When we started this movie five years ago, I thought it would be a blast, because everything was wide open. In a world without cars, jobs, secret formulas, villains, etc. we would be able to do anything we wanted. It didn't take long for reality to sink in - this was going to be a lot tougher than we thought. Staring into this limitless world that we would build according to our rules, we were suddenly coming to grip with just how wide open this world really was. Like when you've finished all your chores and you finally find time to do a drawing - you run to your table, open your drawing pad (or your computer, if you're more modern than me) and stare into a blank page. And if you're like me, it's not very long before you are wishing you had just a few bounda

I Was Not Ready For This
What did I just sign myself up for?
I had never made, drawn, written, or created a book in my life, so this was all pretty foreign to me. I had told Heavy Metal publishing I'd do it on my own dime. Reason was, this was my project.
Not that I can't cooperate or collaborate, but this time I wanted to create what I saw in my head, and not have a voice behind me telling me what to do and what not to do. Kevin Eastman, head of HM Pub, was incredibly generous in this decision and told me to lead the way, and I tried my damnest.
So I started with the obvious fundamentals. What is the story of LMS?
Now, as a whole, LMS's simple logline is incredibly simple. A man who gets framed for a crime he didn't commit, breaks out of prison and goes after those

The first thing I had to do was create a sample. What would the pages look like? What is a Killbook?
In the story, before Gabriel breaks out of Level-9, he is introduced to an "Agent-O, a character that gives Gabriel the documents needed to begin this revenge quest. Inside of the documents are bios and information on all of the characters Gabriel will meet/team-up with/or kill.
Well, I didn't just want to show boring documents, I wanted to add life

You would think that most people who delve into pixel groups like this one would have a clear cut idea of what pixel art is, but the truth is actually the opposite: many people only have a muddy idea of what real pixel art is.
Well, let's start from the top, shall we? One bullet we can easily make is that pixel art includes the use of pixels.
The use of pixels
Okay, but what counts as a pixel and what does not? First of all, the main tool used to create pixel art is the pencil tool. Don't even think about touching that brush tool :icondivaplz:
Other tools that can be used are the eraser and, arguably, the fill/bucket tool. That's about it. If you are creating real pixel art, you cannot use tools like the paintbrush, gradient, blur tool, smudge tool, etc. Pixel art entails

Three long years... I guess it's time for a story.Edit 24.5.2014: As of now. I've just decided to get rid of the categorizing "series" prefixes on my titles. It originally came from an idea that I'd be painting or submitting a lot more content other than ponies, but that obviously didn't really happen. In the end it just looks silly and doesn't really go well with the way I want my stuff to look: less mechanical, more natural. Also it goes against my philosophy of wanting to introduce the show in a whole different light, I don't want to yell out the fact it's mlp. It just feels wrong and been continuing to do it as a habit. It especially began to grind my gears on the latest pieces where the subjects are more heavy, and so are the titles. Cutie Art Crusaders mentioned about this in one of their episodes a whiiile back, but back then my stand was simply that you're not supposed to read the categorizing prefix in the actual title.. Buut obviously that won't work in reality, it stands out too much and even the purposeThree long years... I guess it's time for a story.1 year ago in Personal More Like This

I opened a print shop!
These guys are available as prints now! I am just starting to learn how to make prints and really have only the faintest idea what I am doing. If anyone has any experience in this field and are feeling generous with their knowledge, please let me know! I have a secret dream to one day sell my work at a convention, but it is a very distant dream at the moment. :<
I would like to do a special run of postcard prints selling for 6$ each! I need at least 20 people willing to buy in order for it to happen, but if anyone is interested, pretty much all of my work here is up for grabs. Please, support thanks!

Basics Of Still Life PaintingTraditional Art WeekBasics Of Still Life Painting5 months ago in Art Features More Like This
A still life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on).
~Still Life, Wikipedia
I don't know why, but a lot of of people including me thinks it is amazing to be able to draw or paint the impression of the inanimate objects we are seeing more than portraits or scenes. Maybe because only this genre allows the artist to build his own composition and arrange the elements all by himself unlike the portraits or the landscapes.
Depicting an object to trick a viewer to think it is real but still - Hence, still life.
Apart form that, still life practice keeps us grounded with very basic rules and it eventually improves us when we draw or paint more complex things, b

There was once a time when art depicting the lands west of the Appalachian Mountains as pristine wilderness awaiting exploration was censured by church and state as distracting from more important matters of the common pieties of home life. But there have always been those who need visions of grander realms for the journeys they can only dream of experiencing, but that may one day be rest stops on their great–great–grandchildren’s celestial road maps.

So, I finally caught BRAVE on home video. I'd say that it's good, but well below the "high water mark" set by Pixar Studios over a decade ago. Sure, there's heart in this story, as well as humor. But absent is the innovation that has come to be expected of Pixar fare. Wonder. An impossible splendor that comes cleverly entwined with well-rounded characters and a sensitive core that causes the story to strike just the right resonant chord. The TOY STORY trilogy, THE INCREDIBLES, FINDING NEMO... These remain the brightest gems in Pixar's crown, but perhaps the studio's reign is at last beginning to fade? In Princess Merida we have a young girl coming of age, dissatisfied with her lot in life, in the midst of rebelling against tradition, her responsibilities, and her parents.

"Scars can come in handy. I have one myself above my left knee that is a perfect map of the London Underground."—Prof. Albus Dumbledore
Early life becomes an exploration of invisible parameters, circles beyond circles, as one pushes out to test the boundaries of safety. There is one’s bedroom, one’s home, neighborhood, school and town, state and nation. Early on, maps become important documents – declarations of being and rights and privileges. In the art world, throughout history, maps have been a constant measure of human progress, from the Phoenecians recording their trade routes over 2000 years ago, or pre-Columbian times in which map
Fandom and OwnershipI recently saw an article where Mike Tyson is supposed to appear as a convict who was a victim of sexual abuse as a child. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/tv-column/post/nbc-moves-mike-tyson-law-and-order-svu-episode-up-a-week/2013/01/30/0dc276fe-6b34-11e2-af53-7b2b2a7510a8_blog.html . The reactions to Mike appearance on the show has kinda made me think about the power that certain pockets of Fandom try to exert over a show.Fandom and Ownership2 years ago in Personal More Like This
A prominent Rape activist, in talking about how sickened that she was by convicted rapist Tyson being on the show, talked about how fans like herself felt betrayed. She further when on to say that because the focus of SVU is on the victim that they feel like they OWN the show. Now, while I understand, appreciate and respect the touchiness of this subject, this woman couldn't just leave her objections to these grounds where her moral high ground does exhibit latitude. She had to approach it from a standpoint of OWNERSHIP.
