I Met Alan RickmanI went to New York last week and saw Seminar on broadway. The show was absolutely amazing and so was Mr. Rickman. I will have pictures soon, but the experience was right out of a fanfiction. My home state, Ohio, was mentioned in the play so I told the cast. Mr. Rickman almost doubled over laughing, but he also appreciated that I had traveled so far. I had also told him I rode on a train for 18+ hours to see him. He was so nice and I want to meet him againI Met Alan Rickman4 years ago in Personal More Like This

I don't get it...I don't get it - Severus - James - Harry - Lily - Jily - SnilyI don't get it...4 years ago in Personal More Like This
This is a very long text about my opinion relating to Snily, Jily, Snape, Lily, James and Harry. I'm from Germany, so English is not my first language and I'am aware that I make mistakes. If you are a person who is easily offended by wrong grammar or typos there is a little red x in the right upper corner. The same counts for all who are easily offended by another opinion as their own and like to start flaming or trolling. - END OF WARNING
Seriously what is going on with some Snily fans?
This is the question I'm asking myself every time when I read sentences like: Oooohhhh they were so cute together" or They shared true love" or for a last example: They were so perfect for each other."
Maybe I only got a censored version of the Harry Potter books (and yes I have the last one in English, too), but I personally haven't found at least one word about Lily loving Severus o.O

5 Expert Tips for a Stellar PortfolioThe greatest asset of an artist seeking work is an outstanding portfolio. I can think of no other industry in which skill level can trump a degree to such an extent. Self taught? No problem. Prove you know what you're doing and you're hired. But how do you know what to include in your portfolio? Is it really that big of a deal?5 Expert Tips for a Stellar Portfolio6 months ago in Personal More Like This
Portfolios are an illustrator's resume, and therefore ought to be handled with as much precision and editing—“proofreading” if you will. Wonky anatomy, like spelling errors, can push away prospective employers. Before you show your masterpieces to the world ask yourself if what you've chosen is the best representation of what you have to offer, and soak in these expert tips from illustrators Donald Wu, Neil Swaab, and Chris Oatley:
1. Pick Only Your Best Work
According to children's illustrator, Donald Wu, a “portfolio is only as good as its weakest piece.” Nothing in your portfolio should be less than good. Otherwise clients
A Tribute to Russian Snape ArtistsOne of the things that blew my mind when I first came to DA was the number of Russian fan artists here and how incredibly good they are. In Russia the HP and Snape fandom seems to be very active, and it shows.A Tribute to Russian Snape Artists3 years ago in Personal More Like This
What I particularly like about the Russian artists is that a) for the most part they are highly skilled, b) often they have very much their own style and c) something about this style strikes me as distinctly European. I might be wrong about that last one, and I can't really pin it down to something in particular, but that's how I feel about it, anyway.
As usual, the hardest part of assembling this journal feature was not *finding* the artwork, but choosing and deciding which ones to display. So, same as with the others, this selection is a bit random, based more on my personal taste than anything else. I've included a few people from Ukraine or Belarus, as well as some whose nationality says something else but who obviously speak Russian. Most of the artists have done a lot more

Following a riot last month in the same location, and in the footsteps of dozens before him, another Foxconn worker in China has hurled himself off the roof of a building within the Foxconn campus where many of the devices that surround us everyday are manufactured. Ipods, Ipads, Xbox's, etc.
Research reveals that decades ago…
A musician and poet with a lot on his mind recorded a demo of a song shortly before he was gunned down at a relatively young age in front of his apartment. At the time the demo was recorded, the track was intended for a former band mate’s solo album. Ironically, the title of that band mate’s soon to be released collection of songs was “Stop And Smell the Roses.” The vilified widow of this musician, whom in life he loved deeply, posthumously completed the track and set it for release.
I find these lyrics eerily observant of
7 Reasons Why You Should Go to Art SchoolOne of the most frequently asked questions on this site is the infamous: "Is there a point in going to Art School?" It makes my blood pressure rise every time, not so much the question itself as the fact it is asked to, and answered by, people who have no business giving advice on the matter. This article seeks to answer it once and for all, and be warned that it may come across as cutting in certain places. There's a link to my CV in my journal for those who might wonder about my own qualifications.7 Reasons Why You Should Go to Art School8 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The short answer is: Yes, there is a point. In fact, if you want to make a carreer out of art, or design, you must go to art school. You can dispense from it if one of the following applies to you:
You're a genius in your chosen field. You have an innate grasp of art/design principles and the ability to impose your ideas in the field so that you don't even need to learn the nitty-gritty. Unlikely, or you'd be famous by now.
You need a formation but you have

