Emotional WallsEveryone has walls. Some are made of concrete, inpenetrable until forcibly taken down. Some are made of glass, fragile to every touch, transparent to every passerby. These walls encircle our hearts, keeping ourselves minutely sane, keeping people out. These walls are our defenses. Sometimes they're easy to break, sometimes not.Emotional Walls2 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
Some people just go right through them, turning the concrete to small stones all around, or shattering glass. They touch our hearts -even when we don't want them to- and hold them. A bit of comfort or pity or pain, a feeling they give to us. Then like magic they're gone. Leaving us with our walls in rubble at our feet. Leaving us to rebuild alone, to start the daunting task of self-preservation. They leave cracks and scars in our walls. Dents and chips and holes and missing pieces.
But scars make us who we are, so how can we blame them?
