Dumbledore's FarewellIt was a warm summer evening. Severus Snape was standing at the window looking into a fiery sunset when he heard someone at the door. He knew immediately who his visitor was, and what he had come for.Dumbledore's Farewell4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
"Is it time?" Snape asked, without averting his gaze.
"Yes, Severus. It is time," said Albus Dumbledore. "I am leaving soon, and if I return, I fear there will be little time for goodbyes." He spoke in a light and matter-of-fact voice that did not match the seriousness of his words, as if he might have been talking about a Quidditch match, or his favourite jelly bean flavour.
Snape turned around, despair and revulsion etched into his pale features. "Then I must do it?"
Dumbledore nodded. "It is the only way."
Snape looked at him for a long moment in silent defiance. The old man held his gaze firmly. His face was more lined than before, and the curse had taken a visible toll on his body, but he had lost none of his dignity and vigour. Finally, Snape caved in. "As you wish," he said flatly.

At the sound of her husband's voice, Eileen let out a small sigh, before hurrying down rickety stairs, to see what was the matter in the kitchen. Leaning against the doorframe, Eileen asked, "What now?"
Looking up from the television he was fiddling with, Tobias said, "Why doesn't the tele work?"
He'd interrupted her work for this? Rolling her eyes, "Well, is it plugged in?" Even though Eileen didn't know much about Muggle devises, she knew enough to know that most of them required electricity.
With a scowl, "Of course it is," Tobias said, indignantly. "Do you think I'm an idiot?"
Tobias glared at his smirking wife before returning to the television. He fiddled with the knobs a little, "It's not doing anything." He pounded the top of the television. "Stupid piece of junk."
"Did you really call me down here to watch you hit that box?" Eileen wouldn't put it past him.
Standing up, Tobias ran his fingers through his hair, and said sheepishly, "I was wondering if you

He stopped for a second and took a long drag of the cigarette he was holding, shaking his head to take the silky hair out of his attractive face. Some muffled screams were heard some floors downstairs and the boy, leaving the cigarette in his mouth, strummed the strings again to avoid listening to them. Besides, music helped him relax.
He had gotten that old guitar just to annoy his mother, whom he had heard complain repeatedly about those 'filthy muggle instruments', but he had ended up liking it, even if no one knew about his hidden hobby. Smoking was another of his little signs of rebellion; he knew how much they hated it when the whole house reeked to cigarette. Besides, Kreacher had extra w

She sighed relieved when she felt her silky hair falling in disheveled waves. She rubbed her face with her hands, frowning a little, and then reached out to her night table to get her clock. It was almost time to get up, so there was no point in trying to sleep again. Stupid nightmare, at least it hadn't waked her up in the middle of the night. The girl quietly took her legs out of the blankets and put on her slippers, dragging her feet towards the bathroom and softly closing the door. Still sleepy, she planted herself in front of the mirror and looked at her reflection. Severus woke up with a groan.
His head was pounding. His whole body ached. He was sure he had some bruising along his ribs if they weren't broken, and he was almost sure they were and he couldn't fix it because of his lack of knowledge in healing.
The only way to know for sure is with a visit to Poppy and the witch hadn't wanted anything to do with him in months, going as far as to tell him not to come to the hospital wing unless he was bleeding to death. Or to not even come then.
He could not go to see her.
Sighing he pushed himself up slowly, only to be greeted with a wave of dizziness, and a jolt in his stomach that had him nearly tripping over his own feet to get to the lavatory.
Five minutes later he emerged pale and sweating, his thin white shirt was soaked through and his hair was in complete disarray, more so then normal.
It was settled he was sick.
Sitting on the edge of his bed he laid his head in his hands he was tempted to not leave his chambers at all

But Severus Snape was detached from it all. As the black robes of the Dark Lord whipped out of sight, Snape's only thought was that he had failed her. He hadn't reached the boy in time, and now he would never know what must be done.
And then the boy was there, bending over him, alive, miraculously alive, and Snape clutched his robes and pulled him close.

