Tried to struggle against my natural tendency to making him look stronger and taller than he probably is, considering that in the books he is described as thin and not specifically tall (several people are said taller than he is). In my head the cat-like/ spider-like / bat-like quality of Snape suggest he would not have a physically imposing body complexion : all his strength lies in his mind, sharp tongue, expressions, magic and billowing robes.
A Harry Potter fanart! Because I'm a sad nerd deep down, and we all love Harry Potter, even if we're too cool to admit it.
So this was drawn in pencil on paper, then scanned in and jazzed up in photoshop. All of it is mine except the patterns on the chairs, which came from a google image search for "vintage wallpaper". It was actually adapted from a coursework I did for university, but I turned it into Snape because let's be honest, fanart gets more attention.
There was originally going to be someone sitting in the other chair, but I couldn't decide who. My first thought was Lucius Malfoy, but he was too difficult to draw (and he doesn't suit sepia). Then I thought Dumbledore, but I'd already arranged the chess set to have Snape winning (he can checkmate in 3 moves, I was OCD about all the pieces being in the right place). And I think if Snape and Dumbledore had a chess match, Dumbledore would probably win. So alas, the chair remains empty, although I may go back and fill it at a later date. If there's any particular person you'd like to see occupying the chair and losing at chess to Snape, let me know ;D
Severus Snape. Drawn for the 'Thank you, Severus' challenge for the dA group Spinner's End. This is my interpretation of a canon Snape who didn't have much going on in his life that made him happy. So I thought, what if he had a talent for music that gave him the escape he needed. So this is my gift to him: a Stradivarius a la Sherlock Holmes, to thank him for putting up with all that crap for so long.
Ink pens on bristol board. Inspired by Gustave Dore's spot illustrations. You have no idea how much trouble Snape's left leg in the background gave me! I'm still not 100% happy with it, but am submitting anyway.
