Behold! The Hurricane 5 -Class Heavy Cruiser! It is 6 kilometers long and packs 14 HUUUGE double barreled plasma turrets and 2 SUPER LONG beam cannons in the nose. Very little can stand up to this behemoth! Fear it not for its size, but for their numbers! There are 60 active with another 60 just waiting to tear the galaxy apart! These ships are part of my Freespace 2 mod: Silent Dawn 5: Final Life. A completely unique and 100% created by me universe. It draws many inspirations from many different sci-fi settings but is predominantly unique!
Actually, at first i thought about making a proper UVW map since i got an interesting offer for texturing this, BUT this model, never planned for uvw mapping is not uvw mappable Because most faces are disconnected and several "active" boole and symetry modifiers mess it up completely, for some arcane reason, when converted to solid mesh, the complete face landscape just turns into utter mess (basicly, i select a face somewhere and that is not the face PHYSICALLY at that position... hows that for an bug

I added some things i had from my last spacescape, generally, i do like this light/texture setup, but i guess tastes differ, detail is lost due to dirt/darkness and, to my shame, this texture looks best from afar Since this ship is about 1/300th the size of my LAST frigate and i actually had planned to make a scene with both ships and then Some...
Yeah Enough brabbling
- Basicly after quite some time i textured this more or less with some VERY heavy shader workings, sadly i cant seem to find a proper AF option for the renderer making it blur out at the back.. beats me why
- At first i was planning on making it White/Reddish plated (like a medic ship ) but this doesnt really work well (next to my other frigate it looks like a glowing BLOB :/ )
- This has 130k Polygons and consists of 460 Objects (one more reasons against UVW mapping )