Chapter Twenty-Five: Homosexuals
Harry walked through the gloomy, frozen streets of Muggle London. He had Ginny's address in his coat pocket and he had memorized it enough to know where he was going without looking at it continuously. Anger was pulsating in his veins like venom. How dare she do this! He could feel his knuckles glowing white through his over-coat. He ground his teeth against the cold and at how his stupid soon-to-be-ex-wife thought she still had a hold over his life. He would show her differently! He seethed through the frozen streets of London until he reached a rural area with a huge variety of blocks of flats. He sneered at the brickwork before jabbing his finger at the buzzer.
Hello? came the static voice from the intercom.
"Open up" Harry hissed viciously.
Is that you Harry?
"No, it's fucking Santa Claus, now open up!"
Ginny sighed over the intercom but soon a shrill metallic buzz echoed out from the device. Harry pressed his weight against the

Severus didn´t want a child.
And yet...here it was...
Severus approached the cradle with feather light footsteps. It was a simple but elegant piece of furniture, made out of heavy and dark oak wood...an heirloom of Evelyn´s family, that her mother had insisted on giving them. A wealth of delicate white and blue covers and a veil of rich Irish lace protected it´s tiny occupant from the late October chill.
His long fingers drew back the covers to reveal the child to his sleep deprived eyes. A child who was no more than an hour old. A child that wasn´t expected. A mistake that shouldn´t have happened, as far as his father had been concerned.
He didn´t want a child...
Most people take parental instinct for granted...They imagine it´s only natural for parents to love their children. It just happened...But Severus knew better...In fact he knew from experience that it just wasn´t that simple...Nowhere near that simple...
And that was p

Severus turned around, and when he caught sight of me, he smiled. I almost knocked the wind out of him as I flew into him to hug him. He chuckled softly.
"I've got a surprise for you, Sev!" And without waiting for an answer, I dragged him down the corridor. Over my shoulder, I saw Severus smile in amusement. I smiled back him.
"You'll love it, I promise!" I said, trying not to giggle at his bewildered expression.
"What is it exactly I'll love?"
"Sev! It's a surprise! Obviously I can't tell you, then it would just be a plain old unexpected event!" I said, sighing in frustration.
"Oh, pardon me. I haven't been given the rule book of how to react to an upcoming surprise," Severus said sarcastically, a twinkle in his eye.
"I'll be sure to mail it to you when I have some spare time. Here we are!" I said with excitement. "Close your eyes, Sev."

Severus couldn´t even remember the last time he had slept. Actual sleep, that is. A peaceful night of sound, restoring sleep. His brain shut down at times, when the body couldn´t take being awake anymore, but even then...To sleep...to rest...No more...Not since the late Albus Dumbledore had dropped the weight of the world onto his shoulders without ever wondering if he would be able to carry it.
Dumbledore was not the nice old man for whom so many took him... He was man of action, a man who did what had to be done, no matter what the cost. "For the greater good" was his motto. Severus respected that. He had long given up any ideals of a fair world where good triumphs over evil simply because that´s the way it´s supposed to be...More often than not, the "greater good" demanded sacrifice, blood, tears and less than noble actions...Sometimes things simply got ugly, and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Despite Snape's many attempts, Quirrell was still eluding him. He had even moved his seat to the other end of the staff table in an effort to avoid the Potions Master. Also, Snape was still operating discreetly so as to avoid rousing the suspicions of the other professors. He knew perfectly well that he was not a favorite colleague, however that did not deter him from his job.
He was pacing the length of his office, mulling over a possible ambush plan, when Dumbledore appeared in the doorway.
"Come in, Headmaster." Snape said, pausing by his desk.
Dumbledore stepped inside, and shut the door behind him. He waved his wand, and cast the Muffliato spell.
"The mirror must be moved, my boy." The Headmaster said, once he was sure the room was secure.
"Why?" Snape asked, somewhat surprised. "Does that mean I don't have to patrol the fourth floor anymore?"
"The mirror has been discovered, and must be hidden again," Dumbledore answered simply. "And, yes. You may return to your previous r

James left his rucksack aside and flung himself into Sirius' bed, staring at the roof with an odd spellbound expression. Remus looked at him half-closing his eyes and asked:
"What's that smirk about?" The dark-haired boy messed up his untidy hair and sat up, still smiling. Sirius, who was calmer now he had some food in his stomach, looked at him suspiciously.
