Sister I cry to you, please come rescue me
Drowning myself in misery I cannot sleep
Banished to the place where I feel alone
I beg, I pled, I want to come home
I cannot lay my soul to rest
With the empty pain I feel in my chest
My color slowly turning to grey
My patience slowly fading away
I thought you loved me and cared
By telling me you would always be there
But now I see where you lacked
I thought you always had my back
My vengeance growing and turning cold
The days getting older, centuries old
If you don't love me than no one will
I'm tired of feeling sick and ill
The Luna you love is buried away
Tonight shall begin another new day
Nightmare Moon shall rise from hate
Before it's too late

Rainbow Dash lay on a cloud, head in her hooves, looking out at nothing in particular. She had to keep her gaze down to keep the sun out of her eyes, and ended up pony-watching. Nothing in particular was going on; it was early enough in the summer that the heat hadn't gotten bad, but after planting season. Ponies went about their business in the late morning, a few deciding on an early lunch while most ran errands or still worked. Nothing special at all. At least, until she saw Fluttershy rushing through town with full saddlebags. It was odd enough to see Fluttershy in such a hurry, let alone with her packs. Rainbow Dash decided to see what her longtime friend was up to and took off from her cloud. She easily caught up to her Fluttershy by flying just above the ground.
"Hey Fluttershy. What's up?" she asked, making her flight look casual next to the hurried pony.
"Twilight said it was an emergency!" Fluttershy explained. It really came out more in gasps; Fluttershy was hardly

"It's good to see that you decided to come, love." Twilight heard as she entered the balcony. She couldn't help but smile at the sight of Princess Luna standing before her, also smiling at her. But there was also a glint in Princess's eye's that told her that there was something else going on.
"Of course I would come." Twilight replied as she closed the door. "I mean it's not really hard when you are invited to your own balcony" Twilight joked. She then started laughing, which quickly had Luna joining her.
"Yes." Luna then said, letting out a last small chuckle.
"But in all seriousness, what did you want to show me Luna?" Twilight asked as she walked to her Princess.
"Why don't we lay down first?" Luna suggested once Twilight was at her side.
"So..." Twilight started as she laid next to Luna.
"I'm sure you are familiar with Equestria's history?" Luna began. T

Exile (Part One)
Luna was unhappy. No, more than that, she was desolate. After a millennium of being trapped in the moon as a psychotic traitor, she returned to Equestria appearing as little more than a filly. Everypony hated her for betraying Princess Celestia, feared her for her former dark powers. Nothing was as she remembered-
“Luna, it’s me.”
“Oh.” Luna recognized the voice of her sister. “Come in, then.”
Celestia opened the door of Luna’s tower abode slowly, stepping gracefully in. The warmth of her radiant mane, befitting a true princess, filled the room. She stared at Luna, seeing her on the brink of tears for the umpteenth time in a week. “You can’t stay in your room forever, Lulu; I miss you being around the castle. How many more socks do I have

Twilight gently eased herself down from the warm confines of her bed. Four hooves touched down almost soundlessly on to the hardwood floors below. With great care, she made her way blindly to the door that led out to the balcony. Even through the dark, the task was simple enough. She could lend that to years of repetition; years of walking through this very room. Not much had changed since she had moved here. A delicate purple light illuminated the hooked handle and the door opened inwardly. From the doorway, a soft breeze ruffled her graying mane and she closed her eyes momentarily to enjoy the soft caress.
She trotted out into the night as quickly as her weathered legs would allow and toward the balcony's edge. Since moving back to Canterlot, this balcony had become her favorite spot, only next to the palace's library, of course. She rose creakily to her hind legs, her fore hooves draping over the railing to steady herself. From here should could see the twinkling lights of Canterlot
Sunset - Chapter 1: Dawn A dark and stormy night: the perfect time to tamper with the universe's laws. Or so Celestia thought to herself. She couldn't explain why, despite her long years, but something just felt... right... about the whole thing. Maybe years of loneliness had finally driven her off the deep end? No, she was still quite sane. It wasn't like she was totally alone either. Sure, she had grovelling servants at her beck and call, but they were always far too formal for her tastes.Sunset - Chapter 1: Dawn5 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"Dear sister," Her Royal Highness, Princess Celestia of Equestria, Regent of the Sun spoke to a dusty old painting on the wall. "In twenty short years, you will return with well-deserved indignation. Curse Nightmare for twisting you like he did!" She slammed a hoof into the wall, knocking the picture of the smiling alicorn off balance. She frowned slightly and nudged it back into place with her muzzle.

