relax and it'll go away.
I can't wait for it to come out- perhaps if not many people enjoy it they may realize how many are outraged.
I complain not. Its a good thing I'm not a Devil...
Because I'm bawling. Crying. Sobbing. All and any derivitives for the tears inside me. To be a nerd and quote the song I'm sobbing to: "The tears inside me calm me down"
Thinking about that reminds me of DMC3's last few cutscenes...

There seems to be a growing tribalism in what, for now, we’re often labeling ‘Geekdom’ - or some other reclaimed formerly derogatory term.
A few examples:
There’s a healthy debate about sexism in comic, and the edges of what is an ingrained misogynistic streak that goes back decades.
There’s also a number of very buxom and proud of it cosplayers creating incredible, intentionally sexy costumes for comic conventions.
(Re. the points above: The debate gets hazy in the area that sexy and sexist butt-up against each other – no pun intended. What is cheesecake? What is pin-up? What is erotica? What is porn? What is artistic nude? You can’t simply say I know it when I see it. To some the statue of David is offensive! Either way, the debate rages while pin-up art vies with big-name superhero imagery as the easiest to sell. I can’t budge any pages that don’t feature either, or, or both of
