Raffle: Win 400 Points
Update: the winner has been announced! http://roseonthegrey.deviantart.com/journal/Winner-Announced-for-Raffle-Win-400-Points-297598524
Points seem to make people happy so why not do a raffle. I have 400 points lying around anyway from my days of llama trading.
Rule: Fav this journal entry
Prize: 400 points
Ending: 4/21/12 (one week from now)
On the 21st, I will use a random number generator to randomly select a number x uniformly distributed from 1 to the number of favs the journal has (so every fav has an equal chance of winning). If you are the lucky deviant be the xth fav, then you win the 400 points. Easy as that.
(this is just a simple raffle to give away some unused points to try to brighten someone's day...you're not forced to jump through hoops or watch me or comment or do anything other than fav this journal for logistics reasons so it's easier to pick a winner...what do you have to lose? if I tacked on

Ninja Turtles by lukekeith
The recently announced changes to the core mythos of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the backlash from fans over the ending to Mass Effect 3 have ignited an incredible discussion about the rapidly evolving “collaborative” relationship between producers and consumers of videogames, movies, and similar “products.” Now it’s exploded beyond the secure borders of top news publications, gamin
Comic-Con: Day 2Comic-Con Day 2 was all about cosplay, fandom, and art, art, art!Comic-Con: Day 23 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Before we get into the thick of things, we didn’t have a photo of our huge plasma screens hanging from the convention ceiling to share in our Day 1 recap, so we vowed to get that to you today! The 11 foot wide screens stream amazing works of art from Artists' Alley participants to the whole convention floor!
In Comic-Cons past, the foot traffic In Artists’ Alley got busier and busier as the week progressed, and this year is no exception. There’s something magical about speaking one-on-one with a deviant, learning their experiences, hearing how they started as an artist, and how far they’ve come. It’s an emotional connection to make with someone who was practically a stranger a few moments ago -- and then you realize you’re not really strangers when you

How correctly install GDIPPHi, i receive a lot of messages by people who want install GDIPP( cause GDI++ is crappy!!), so here is the good way:How correctly install GDIPP4 years ago in Personal More Like This
➊ Install GDIPP 0.7.6 in Registry( not in services, you will see it during the installation) , download: http://code.google.com/p/gdipp/downloads/list
➋ Copy the 2dll's in "C:\Program Files\gdipp" to "C:\Windows\system32"( for 64 users: 4 dll's: "sytem32"( for 64 bit dll's)+"syswow64"( for 32 bit dll's) ), like: http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/423903436372Capture.png
➌ Restart( done)
Edit ( 12 oct 2012):
Now, i use 0.9.1 version, it works better and no replacement of dll needed ( only install it and go..!), if you use Firefox or other: uncheck "material acceleration..." in Firefox ( or other) options!!
If some characters look a little craps in some applications: make an exeption in "C:\Program Files (x86)\gdipp\gdipp_setting.xml" with your notepad.
Celebrate deviantART's 13th Birthday!Celebrate deviantART's 13th Birthday!2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
On the day of your birth, you were likely surrounded by those who loved you, who would lead you through the rough first scary years of life, and who would stand by as you grew into a capable person. As time passed, others may have drifted into your life, and even if you didn't know it, they also nurtured and cared for you in much the same way, helping to shape the person you would become.
When a community like deviantART is born, the same common thread binds its originators and founding members together. Over the years, more and more creative beings drift into its life and strengthen its core every single day, resulting in an exponentially inspirational powerhouse for the sheer fact that they've become a part of it. That nurturing spirit, that inherent support system, that caring community inspires deviantART to grow, and it comes from inside each and every one of you.
Sunday, Day 4 of Comic-ConNo matter how tired your feet are by what is actually Day 5 of Comic-Con, counting Preview Night, no matter how exhausted your body and empty your wallet, there's always a bit of sadness in the air when the last few hours of Comic-Con wind down.Sunday, Day 4 of Comic-Con2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
In the deviantART booth, we witnessed something a little magical when the voice came over the loudspeaker to announce that Comic-Con was closed at 5:00 pm sharp, the remaining straggling attendees and exhibitors packing up stopped what they were doing and burst into applause. It was a mixture of relief, pride, and fulfillment of a successful convention.
Someone yelled, "See you in 365 days!" and there was a true moment of community with everyone in earshot. Sure, it's a sad sentiment, but it gives us all something to look forward to, and the months ahead will be filled with the happy memories of all we accomplished over the past week. Friends met that stop by every year, new friends, new properties to become fans of, new comic books to read and

He was an artist you might not know.
But you’ve met his children…
It’s rare that a “new” iconic monster is born and becomes forever identifiable,—— no matter the variations, by generation after generation. So it was when George Romero created the ultimate “zombie” in his Night of the Living Dead in 1968. Zombie Apocalypse fans today may have never heard of George or seen the original “Night,” but the zombies they so love in fare like The Walking Dead owe their existence to Romero’s original vision.
In 1979, screenwriter Dan O’Bannon craft

The Street Photography of Chris Weeks
It was only after many long frustrating hours of trying to describe what’s so special about the photographs of cweeks...
That I finally realized I was trying to describe something that wasn’t there.
I finally realized that the magical something that sets cweeks’ works apart from others is that his camera disappears. There is no sense as you look at his photos of street scenes and other captures that you are looking through a lens, even the lens of a particularly talented photographer. There is a sense of simply walking through a town and seeing what you happen to see – without the

Win8 and VS 11So i got back some feedback from my last journal. A lot of it. So let me go on record here...Win8 and VS 113 years ago in Personal More Like This
1 > I am "that guy" that hates something in initially, but after using a product for a week or two, grows to like it. Call me an Old Fart that hates Change.
2 > The whole "WinRT in Win8 only" was what i had read prior to the Dev.Preview coming out, and once i read that, i stopped looking for more info.
3 > from all the screencaps that i have seen (a few, not alot) has whatever app being developed as a fullscreen metro app. This i hate.
4 > If you need large typography, increase the DPI in control panel, dont write a new OS that forces it on people.
So thats about it. Ends up I was wrong about a few things, but, you know, To Err Is Human....
As I said above, I may love it a week after using it, or now... who knows. I DO know i am tired of all of the "Metro Concepts" that non-programmers are making.