After the Princess left, Twilight was determined to get to studying. She wasn't too clear on how she was going to go about retrieving her books - maybe another teleport was in order. Twilight was just getting ready when a knock on the door interrupted her concentration. She groaned, knowing she had to answer it before Luna was disturbed.
"Wha- Oh, Spike!" Twilight was surprised to find her assistant crossly tapping his foot outside the door. He came in without her invitation.
"Where were you, Twi?" he asked, clearly indignant. "You were gone for hours! Do you know how hard it is to keep a straight face when you're lying to the Princess of Equestria?"
"One of." Twilight corrected. "And sadly, yes. I'm sorry Spike." gears turned in her head. She couldn't have spent more than an hour and a half searching for books, probably less. Yet Spike was right - it was already well into the afternoon, several hours having passed from when she began her venture. Twilight wondered just what

The Equestria Alicorns side of the bleachers erupted, almost knocking Twilight Sparkle over. She was in the bleachers, attending her first highschool football game. Spike was on the side, next to her, yelling and shouting about with all the frenzy. Twilight didn't understand why the crowd was going crazy, but evidently something good had happened. Maybe she should pitch in?
The green football field was littered with several players, Equestria's players in navy and gold, and the opposing team, the Manehatten Manticores wore crimson and bronze. Their mascot had been beaten to the floor by the school's mascot, Ali the Alicorn.
Twilight was dissapointed with the design of the costume. She'd seen many better costumes come out of elsewhere, all and around the internet. She was even a little repulsed by the Manticore mascot's costume. The manticore's nose was partially ripped, and the leather was supposed to be its wings hung like jackets on a coat hanger.

Luna looked out at the dark lands of Equestria. She leaned against the stone railing that surrounded the balcony of her room, in the second highest tower of Canterlot Castle, the first belonging to her sister. She soon found her eyes landing on the small town of Ponyville, watching as lights went out, one after another, as the inhabitants retired to bed. She let out a long sigh, her eyes dropping to stare at her hands, which were folded and resting on the carefully carved balcony border. Yes, she knew not many people stayed up to enjoy her beautiful nights, but it pained her to see the loneliness that turned her into the dreaded Nightmare Moon, stare at her in the face again.
"Problem, sister?" Luna nearly jumped out of her skin as she felt a hand suddenly land on her shoulder, though she turned her head to find Celestia's smiling face beside her. "You looked like something was troubling you is something wrong?"
Luna shook her head. "Oh, no, of course not. Everything
Sunset - Epilogue: Redemption Someday, in the distant future, the events of that day would have two different names, depending on who you asked, or what book you read. To most of Equestria, it would be known as 'The Battle at Canterlot', while in the small town of Ponyville, it would be known as 'The Reckoning.' Neither of the names chosen for the whole fiasco were wrong, but neither did they get across how seriously it impacted history. For the first time, a commoner was put into a position of absolute authority over the country.Sunset - Epilogue: Redemption4 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
A couple of days after that pivotal event found the new princess cooped up in her old dorm room, hidden as best as she could under the covers. The sudden increase in size, and lack of new blankets left the goddess exposed to the bitterly warm glow of the sun... her sun. She fought the temptation to just turn it off and stop that tantalizingly warm orb from haunting her with the memories of that day: a day she would never forget.

You want to hear how I and Applejack became an item, huh? Well, okay... this is how it went.
I'd been having hots for her for a long time, and why not? She's tough, she's cool, she's honest and reliable, she's got these green eyes the color of spring grass when you look at it from far above, so bright you feel like you could just freefall in them, and hoo boy, those haunches... Rowr!
The only problem was I wasn't good with this emotional stuff. Still aren't, really, but lucky me, Applejack doesn't mind most of the time. Sure, I'd fooled around with willing fillies before, but the only time I'd tried anything more serious with somepony I'd been burned bad, and it left me kinda wary. So I was trying to go at it in a roundabout way first, hoping she'd get the hint or something. That didn't work out too well, and I almost pissed Applejack off when I "accidentally" crashed into her the third time in a month.
So I made a tactica
Lost In The Crowd - Part 2Rainbow Dash figured being around Luna and Twilight was about as harmless as it was going to get at a party like this. At least the pair of them weren't violently invading her personal space at every opportunity, and Luna would be able to bail her out if things got way too intense with Twilight yet again. What Luna couldn't prevent, however, was Twilight rambling on like an idiot with eyes as wide as dinner plates.Lost In The Crowd - Part 24 years ago in General Fiction More Like This

