I am a sorcerer by trade,
Of grand distinguished lineage;
My father was Grand Master
Of the Order, such a privilege...
But I prefer to stay at home,
Practicing my magic--
I've not been well for two years
Since I lost my wife, how tragic!
A raven came to visit me,
In the bleak December:
He was a man turned to a bird--
He caused me to remember
That I had an obligation to
Stand up against the evil
Of sorcerers like Scarabus
In his castle so medieval...
We fought a duel of magic grim,
The old tyrant was bested,
And now I'm in my study again,
Quite refreshed and rested!

The first time I saw Stephan, he painted a hex sign on my right hand, and I couldn't move my fingers for three hours. He thought it was funny. And even though the event scared the living crap out of me, I couldn't help but think of how devastatingly cute he was. He wasn't your typical dark clothed, eyeliner wearing goth boy. I'd say that if it wasn't for the sterling silver pentacle he wore around his neck, he could have been your regular hottie. He had white-blonde hair hanging around his face and tan skin that almost made him look like a surfer from California. And his eyes were crystal blue, I only noticed because he didn't keep his eyes off of me before he tugged my arm towards him and hexed me.
I guess I should have been mad, but I was more drawn in than scared or angry. I did avoid him though, and watched as all my friends hung on him and flirted, none believing that my fingers actually couldn't move.

A somber raise of the glasses,
the unbroken, yet half empty...
A somber cheers, in memoriam.
The reminder of great loss,
Well known to the uninvolved,
As a mark to remain upon history.
Vindictively vicious was
the scar ever unhealed,
Left upon a body already
mangled and slowly recovering.
How strange, this cycle of affliction.
How off the resemblance of occurrences
O'Lord, my infinite prayers...
to this horrid event in past.
To those taken to their appointed place
here after in the Afterlife.
Those fallen souls may they forever rest...

These walls that surround me,
Are not as much a prison as my mind
I'm afraid to look outside of it,
I'm afraid of what I'll find
Reality, it seems...
Has deserted me...
Ever watchful, ever waiting,
Ever careful where I step
Looking around in the dark and gloom,
I'm wondering how much is left,
Of who I used to be
It's useless...but still I scream...
My mind is running away
I don't know how long I've been here,
I've lost count of the days
His pleasure is my pain...
The darkness is my companion,
It's my security,
So I don't have to see myself,
See the animal in me
In my thoughts is where I hide,
It's the one part of me that's still alive...
He is coming to take me again,
Leaving his brutal violence all over my skin
I must give in, and let him win,
It's the only way I'll see my little girl again
So I don't beg, and I don't plead,
I just lie there, while he makes me bleed
Literal Futurist FeministEvery so often, humans make an innovation which changes their world forever. Fire, steel and computers are obvious examples of technological innovations. Equally important to technology are ideas which innovate people socially. Galileo's idea that the earth revolved around the sun or the American Founding Fathers' ideas about how government should be run are among numerous other examples. These ideas, often controversial and even revolutionary for their time, tended to require groups of people or movements to keep such ideas from being destroyed before they could be shared. The feminist movement has been both praised and scorned for their efforts to preserve and share numerous ideas to varying degrees. In particular, in her "Feminist Manifesto," Mina Loy helped to share the idea that gender roles were highly constrictive on both sexes with a rather remarkable insight for how things ultimately turned out.Literal Futurist Feminist2 years ago in Academic Essays More Like This
According to Loy, traditional gender roles are no longer valid in modern society.

Such Bitter Hatred...Anger.Such Bitter Hatred...5 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
A steady beat of rising anger.
It was almost as though the primal beat of Zebes' molten heart had fractured, had split, and was slowly but surely making its way up. Devouring all within its path and leaving nothing but fiery caves and volcanic vents; sulphur laden air and a wavering miasma of pure hatred.
Norfair was angry.
And the Hunter did not blame it. She had often wondered if a planet could have emotion. If a compacted ball of rock and mineral floating in its predetermined course around a central star in the dark reaches of space could develop a sort of sentience of its own. Norfair had never been this active, she knew. Not until the Chozo had left. Not until the Pirates had come. Not until the once peaceful twisting maze of alien architecture had been twisted into a technological hotbed of experimentation and abuse. Just as Maridia encompassed Zebes' sadness and Brinstar its abundance of life, still scrabbling for purchase; just as Crateria showcased its desolation and th

