dA Life #08: Hosting a Contest on dAWelcome to the eighth dA Life blog, a series created to help you enjoy your time on dA and use it's many tools for sharing your art, appreciating other people's art and taking part in the wonderful community that we have here.dA Life #08: Hosting a Contest on dA3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Hosting a contest on dA is a really fun way to inspire other artists and do something positive for the community. If you've never run a contest before, it can seem like a daunting task so to make it a little easier, here are some things to consider before you create your contest and open it to the deviant public...
Your contest should have a theme. It can be as vague (Aliens, Summer, Cats) or as specific as you like (Alien Cats in Summer). When choosing your theme, take time to consider it's appeal to your potential entrants. A less specific theme is likely to attact more people as the scope for entries is wider. It depends on whether or not you want your contest to be huge - sometimes, bigger isn't always bet

What do we need to shoot a Street picture?
1. A camera
Whatever kind of a camera is good. Either it is a ridiculously expensive rangefinder or an unbelievably cheap point and shoot compact. Either it shoots digital or it shoots film. Either it weighs a ton or it weighs few grams. ANY camera is fine as long as you have it with you.
2. A public place
This can be out in the streets or at the beach or inside a hotel's lounge or in a diner place or inside a supermarket or a mall or a school or whatever PUBLIC place. This public place must be visible in our picture. And things must be happening in this public place.
Exactly, people! We need people in candid situations. Definition of "candid" from Merriam-Webster's online dictionary: "subjects acting naturally or spontaneously without being posed" Definition of "candid" from Wikipedia: Candid photography is best described as un-
Border CSS TipsYou'll find many border css styles all around the web .. I am not adding anything new here .. just collecting some of my favourite border styles and tips together .. Wow .. thanx for the feedback .. with ur help I'll add more tips below .. keep an eye on them XD
What's a border?
Border is what surrounds your html/css object/item, let it be a text, an empty box, or an image .. etc
What makes up a border?
Border has four properties:
Color - Width - Style - Radius
Whether you choose for your border to be visible or not, bear in mind it's made up of four parts:
Top - Bottom - Right - Left
How to use that in CSS?
The border properties have different ways to write down their values, but I always use a fixed/limited way:
color: #------; --> border color
width: --px; --> border thickness
style: solid, dashed, dotted; --> border ap

Firstly this journal includes the January features as well. We start with a feature of a few pretty dolly crafts from over time with less than 100 faves.
Second, here is a feature of this AMAZING homemade doll
Now, on to the next feature: My favourite pieces of January and February
First off, I will feature those that are so sadly underfaved, that are so beautiful and deserve so much more love! Not even fifty faves for these gems? I think they deserve so much more than that.

Stop following, start leading.I'm so tired of seeing people copying each other.Stop following, start leading.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Everything is so cliche now. Beginner artists all do the same things. Intermediate artists all have at least one piece of art that completely defies the idea of creativity in their galleries. Advanced artists, idols really...well, they are the ones having their ideas taken and used.
I'm tired of seeing the same horses running along a sunny beach, white unicorns stepping in magical fields, horses crying over the death of a loved one. I am so sick of seeing the same stock images used over and over and over again just because one popular artist or another has revolutionized it in their latest piece.
Please. Just...don't. Often the reason why it takes beginning artists so so long to improve is because a) they do not practice enough b) they only use precuts and overused stock or c) they are constantly copying others.
Be original. Be different. Try something new, even if you have to try and try again to get it right,
PE:How To Achieve Smooth and Clean LinesDigital ArtPE:How To Achieve Smooth and Clean Lines3 weeks ago in Art Features More Like This
Since it's something many people struggle with while working digitally, today I will be discussing how you can achieve smooth and clean lines using digital mediums.
SAI Stabilizer Tool
Paint Tool SAI offers my favorite method of creating smooth lines with its easy to use Stabilizer tool that works with absolute ease and no need for complicated setting adjustments. It doesn't matter how shaky your hands might be, the stabilizer tool will still be capable of creating beautifully smooth lines for you.
As you can see, the stabilizer tool is easily accessed, and you can quickly and easily adjust the level of stabilization you desire. The lower the number selected, the least amount of stabilization is utilized, the higher the more. I generally leave the stabilizer tool set to the highest setting (as seen above), though I've found that sometimes if you're working with smaller brush sizes reducing the stabilizer

Beings born to the sky flourish, skimming through the phantasmagorical Skylands with as much ease as any bird; their word is law and they alone dictate the world around them. The flightless wolves beneath them are forced to scurry to and fro on the whims of their superiors, and many have known only the bonds of slavery. For the skywolves, this is the natural order of things; they alone can reach the h

Hello and welcome to my little html tutorial. I've been working with html codes for a couple of years and I'm going to teach you what I know about using some basic html on deviantART. This won't make you a html expert or something and I'm not an expert myself but it will give just enough knowledge to make your journals, comments, news articles and other neat and lovely looking.
deviantART actually has FAQs about html but I still wanted to do this because they look a bit unorganized, in my opinion. Also, why would you want to look for those FAQs when you can just open this news article where you have everything in one place?
You may already know some of these, but I hope you'll find at least something helpful in this news article.

Life UpdatesI thought I'd dust this off and talk a little about what's going on lately.Life Updates1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Recently I've been in a pretty good mood, whatever was dragging down went away, and I've been feeling FANTASTIC~
Quite honestly I haven't felt this happy in a good while.
I have been a tad swamped in commissions and other projects though. Again, I'd like to stress that I'd prefer single character sketches for a while since I can churn those out faster.
I'm doing the best I can to juggle everything, and bare in mind, outside of a basic premise provided by the commissioner, I'm pretty much writing a lot of these comics by myself and it takes me time to plot and organize everything. So far I have Paradise Xone, the Galvatron story, a couple of World of Chaos stories (one of them being the Mutagin story), the Toad comic, and two Sonic Shoe Swap stories with possibly another one on the way. I feel like I'm forgetting one, but you get the idea.
I've also been helping with HappyAggro's Fallout

Last night was awful....
I got really sick...
Massive headaches, nausea, chills, random hot flashes for the lack of a better description, clogged nose, etc.
I felt like I was gonna die....
I went to bed super early like around 7 PM and couldn't sleep. Either I couldn't get warm or I'd get warm to quickly and my head was swimming in pain....
I was as pale as a ghost...
After trying to ignore the headaches and sleep, I woke up around 11 wide awake and later forced myself to sleep again around 2 in the morning.
ATM, the worst seems to be behind me. I did wake up still feeling pretty out of it, but I seemed to get better as I made my way through out the day.
In other news, I see 2014 is going to be the year of the Dinobots thanks to the upcoming movie. Seems Hasbro's really trying to push this hard as even the Rescue Bots seem to be rolling back the rock to the dawn of time.
A painting seen on some recent Rescue Bot packaging shows Cody working alongside Di