It was late evening in Ponyville. Rarity and Fluttershy were walking towards the large tented venue that had appeared on the hillside seemingly overnight. The pair of them were eyeballing some of the outfits random ponies were wearing for the party. A small scattering of ponies were walking with them, and a small handful had also dressed up for it, in everything from what looked like old disco-styled wear to gothic, lacy clothing with chains and ribbons hanging off of the sides. The sights of decades-old fashion and alternative wear was a horrifying sight and experience to the fashion-conscious pony.
"Uhm... maybe you thought it might be fun?," replied Fluttershy, walking alongside her, smiling meekly.
"Hardly, darling. But this being the largest social event around here in quite a while, I can't simply refuse to attend, now can I?"

Twilight and Luna were standing on the deck of the Ponyville Library. It was the middle of spring, and Winter Wrap Up had long past. The grass was growing and the flowers were blooming, adding a beautiful green hue to the world as Luna's moon shone brightly overhead in the dead of night. The temperature was warm and the air was muggy, but the sky remained crystal clear. The pair of them were looking through Twilight's largest telescope, which she had just set up the night before.
"Things are so much clearer with a bigger lens, don't you think?" asked Twilight.
"Definitely," replied Luna, her eye glued to the eyepiece, the telescope pointed low on the horizon. "What's this star called?"
"It's called Antares. It's a part of the constellation called Scorpio," said Twilight, looking at one of her books. Luna took her face away from the eyepiece finally, looking up at the sky itself. She stared in the direction

Excerpts from the Candid Sayings of Celestia as recorded by her friends
The mist that guarded the entrance to the pegasi's lair whisked around Celestia as she plunged in, leaving a cool, wet touch. The world vanished in the cloud at the cave's entrance, swallowed completely by fog so thick she thought it might be solid beneath her hoof were she to reach out and touch it. Laden and dense with water, the air felt heavy and cloying. Tiny droplets of moisture clung to Celestia's eyelashes, coat, and stray hairs. It muffled all sound except her breathing and the hoof falls of her and her sister; obscured all sight as effective as a curtain.
Any second now, she'd meet the pegasi. If she didn't walk blindly into a wall first.

It was a beautiful night in Equestria. Princess Luna stood watching over the land, taking in the awe of the world around her, the greens of the fields that covered the vast horizon, the browns of the forests that decorated the horizons. She looked outward, keeping an eye on all of the ponies as they slept peacefully through the night, each one with their own stories, their own histories and futures. It had been a long day. The Pegasus ponies had created a mighty storm earlier; huge, dark clouds hung above; thunder cracked across the skies and strong winds howled through the trees. It was a beautiful yet frightening sight to behold, and now, everypony needed a rest after the commotion. Luna just watched, as families slept in their stables, open fires crackled across the horizon, illuminating the land like fireflies as a cool breeze swept the land causing the flames to dance. She became lost in the beauty for hours, just watching in silence, as the fires danced for

But to see where you are forever silenced
Strains my heart more than I can bear
And it breaks even that much more

I raise the sun higher than 'tis worthy
I pray, my love, for one single moment
While foals frolic and ponies play
I adore them all and share their bliss
'Til with a single laugh, one tiny lapse
My guilt grows ever more ferocious
As I hoped, it rends my being to dust
For each joy not shared with you
Is there any worse pain I could suffer
Than having lost my sister, my dearest?

Nor the fleeting thoughts of the simplest fool/>
Will ever realize the terrible truth
The one thing that would surely destroy me
Is losing this precious soul-crushing agony

Every few minutes another wonderful scent would join the rest as Cinnamon Twirl pulled newly cooked goodies from the ovens to stock his shelves for the morning.
Cinnamon was an earth pony, normal by Equestria standards. His coat was a rich cinnamon brown, befitting his name, with a light brown swirl on his front shoulder. On left haunch was his cutie mark, a stick of cinnamon imposed slightly over the left side of a cinnamon roll. His mane and tail were the same color as his coat, but streaked with lighter brown and thin streaks of white. He kept both longer than most colts though not nearly as long as a filly.
Noise from the floor above told him that Pinkie Pie would soon be coming downstairs to help prepare for the breakfast rush. At first, her loud and hyper nature had k