ringing in my ears.
Echos from the crowd,
When your eyes meet mine,
now a darker shade of blue.
The heat intensifies,
breaking all taboos.
You draw me in,
a deep shade of green.
I don't care about the sin,
when you call me your queen.
We dance slow,
to the rhythm of the night.
Only a beat ago,
your breath blew my hair aside.
Whispering the words I seek,
in a voice I can't resist.
With lips I want to keep,
you silence me in a kiss.
I feel your heart beating,
and it becomes my tact.
Sensing your excessive heating,
when our swaying bodies interact.
One leg between mine,
and your hand in my hair,
while we perfectly align,
we could cut the air.
The song comes to its closure,
we can feel the last beats,
I try to gain some composure,
before we take this dance between the sheets.
Show These Things Tatianna straightened from her crouch in the snow and shielded her eyes in an attempt to see just a little further in spite of the glaring sun. In her free had she grasped her spear just a little tighter; the silence around her was strangely unnerving, especially since this was not as area she normally hunted in.Show These Things5 months ago in Short Stories More Like This
Her normal hunting grounds were starting to be too close to the fighting; every day the valley people seemed to be taking their war further up the mountain. Tati didn’t really care about their war, she had no part in it, but as the fighting shifted so did where the game went. This far up the mountain winter still had a tight hold on everything making it marginally easier to track her game.
A stick cracking nearby made Tati stiffen. She turned slowly in place, looking for anything that might be out of place among the snow covered pines. At first she didn’t see the solder, half hidden by a pine, then light glin

Since the time I was awakened,
From the dawn I lived and breathed.
I have always walked alone,
For I carry a dark disease.
No matter where I go,
No matter where I'm born.
Always it will reveal itself,
Always I am torn.
The moon will shine from cloudless heavens,
And soon the change will take it's place.
My fangs will grow and fur will sprout,
It is my deep and dark disgrace...
Silverback, they called me,
Bane of men and beast alike.
Knights and templar, each and all,
Sought to have me on a pike.
I've killed so many countless men,
They are faceless in my waking dreams.
Bones shall litter the depths of my lair,
As I wash the blood away in streams.
I seek not an end to my torment and pain,
But leave me now in peace to die.
Or come into the den of evil,
And your head will be the first to fly.

For The LostFor The LostFor The Lost6 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
I know you're crying alone tonight,
And my words don't really matter
You are feeling so lost inside,
Your whole world's been shattered
And the numbing pain of rejection,
Is creeping through you...
What do you do...
When love has abandoned,
Left you empty handed,
And all your emotions feel bruised?
I say to you:
It's better to have felt it,
And have it slip away,
Because then you will recognize it,
When it comes to you again
Love is a fickle thing,
And pain is what it sometimes brings
But the joy it can give to you,
Will make you feel renewed
I say to you:
Remember it for what it was,
And learn to live again,
Because if you stay here alone,
You will never let anyone else in
I've seen the proof, with my own eyes,
Of the things that love can do
I know that you are crying,
But I hope that you can see,
This love that has ended,
Gives you a new opportunity

Ten Commandments of Writing1. Have an original plot.Ten Commandments of Writing4 years ago in Reviews & Guides More Like This
If every book was the same, we'd get bored with them pretty quick. Variety is what gives that special spice. Try to come up with a story that's entirely your own. If your work is based off another work, however loosely, make sure you use your own style. Don't just repeat what someone else has already written. Nobody likes a copycat, and you could face an unpleasant lawsuit that way.
2. Have a good title.
If you want people to read your book, you'll need a title that will catch their eye. Make it exciting, but keep it brief, too. Don't make your title so long that it wears the reader down. Try to stay within the limit of ten words. If you have trouble inventing a title, go through your story and decide what the main theme is, what it is in that story that really stands out.
3. Make your characters as believable as possible.
The characters are what make the story a story. You learn about them, sympathize with them, and hate them.

The boy she has welled up over for years, her focus everything was eyes on him ... no not hands she couldn't get that close.
She woke up and looked up at the clock that has been riddled with dust from the lack of loving care she gave her apartment.
She had a few more minutes before she had to report to the library and begin her daily schedule of studying.
So she managed to magnetically drag her prolapsed body of the chair and pour herself some coffee.
Oh who cares if that thing was expired...the girl needed all the caffeine she could get to refuel her exhausted and worn out body.

Nobody knew when he died, or even where or who had done it. All anybody knew was that he was no longer alive, no longer breathing or feeling the rhythm of blood in his veins. He'd turned up in a skip, bleeding, but not mangled. He was stabbed, probably; that's what everyone thought anyway- nobody was really caring how it happened. All anyone knew was that Mycroft Holmes was dead, and that's all anybody needed to know.
But Sherlock wasn't anybody.
John had never seen the great detective cry. He'd seen him laugh, seen him freeze with fear, tremble with rage, smirk with that clear smug air that dangled around his shoulders like a hero's cape. But through everything, he'd never even shed a tear. Not when he was almost poisoned, not when he was nearly killed again and not even when John himself was close so close to Death, he could see its long black shadow already before his eyes; beckoning.
When Sherlock cried it was like watching a stone statue move and crumble,
