There was a post on tumblr poking fun at people who say that "digital art isn't real art" and it made me think about how DUMB you have to be if you really think that.
I don't understand, I mean do they think you press a button and it makes magical art? No. That's not how it works. It takes time and effort just like if you were drawing on paper or painting. I've painted a picture before, and to be honest, its pretty much the same exact thing as drawing something on sai. You colour with layers, and you make more and more layers on top of that until boom you're done. A normal picture for me usually has about 30 something layers in the end, and I merge some of them, too. This picturehas 39 layers. It took me about 2 days to do. I didn't press the magical button on sai to do it for me.
This picturetook 44 layers and also like 2 days. I don't see how its not "art" just because I drew it on the computer

Homestuck in particular, since it's independent and not corporately-owned, and it's intelligent and complex as hell and doesn't talk down to anyone. We need a lot more entertainment like that. We need a lot less people telling suspicious stories which may or may not have actually happened and saying the entire fandom is like that.
Both Homestuck and My Little Pony have something in common - What non-fans see when they look at the characters is very different from what fans see. It takes a long time for Homestuck to really get going, so people see a very simply, perhaps even "poorly" drawn comic in which nothing ever happens.

We also live in a media-saturated culture. When you're watching something engineered to make money, the rough edges get smoothed away and things get dumbed down to make it more palatable for mass consumption. It's easy to make that mental leap from "this is dumbed-down" and "this is all owned" to "the world is dumbed-down" and "I am owned."
But the world doesn't change that quickly. You go outside and there's still the same sun, the same grass. If the media wants you to be a brainless consumer, that doesn't affect you or change anything about how you are..

I have been playing Pokémon Platinum lately and I have decided that I want a shiny Giratina. I've never found a shiny in Pokémon and I want one! :iconlatantrumplz:
I have tried the chaining thing and I have tried breeding using the MM method and I have yet to get one. I figured that the one that would take the least amount of time and effort would be soft resetting with a modest Abra in the lead (for Synchro reasons. I'm hoping for a shiny, modest Giratina).
I am somewhere around 8 days of soft resetting and still I am a shiny-Giratina-free-environmentIt's not very hard and/or time consuming really.

This is not directed at any one person, I have seen this happen often between many artists here on DA, and it doesnt bother everyone, but its something that can hurt another persons feelings so...here we go.
As I spend my time here on DA, I have come to notice that some artists, when commenting on others art, some people go ahead and say certain comments that arent really very pleasant to hear, honest or not.
"This is better than I can do"
"I wish I could draw as good as you"
"I suck at drawing this stuff, you're better"
Anything along that line.
Please, keep in mind.
More often than not, those artists that "cant draw as good as ___" actually PASS those artists in skill later on.
AS LONG AS THEY REMAIN POSITIVE!

One of these journals cause I'm finally tipsy while having access to the internet. Normally my spelling improves with alcohol (weird, I know) but tonight beer seems to be hitting my system harder than normal (which means letters start to replace others at times so my spelling goes back to normal). I don't even know what to ramble about hahahahaha. Stuff I guess? Pretty darn excited to move and get back to school and such. I mean, come on, I have a frickin' COMIC CLASS. HECK YEAH. Plus I am really enjoying just learning art things. Hated high school with such passion, but I still did well. Kinda feel rewarding to have fun at school for once, ya know?

guysOkay, I probably have no right to dictate what is and isn't pixel art (I don't even do it ((often))), but I don't think that drawing a picture as you normally would but with the binary tool in Paint Tool SAI = pixel art.
