still bluer than you.still bluer than you11 months ago in Personal More Like This
I'm blue as a bottle, I'm blue as a bone,
I'm blue as old Sisyphus rolling that stone.
I'm blue as a cop and blue as a thief.
I take all these pills and I get no relief.
I'm blue as a river and blue as a rose,
I'm blue as an emperor wearing new clothes.
I'm blue as a porpoise and blue as a peach.
Any cure for these blues is way out of reach.
I'm blue as a cheese and blue as a chair,
I'm blue as a handle holding on to thin air.
I'm blue as a candle and blue as a cloud.
I think being this blue should not be allowed.
I'm blue as a spaniel and blue as a spruce,
I'm blue as an orange that is all out of juice.
I'm blue as that boy who was blowing his horn.
I've been blue as can be ever since I was born.
I'm blue as a tractor, I'm blue as a train,
I'm blue as a rain

It has been a crazy busy summer! So, busy that I have not nearly been as active with my photography and clothing as I would like. I also have been promising more bracer raffles for the future but have gotten behind schedule with them! So to start off the slide into fall I would like to host another bracer raffle!
So here is how it works:
-Favorite this Journal. (this is how I will keep track of the contestants)
-You must be watching me. (This is a gift to my friends, not passerby's! It is ok to start watching me now. )

About cuteness. About unconditional loveWe need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals... In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.About cuteness. Old blue dogOld blue dog2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I have an old blue dog, as big as he can be.
He eats way too much but he keeps me company.
I call him Jim and he always calls me sir.
I don't make him do that but it's what he prefers.
He sharpens his claws on the oak tree in the yard.
His claws are nice and sharp but the tree is kind of scarred.
If I sit at the piano he gives me a sideways glance.
But when I play boogie-woogie, he always starts to dance.
He goes to town on Tuesday after I help him groom,
comes home again on Wednesday smelling like perfume.
One time he fought that orange cat that lives a mile away.
But then they licked each other and they are friends today.
He saved a lot of people that time the sky fell down.
They gave him a nice medal but he doesn't wear it now.
One thing he never learned to do is play the violin.
He says he played the banjo once and he thinks he could again.
If I can't sleep at night, he turns the radio on
Myth And Legend Contest Begins! My apologies for the delay!Myth And Legend Contest Begins!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
If any of you remember, I asked what would be the best idea for a jewellery related in a poll a while back, and the top rated answer was 'Myth and Legend'. Real life has gotten in the way, but I'm starting this Contest now to make sure it gets started and some prizes won!
The theme, as mentioned, is Myth and Legend. This can be interpreted however you feel it should be so long as your entry fits into one of the three group-related categories below. Myths and Legends covers a lot of ground, so I'm hoping for a lot of ideas here. Below is an example I have made- namely the kraken. This is a pretty literal interpretation, but how you interpret the theme is really up to you!
Because Devious-Jewellery caters for jewellery, artisan crafts and tutorials, we will have 3 categories to enter your work into:
Jewellery: This includes all types of jewellery, including necklaces, pendants,

Who can blame me thinking:
Life is all the same.
Stairs go up and stairs come
Down, it's just a game.
They say, hurry, hurry,
Faster, faster, go!
Here's my secret trick: try
Fewer steps, and slow.
Echoes fade, it's quiet.
No one's looking? Stop.
Hectic, as a diet,
Makes a deathly drop.
Keeping up is easy:
Someone's coming? Pant.
Breathless, faint or queasy—
Fake ten watts, no amp.
Jumping right past you,
Get rewards so lethal:
Steps to climb anew!

Everybody knows that abstract art can be art,
and most people know that they may not like it,
even if they understand there's another purpose to it.
Surrealism is destructive, but it destroys only
what it considers to be shackles limiting our vision.

