All I want for Christmas...I have had several journals that started out with a sort of disclaimer or apology for being less than tolerant of religion. This time, I don't justify, apologize, or disclaim anything.
Nigeria, in the last decade or so has seen thousands of people die because they were Muslim OR Christian. They are killing each other by the hundreds with guns, machetes, or whatever means available. Women and children slain in their homes because they were a different religion. What possible God sees this as OK? OH perhaps it's the god that commands his followers to kill thousands and thousands of people in the Bible. Seems like the same one to me.
There are property rights and what the government refers to as "indigeneship" in Nigeria. It means whoever was first to live on a particular parcel of land, has the rights to it. Add to this law of "indigeneship" the fact that Nigeria now produces a LOT of oil and you have the makings of a war. Ironically, the "democratic" government has embezzled four t

"Whatcha need, chum?"
I eyed the impeccably dressed man leaning on my desk next to me. It was Seth Green in an Armani suit. He smelled like citrus and campfire smoke.
"From you? Nothing. Nobody called you."
"The hell you did." He snatched my legal pad away, eyed my scrawled lines with pursed lips. "Looks like a summoning to me."
"Just doodling." I snatched it back.
He stood, held up his hands. "Close enough. So, I'll repeat the question... whatcha neeeeed?"
"And I'll repeat my response: 'nothing from you'. Scram."
"Awww, Ralfy, is that any way to treat a guest?" He flopped on my office sofa, scaring the cat. We both watched her flee the room. The demon grinned at me.
"It's late. Just going to bed," I tried.
"No no, you were thinking of writing a story."
"Maybe," I allowed. "What's it to you?"
Morrowind FeatureMorrowind Feature2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind is my favourite game of all time, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I've been planning for awhile to put together a game-inspired feature; unfortunately, it is very hard to find genuine fan art since most Morrowind-related deviations on dA are game screenshots (or manipulations thereof), and I found only a limited number of devs I could use.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Morrowind is an open-ended first-person RPG with an expansive and detailed world, released in 2002. The central plot concerns the deity Dagoth Ur, housed within the volcanic Red Mountain, who seeks to gain power and break Morrowind free from Imperial reign. In addition to the extensive main quest, there are detailed discursive quests for a variety of factions, including various guilds, religious organizations, and aristocratic houses.
Lord Voryn Dagoth had been a good friend of Lord Indoril Nerevar, but they tu

I have sort of settled on "Pussy". To me, it is endearing, has an old charm, and is just a tad naughty.
Anyone who takes even a casual stroll through my gallery will see many shots of pussies. Close ups. Detailed close ups.
WTF you might ask.
Some years ago a model came in to shoot nudes and asked me not to shoot any images where her pussy lips showed. I asked her why since we were shooting NUDES! She said she thought her pussy was ugly. My heart sank. Why would a lovely young model ever be made to feel that ANY part of her anatomy was ugly? Where did that concept originate? What kept that belief alive? Who said what to her?
I told her I thought it was beautiful and asked her if I could take a photo, as I saw it, and show it to her. Much to my
Crossing the LineAlmost 99.9999% of the comments I get on DA are very nice and complimentary. For this I am grateful and appreciative. I also appreciate the occasional criticism that suggests I try a different crop, color, or lens choice. Even after 35 years I feel it is vital to listen to all the input I get because there are occasional jewels of ideas that come from learned professionals and beginning amateurs alike. Sometimes I even like it more when someone who is new to photography makes suggestions because they aren't stifled by the "rules" we all learn when we start out.Crossing the Line2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Recently, I've had a few people say some interesting and absurd things. These comments are related to my having taken down my gallery of nudes. First of all, let me say, my motive for this action was simply time management. I run a business so I don't have time to respond to all the comments or even read them all.
The suggestion has been made that by me removing the nudes, by responding to horrid comments then hiding and blockin

I considered, nodding slowly. "Roger that: more explosions. You're sure it's not just gratuitous gun porn?"
Seth Green, my writing muse, held his arms wide while grinning at me. "Are you kidding, man? You should write nothing but stuff like this from now on!"
There came a rustling noise from behind Seth. I craned to see beyond him, into the darkness of my office, and seeing my reaction he turned too. But not quickly enough.
Strong, dark hands grabbed him by the chin and forehead, wrenched with a sickening crunch. Seth crumpled instantly, a surprised look on his face, my mysterious intruder holding him by the arm pits.
I leaped from my office chair but calm eyes bore into mine, forcing me back down. I watched as she dragged Seth's body effortlessly from my office. The sound of a dum
I'm a Puppy!A week or so ago, I read this article that made me laugh and yet feel so sad. Seems there is a guy from India who is in exile and may serve prison time for blasphemy. What he did was investigate what was making a statue of Jesus "weep". Supposedly water is dripping from this statue and people are drinking this "Holy Water" in hopes it will cure their ailments. Tragically, the water is sewage that is seeping up from a leaking pipe! But when this man reported on his findings, the religious were incensed and want him thrown in prison!!!!I'm a Puppy!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I find the story so....well perfectly metaphorical.
I sent this news story to a person I knew, who claims to be very anti church, and it started an email exchange which much to my dismay went ass over teakettle down the hill.
I often post rather anti-religious rant

