Whispers of the WindHeh heh, you pretty much blew it.Whispers of the Wind3 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Well, actually, you guess you did a pretty good job! Everyone made it out fine, and they made a new world, and it's awesome! You're so proud of them. You just wish you could join them.
Being dead sorta sucks for that.
You remember watching him pick you up and carry your body away. You remember his tears, and how he held you. You drifted behind him silently, making eye contact with your friends hurt, so instead you focused on his horns. He took your body somewhere private, and you listened as he cried and screamed your name. So desperately you wanted to scream back. You wanted to wipe the tears from his face, and the blood from yours. You cried too, but he couldn't hear you, no one could hear you. Instead you hugged him from behind and buried your face in his back, sobbing with him. He went stiff briefly, and your breath caught in a chest that wasn't real, for just a moment hope rose in your heart, maybe he could feel you. But that thought died as soon
BrokenThis troll, he's odd. No, odd's the wrong word.Broken3 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Yes. He's broken. His eyes are dull and stare blankly ahead. There's nothing about him that seems to recognize emotion. He looks up at you, silent, almost void of life. You see his eyes blink, once, twice, three times, before you stand up and turn to the man behind you.
"Are you sure, there are plenty of better trolls, I assure you. This one's slated for slaughter in a day. Here," he placed a hand on your back, "let me show you to some other trolls, I'm sure you'll find another."
You disagree but follow him anyways. You pass by rows and rows of cages. Some are better kept then others, you notice the color swatches by each number, the nicer cages appear to belong to the purple or blue swatches. There are trolls of all ages and builds. Most walk up and greet you, saying brief things like "hello," or "hi mister." You nod and watch each one, seeing the life still flicker in their eyes. There's one section you pass by in a
A World Without HeirThere was no mistaking it. You won the game. The same door rose up before you. Only, this time you weren't watching it. In fact, you didn't even care it was there. You were only focusing on him.A World Without Heir3 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Everyone gave you a wide birth when you stepped out of the portal. You were clutching him tight to your chest, his head resting on your shoulder. Blood seeped into your shirt and dripped to the ground. Your red tears mixed with the blood pooling in your arms.
No one called you selfish for taking him somewhere private. Somewhere you could spend hours quietly sobbing, and then screaming into the surrounding woods. Nobody blamed you for not speaking when you eventually cradled his body again and brought him back to the main group. No other hands touched him from the moment you picked him up; to the moment you put him in the ground. And not a soul dared approach you in the days after when you stood vigil by his gravestone. Eventually you had to leave, you had to eat, and sleep, and live on. There w
IdiomsWhen plans were made for two astronomically different sessions to cross, both parties thought they had considered of every possible problem. Date and location were set, pictures exchanged, and even introductions were scripted. Nothing could possibly go wrong.Idioms3 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
They did, however forget one thing: the language barrier.
As it turns out, Trollian conveniently (or, not so conveniently) translates each participant's contributions to the conversations, which constituted simple understanding. Trollian, however, does not apply to the real world. Thus, John's peppy "Hi, Karkat!" was returned with a rather pissed "D'szg gs'v ufxp rh sv hzbr'mt?"
This simple miscommunication in the planning stages led to disaster when it came to living with one another. "Pass the salt" was purely gibberish to the poor trolls, while the very simple "Kz'hh gs'v hzog" lost all meaning to the humans. When this lingual difference was combined with the already over-complicated troll terms for things, everythin

"John? John, bro, is that you?"
"Holy shit. It worked." Dave ran forward and hugged the boy tightly. "Fuck, John, I missed you."
"Missed me?" He asked, "I don't get it, Dave?"
The blond started laughing quietly, "Of course you don't." He stepped back from John. "You're not him." He turned away and stared down at a card in his hand, "I should have known this was a dumb idea from the start. I'm a fucking moron."
A hand rested on Dave's shoulder, "Dave?"
"Get away from me!" he turned and swiped John's hand away. "Don't touch me!"
"D-Dave?!" John backed away terror beginning to show in his eyes. "Dave what's wrong? Dave?"
"Stop saying my name!" He cursed himself for reacting like this. He glanced away from the card and focused on John. "Listen to me. You are not John; you are an experiment that should never have happened." He held up the card. "This is you. You are nothing but data stored in this card."
"I I don't, Dave?

The veil is much different from what you imagined, it is dark, and cold, but none of that mattered because you were finally getting to meet your awesome troll friends!
Your name is John Egbert and you can hardly contain yourself.
The trolls meet you, shortly after you appear in the lab. They look just like you, except for the horns, and the grey skin, and the claws, and the teeth, or eyes, or ok, maybe they're really similar to you but still pretty different! You notice there aren't that many, only four of them. You see a tall graceful girl walk over to Rose, they start talking quickly, that must be Kanaya. You assume the troll girl licking Dave's face is Terezi, there is a quiet boy in the corner, he's tall and lanky and has weird two colored lenses, like 3