Soren Prince Snape fun factsSoren Prince Snape fun factsSoren Prince Snape fun facts3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Soren was born on the Halloween of 2005, in Hogsmead, Scotland. He is a scorpio with Libra rising and moon in scorpio. As such he can have a very difficult, albeit rather charming, personality Soren´s delivery was very delicate (as was the entire pregancy)and he was a very fussy and difficult baby.
Soren has ADHD, and as a child needed several outlets such as toys, books, sports and creative games. As a result he developed quite an imaginative and resourceful mind. His parents joined efforts to provide him with an environment that could provide both intellectual stimulus as well as discipline have also given him quite an edge in his academic studies, even tough he can´t help but being all over the place all the time.
Soren was almost sorted into Ravenclaw.
Soren was taught Irish step dancing, piano and singing by his mother. He was part of the Hogwarts choir and was one of Flitwick´s most prized singers. As a child he sang in the contralto range. After

If you have a burning, restless urge to write or paint, simply eat something sweet and the feeling will pass."

The mood is just not right today. Sure, you could pick up a pencil, sit down and push yourself to practice but the result would probably end up in a trash can. Waste of time, waste of material. Besides, the guy that commissioned you two months ago found a professional for the work already.
Expect the success to happen quickly
A year or two, tops, that's all it takes to build a reputation. Being an artist isn't a job like any other, therefore you don't need to work on it every day. No need for
My art was stolen, now what?!You're casually browsing the internet when all of a sudden you see your art ripped on someone's myspace page, or elsewhere on the net, so what do you do?My art was stolen, now what?!9 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Well if you're an American citizen, you're protected under that infamous law known as the DMCA, or the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you right click your ripped image and select properties, youll be able to see the address where the image is hosted. If its photobucket or some other easily accessible site then you have it easy and you know where to go to find a support email address. If your image is hosted on a dot com, youll need to do a WhoIs search and the name server that is listed will usually give away the company that is physically hosting the site. You can then get in contact with most sites through a webmaster or support email if you take a quick look around their site.
So now you know where your image is, what company is hosting it, and how to get a hold of them, then you scratch your head and ask
Say NO to the Internet PricesI've been observing a situation of the artist who courageously set up their prices on very decent prices (in meaning: no more 50 bucks full color image of yer characters! but almost 200$ one for her really nice character painting) where I felt so proud of her for being brave to set up the real price of the art. But I was also a witness of bunch of complaining people (mostly I noticed they were young) screaming that her art is not worth for shitload bucks.Say NO to the Internet Prices4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I really wanted to slap faces of these people.
Really, who decide that someone's art is worth that price?
You do not decide how much wort is my art - as my work.
You do not know how much effort I've put into a piece, countless hours, stress, time, including also a years of practice and studies, frustration as well personal finances into the art materials.
Do you think my art is a fun hobby?
You do not decide if my art is a form of fun and what are real feelings with the artist while working on artwork as part of paid job.
It's no more

i was self taught. by this i mean, i took the initiative and seeked out the knowledge, as no one was offering it.

let me put things in perspective here.
i used to work as a night guard on the beach. every single night from 8 pm to s6 am. after that i would go meet up with my dad who gouarded another beach to get a cup of coffee. we had a bite to eat, and then both went to haul and sell fruits and vegetables.
every evening i was drawing. when the sun set i sat under a street lamp and drew through the night.

an introduction to my Anthro universe.. :PI got a question the other day, about what dog breed Sam and Saunders in their anthro form is supposed to be.an introduction to my Anthro universe.. :P3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I started answering the comment, but soon found out it would just end up being a looooong reply... And I thought, as I wrote, that maybe others would be interested in what breed they and their relatives are, as well as Spike's breed, some character origins, how the people (or anthro) in my little fictive universe views their fellow inhabitants, and a bit of history around this whole thing.
Therefore, I'm deciding on writing a journal entry about this.
The different breeds.
Saunders and Sam were originally, when I first created and designed them, supposed to be Golden Retrievers. Thus, they did in fact both have floppy, furry ears just like the Golden has. For some reason, I felt this made the characters look sad, so I changed - I think - Saunders' ears first to stand up just like a Terrier's ears. Sam's ears changed shortly after. I kept this change as I thought it ma