New Username Symbols: Extended ThoughtsTwo weeks ago, we released two new products – deviant and art Mentions and new username symbols. Gratefully, and as we'd hoped, many deviants are embracing these changes in exactly the ways we'd anticipated, and the ways we ourselves did over the past several months of testing. While some deviants embraced the changes, it's fair to say that others have felt surprise, curiosity, and maybe even shock. These feelings are totally normal, but for the large part, there's a hope present. A positive outlook. The first steps in a new era that makes the way for our goals in the future, and, at the same time, removes clutter and confusion that new deviants often experience.New Username Symbols: Extended Thoughts10 months ago in Personal More Like This
As with any change, there are a handful of deviants that don't understand why we made the choices we did

I don't have time due to work and family to answer all of them individually like I would like so I think a handy-dandy FAQ is in order. Q: Can you give me any tips on how to draw/color,paint/whatever better?
A: The quick and easy answer is that there aren't any secrets to being able to draw well. I know it's not what people want to hear and everyone is looking for a magic trick that will instantly make them a better artist. The truth is that I have dedicated 1000s of hours to art in an effort to get better. I attended figure drawing classes, went to conventions and spent hours talking to other artists, and spent nearly every dime I had on books and art supplies. I lived it and breathed it. When you were out on a date or playing video games or seeing movies I was probably home d

Bomango ze Tango!I'm going to get ahead of this right now and say that this might not be a riveting read for folks. Bad advertising, I know, but I feel it's necessary to preface this by being realistic. I'm not uber-famous, my characters aren't known far and wide, and for Pete's sake, I don't even have a proper webcomic or series to speak of. But, I've been asked numerous questions enough that it might be useful to have a FAQ essay of sorts to clear the air a bit.Bomango ze Tango!11 months ago in Personal More Like This
So here goes...a history of "Bomango", as best I can recall...
ORIGIN! (in real life)(image circa way the hell back when i was still spelling it GoGo BoManGo)
"Bomango" (as it's come to be known) came about maybe around 2004 or thereabouts...shoot, maybe 2003, which makes it a decade old already...sheesh. Anyway, the earliest drawings of "Gogo" were sketchbook illustrations of a big-eyed girl in a long jacket. Not anime-style big eyes, mind you...big, droopy, heavily-lined eyes, wi
Respect...I'm not sure what has happened to DA lately, but sadly I'm noticing more and more people are becoming rude and obnoxious when commenting on others work. This isn't just my work, I've noticed it across the whole site.Respect...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It seems some people think it's absolutely ok to insult people, with absolutely no provocation, other than the fact they don't like their work or are jealous for some reason (the person's work makes them feel bad about themselves or they feel the person is getting more attention than them, for what they consider invalid reasons).
If you have something constructive or relevant to say about someone's work, no matter how negative, then that is absolutely ok. But to just be negative or plain rude to make yourself feel better, is never ok under any circumstances. Think before you type, how would you feel if someone wrote what you were about to write, to you, your partner or your friend? Would you find it helpful, hurtful, insulting? Would you have the guts to

My girlfriend and I traveled today to Atsugi, about an hour train ride from Tokyo. We had some business to take care of there. It was a bit frustrating because we couldn't get everything done we needed to, but the traveling to and from was delightful.
I was amazed, looking out the train window, there was not ONE piece of litter. I think we traveled 20 miles or more before I saw so much as a tissue paper beside the tracks. The Japanese, even in the less affluent areas, are incredibly tidy.
During the morning commute, the subway trains are packed so full there are literally uniformed individuals called "pushers" whose job it is to shove people into the cars as tightly as possible. As the doors slide shut they get very aggressive and carry out their job of sardine commuter packing very seriously and they do it with smiles and white gloves and a charm that everyo

How they are able to deal with all the varied interests and agendas I see on here is beyond me.
I salute DA, the staff, and admins for a thankless job so very well done.
Tonight I am announcing "Pelicanh" will be gone or rather moving to a new DA page. My gallery will be taken down.
There are many reasons for this.
1) I now have 197 people I have had to block.
2) I can't even allow comments because I don't have time to weed out the flamers and trolls, block them, and hide their comments. To those who say,"Well, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. If you can't stand criticism, then
SOPA, Hypocrisy, Scandal, DMCA, and CensorshipMissing The PointSOPA, Hypocrisy, Scandal, DMCA, and Censorship3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been disappointed to see the various responses to SOPA, especially the "DEVIATION CENSORED" images. They so completely miss the point that I can only assume the people posting them have absolutely no comprehension of what SOPA means, why it's a problem, and what they're actually protesting against.
First off, SOPA is not about censorship. Unfortunately, many of the opponents of SOPA decided to cast it as being about censorship in order to mobilize public opinion. Why did they do that? Unfortunately, they did that for two reasons: 1) they knew that without mobilizing mass support, the bill would go through and 2) they knew that the masses they wanted to get support from simply don't care/understand the real problem enough to do anything - because the truth is much to complicated for the typical internet user. I have some sympathy for that view, because I've discovered over and over again that copyright is, in fact, too complicated for the typi
Slumlord Frigid AirAbout a year ago, I moved into a studio apartment on the east side of Sheboygan. It's an old brick building right across the street from the marina, with a nice view of Lake Michigan. The place is fairly old (built in the 1940s, I believe), but I like the look and feel of older buildings. And the rent was reasonably cheap, too, at about $350 per month. Since most of my paycheck gets eaten up by student loan payments, I wasn't really in the market for anything more expensive than that. A studio apartment is pretty small and cramped, but it's not like a single guy needs much space to run around, and I don't have much furniture anyway.Slumlord Frigid Air4 months ago in Personal More Like This
For the most part, it's been a good ride.
