This year marks the 50th anniversary of the classic favorite "Breakfast at Tiffany's. As a special tribute, I am pleased to create a custom face up of Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly.

Full facial repaint and shading as well as extensive hair style make over to replicate the features of Ms. Hepburn as Holly as she appeared in the movie.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

With the release of Tonner Company's New Moon-inspired Edward and the Birthday Bella Swan with a brand new sculpt, my inspiration to create continues, especially with the challenge of repainting the brand new Bella sculpt released by the manufacturer just this year.

Full facial repaint and shading as well as extensive hair style make over to replicate the features of the characters and the delicate nuances of their emotions evoked particularly based on the Bella's paper cut birthday scene

The inset photos on the bottom portion show the mass produced version of the dolls as they were originally released.

These two dolls are inspired by two of my favorite movie characters - Miranda Priestly as portrayed by Meryl Streep and Andrea Sachs as played by Anne Hathaway from the film "The Devil Wears Prada".

Full facial repaint and shading as well as extensive hair style make over to replicate the features of the characters and the subtle nuances of lifelike expressions.

WHITNEY HOUSTON TRIBUTE: (1963 - 2012)

---- Farewell and thank you to an artist whose music has become a soundtrack of my life in many ways.

VIOLET WATERS DOLL CHANNELS WHITNEY
(CUSTOM REPAINTED IN 2002)

Earlier in my repaint career, I found this beautiful black 15-inch doll which I thought could project the essence of my all-time favorite singer, Whitney Houston. The doll is not by any means sculpted in the likeness of Whitney, but I thought that it was fine enough to channel Whitney's features

Angelina Jolie has currently received quite a bit of attention in the media for her directorial debut of the film "In the Land of Blood and Honey". In light of that, I felt inspired to replicate her yet again in doll form, but for the first time I am creating the custom doll in 11 1/2 inch scale.

I thought I'd share a general idea of the transformation process in the creation of this Angelina Jolie repaint.

This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by the lovely Anne Hathaway in her role as Agent 99 in the film "Get Smart", particularly as she looked during the ballroom scene.

I used a 16-inch "Get Smart" Agent 99 doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company.

So, the first order of business was to completely remove factory facial painting. I then hand painted it to bring the likeness of Ms. Hathaway to life, paying careful attention to her makeup from the specific scene.

Next, I reworked her hair by trimming and thinning it down to scale.

Bottom inset photo shows the doll as it was originally produced.

I thought the Mattel 12 inch Jack Sparrow was a fantastic sculpt of Johnny Depp and so I decided to transform the doll into the iconic actor.

The inset photo at the bottom right shows the doll in its original factory state.

As with all my creations, I completely strip the original factory paint on each of the dolls, and completely repaint the facial features in, paying attention to accuracy of likeness and lifelike expressions. The doll also underwent dramatic hair restyling. Also I hand painted a total of 9 tattoos.

This celebrity doll repaint is my pesonal tribute to the quintessential Superman, Christopher Reeve, who made me believe a man could fly.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of his Superman debut in the 1978 Superman the Movie.

I used an 18-inch Superman doll produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. I t was not however particularly created in the likeness of Christopher Reeve. But then, once I removed the facial factory paint, there he was - Chris Reeve staring back at me.

After I completely removed factory facial painting. I then hand painted it to bring the likeness of Christopher Reeve as the ultimate man of steel.

Also, I wasn't very happy with the factory hairstyle, so I completely made over his hair with heat perm. His signature spit curl was very carefully created. I also sculpted his sideburns and handpainted it to give it a three dimensionality. Finally, his front hairline was also very delicately hand painted to faithfully replicate Reeve's.