I met a man on Monday
who did not know wrong from right.
I said that he could be my friend,
but we could not be tight.
I met a girl on Tuesday
with a weapon in her hand.
She said that she knew how to use it,
but that was not her plan.
I met a wolf on Wednesday
with a woman by his side.
I said, "Are you okay, babe?"
and the wolf said, "I'm all right."
I met a man on Thursday
who held an open book.
He said the truth was in there
but he did not plan to look.
I met some folks on Friday
who gave me cheese and wine.
The cheese was blue, the wine was red,
I liked them both just fine.
I met someone on Saturday

The spotted men are walking and a storm is close behind,
it's bound to get them soon and I hope they do not mind.
Sometimes you check the mirror and a storm is what you find.
I was going to bake a cake but my sugar had a flaw -
it was the meanest sugar that you ever saw.
I think that kind of sugar ought to be against the law.
I bought a can of freedom, so glad to make it mine -
freedom is not free, it cost a dollar forty nine.
If the can would only open, things would be just fine.
You still can see the pipes sticking up out of the ground -
the trucks would pull up to the place and make a pumping sound.
They don't deliver any more, we have to go to town.
I have a funky monkey who says his name is Stan -
on Tuesday he goes out and plays the banjo in a band.
When I have tea he comes to me and sits upon my hand.

Feed the wolfFeed the wolf2 years ago in Personal More Like This
You have to feed the wolf.
He does not want a grandmother.
He does not want a girl in red.
They would not enjoy it
and he could end up dead.
You have to feed the wolf.
He does not want a nightmare,
he does not want a dream.
Nightmares taste like old, dry bread
and dreams too fresh and green.
You have to feed the wolf.
He does not want the moon.
He does not want the stars.
He swallowed half the moon last night -
stars make his throat feel sore.
You have to feed the wolf.
He does not want a language
he never knew till now.
He swallowed seven just last week -
they all turned into howls.
You have to feed the wolf.
He does not want tomorrow,
does not want yesterday.
Despite their lovely fragrance,
when bit they slip away.
You have to feed the wolf.
Try roses. Yes.
He wants roses.

The sixty kisses, did they cover all
the tears? The sixty tears, did they dry up
when sixty smiles turned up their corners, fall
replacing summer in the draining cup
of life? The sixty memories of times
too special or too painful to forget,
did they make up for drudgery and mimes
of things you never really felt? You let
the kisses count for more than tears, the smiles
for more than pain. You calculated life
in metrics lacking dollar signs or miles,
no resume of boasts, but just this riff:
That sixty kisses cover all the tears
And all that's been is worth the sixty years.

We broke the covenant and thrived, convinced we could go on.
But when we saw those penguins fly we thought we might be wrong.
The sound of five hands clapping fell upon the ears of all.
The sixth one had gone off somewhere to write upon a wall.
A trumpet played so sweetly in a nearby space.
A waxing moon was in the sky with clouds that looked like lace.
I heard it in the alley on the night of April 3.
I stopped and stood and listened, though I had places to be.
I'm going back to old K.C., why don't you meet me there?

The SycamoreThe Sycamore9 months ago in Personal More Like This
The sycamore was young and strong until
that car crashed right against its trunk; a piece
was split. It held together by sheer will
and still the green leaves grew with spring's new lease.
The apple tree was young and lithe until
that lightening storm, the one that shocked its trunk.
For several years we thought it dead. To kill
a tree takes more than that – the tree has spunk.
The sycamore was scathed a second time.
Why stand for that, I wonder. Wait! A tree
can no more move than you or I. Refine
the meaning of success and see the we
of sycamore and apple tree who stand
together, lifelong friends, in changing land.

I played a little flute, they didn't seem
To hear. I played a little louder but
The fanfare still was over there. Their theme
Remained themselves, their wealth, their fear, their gut.
I tried a bugle, something coarser, pitched
To capture here and now, attention! Stop!
But you would think they all had earplugs, switched
To cancel, making bugle waves a flop.
I mastered tuba just in time to send
My message way down low, a rumble meant
To imitate a quake, and maybe lend
Some gravitas to saying, earth is spent.
But no one listened. Now I play my flute
To cheer myself, and wonder, who's the brute?

Whispering Light ContestSummaryWhispering Light Contest3 years ago in Personal More Like This
How would you visualize whispering light? Is it a candle in a cold winter storm? A child wishing on a star? A barren landscape, covered in mist? We're curious to see how fellow artists interpret the term.
What is Whispering Light?
Whispering Light is the name of our music studio. The name comes from the studio founder's Arabian horse, whose name poetically translates into Whispering Light. Whispering Light Studios is home to two indie musicians; Native American Flutist, Kevin Village Stone and Classical Guitarist, Lindy Day (that's me!). We're renovating our site, but you can get a feel for us at our old website: http://www.whisperinglight.com
We're looking for artists of any visual medium to create a logo/banner for Whispering Light Studios. We want you to create your own visual interpretation of the words Whispering Light. Creatively po
