As for this picture, it's my way of representing being in a bad mental state, which seems to be becoming a bit of a recurring theme I must say... I worked at pretty hi-resolution for this, you can see some 100% zoom detail shots here if you like.
A collab with my favourtie 3D buddy ~NullVoiD. He sent me a sweet 3D render and I messed it up in Photoshop as usual. I thought I'd lost it half way when PS suddenly did a spaz while trying to run a filter, but 10 minutes later it popped back up as though nothing had happened hmmmm. Old skool? yeah, but these days they're rarer than random vector abstracts, we need a few more imo :}
Another Photoshop mess about to see what shapes I can make out of incredibly boring objects (in this case a software box). I was waiting around at work for someone and was feeling guilty that I hadn't submitted much recently, although I expected the new DC pack to be out by now... It's just around the corner, really it is Ooh and apparently a graphic I did for my work appeared on TV last night, woop!
*Edit* Just been cheeky and replaced the image with a much darker one, maybe a bit more interesting.
I was looking at cugars amazing abstracts the other day and it inspired me to have a go at making a pure abstract again. Oddly enough I did this with an old poser render I found, and a lot of messing it about in Photoshop. I was picturing some sort of balrog type thing, a thing of fire deep underground, but to be honest it's just a few shapes I liked.
This would have been so much easier if I had good 3d skills. As it was after producing a very basic wireframe render of a head I had to spend ages in Photoshop pulling in apart... It almost killed my pc as well, too many layers at too hi-res, here's a snapshot at 100%: [link]
In other news, I hope everyones having a good Christmas/holiday season etc etc. I'm taking a break for a bit to work on some other projects but I'm sure I'll get bored and knock some crap up in Photoshop at some point.
I do love sea monsters, I think I'll do some more Lovecraft based work at some point with a sea-theme.
I actually did 90% of this in Photoshop on my work pc in some spare time before final tweaks at home (I love CS2 for quick layer manipulation). It almost killed my desktop at work, I'm so glad we're being given some nice new workstations. Dual core P4s, 2 gig RAM, fast HD, it'll be great to have a pc that's a match for my home one :} Anyway this is actually 20% of the original size I was working at which might explain the strain my work machine went through...
Oh yeah and a new DC pack is coming soonish... I promise ;}
My first piece from the new Depthcore pack Deluxe. There were so many submissions that the pack has actually been split into 2 with the first half being released now, and the second at some point in the nearish future. This means that this picture is actually the 2nd in a series, but the first has been placed in the second half of Deluxe so you'll have to wait for that one (yeah I think the pack was split up randomly
As I have said before, I reserve my more experimental work for DC, although this does not mean that I put any less work into pictures like this. In fact I think I put more effort in when trying something new, to make sure that I get something that I find both visually appealing and exciting. The techniques I used for this series demanded I worked at very high resolution, this is maybe 25% of the original size. I might try a print submission if DA supports printing this aspect ratio. I know pictures like this split opinion and there will be some who hate it and wish I stuck with the same old Photoshop abstract stuff... but I hope some of you like to see something a bit different :}
Most importantly, go check out Depthcore for some amazing work from some extremely talented artists. I know you'll love it :}
Been away for a bit, turned on my pc and thought 'why on earth did I make a light wallpaper? I much prefer dark ones!' So I had to put this together to be a dark alternative to my first 2006 wallpaper, Medusa. As before I have kept a lot of space free on the left for icons and such, and this time it's not so bright it'll burn your retinas if you look at it for more than 5 seconds :}
