No.6 Fanfic--"Sleep Walker" NezumixShion
Nezumi lay in his bed, his small white-haired friend laying beside him, fast asleep. He wasn't entirely sure how the two of them had come to sharing a bed. His guess was that Shion must have accidentally fallen asleep on his bed, and Nezumi himself didn't want to take the couch. After that night, Shion must have thought it was okay to take the bed any night. Thus, they had somehow reached the point where they were sharing a bed every night.
The grey-haired boy sighed quietly. He wasn't used to having half of his sleeping space taken.
However, despite this, Nezumi was just about to drift into sleep, until Shion randomly sat up. This made Nezumi flinch, since Shion was in a deep sleep just seconds before, and didn't even shift around before sitting up. After Shion sat there for awhile, Nezumi eventually decided to question his friend.
"Oi..." Nezumi said as he sat up and brought a hand to Shion's shoulder.
Shion didn't respond, and Nezumi sat up further to look at his face. His red eyes

Walking hand in hand, Skye and Cyan returned from their date at the aquarium. As they approached the antique shop, they spotted Nagisa and Zain walking towards them from the opposite direction. Skye and Cyan were dressed in their winter clothes, but Nagisa and Zain mysteriously had hints of sunburn across their skin. Once they reached the front door of the shop, they froze in place as the realization hit them.
"You were...." Cyan began.
"....gone too?" Nagisa finished.
All four of them entered the shop, expecting the worst. Fortunately, the shop was just as they had left it. Gwen smiled at them from behind the register and greeted them as they entered.
"Eh? Did you two go to a tanning salon?" Gwen said incredulously at the two mermen.
"Uh..." Nagisa couldn't even think of an excuse, for he didn't even know what a tanning salon was.
All four of them were much too concerned about the state of the upper levels to give Gwen a proper answer. As the climbed up the stairs, with Skye in the le

A bright flash of light dyed the windows silver. As the following thunder split the sky in two, Shion's hand, entangled in Nezumi's hair came to a halt. He raised his head from the Rehabilitation and Adaptation Ministry Proposal to look out the window from where he sat on the floor with his back resting against the couch.
He could only see a small portion of the sky from this angle but he could tell it was a raging thunder storm from the way the sound of the wind could be heard from inside the house where they were protected with tall, double glazed, fiberglass windows. Shion could see the topmost branches of the Weeping Willow tree outside their apartment. It looked like it was being hurled by some malicious monster that could not be seen by the eye.
It isn't as bad as that night though.
Although Shion was watching the thunderstorm outside at its full might he didn't feel that strange sense of awe towards it the way he had felt when he was 12. He didn't want to be insi

"Cyan, look at the horizon."
Cyan's head rose from the surface of the water. He brushed back his wet black hair with his fingers so that he could see clearly. At first, he stared at his companion who was resting on a large rock, just barely above the water. Despite the longer hair, the other merman looked almost like a mirror image of Cyan. However, their expressions were not the same. Cyan looked concerned, for there was a large ship approaching in the distance, while the other boy had a defiant smirk across his face as he stared at the threatening ship.
"It's still after us..." Cyan said as he eventually spotted the black sails in the distance.
"Yeah, I know. Annoying, isn't it?" The other merman responded.
"We should hurry," Cyan suggested, and waited for his companion to respond.
The merman on the rock turned to face Cyan with his mischievous grin still on his face.
"Naaaah," the merman disagreed.
"What?" Cyan questioned in disbelief as he watched the other boy dive into the water.

Nezumi listens as Shion's breathing slows down. He thinks he can still feel his erratic heartbeat through the mattress but it could be his too. There really isn't any way to tell them apart now.
Shion's back feels slick with sweat as Nezumi absently traces lines on his skin with a regular rhythm. As he often does while trying to catch his breath, he thinks about stuff he normally doesn't. It may be his soft side making him think like this and he can't say he particularly enjoys it, especially when it takes advantage of him like this in his euphoric state of mind and when he is especially comfortable with every sensation within his still tingling body but he thinks mere thoughts wouldn't really hurt would they?
It's the urge that would hurt, he reflects, the urge that he feels now; relentless, demanding, frustrating... the urge to ask. And he doesn't know why he does it, as with many things concerning Shion, but he yields to it.
Shion's eyes are closed but Nezumi knows he i

"I lost control again," Zain thought.
The albino merman was laying in his new bed, even though he knew he would not be able to sleep. He brought his hand to his forehead and gripped his white hair roughly in frustration.
"Why did I have to cry? Now he's going to be worried," Zain thought.
"Damn it," He found himself saying out loud, "Damn it! I shouldn't make him worry anymore."
Zain quickly became quiet as he heard some one entering the room. He pretended to be asleep, although he knew it probably didn't look believable because he was so tense. Even with his eyes closed, Zain knew that it was Nagisa that had entered the room. In comparison to Arun's loud and clumsy feet, Nagisa's steps were quiet and graceful. The steps grew closer and closer until he knew that Nagisa was standing right beside the bed.
"Keep your eyes closed. Keep your eyes closed," Zain repeated over and over in his head.
"He knows I'm awake," Zain thought as Nagisa continued to stand beside him, "He can see how tens

Zain stared down at the shattered mug at his feet. While finding an item for a costumer, he accidentally bumped into a shelf. Even though it was broken into several pieces, Zain could still see the poorly drawn logo on the front. It was probably a souvenir from a middle-of-nowhere tourist trap town; it was no loss.
"Oh my... that's too bad," said the customer beside him.
Zain merely nodded. This customer was causing him to be even more silent than usual. Her face was bright pink and her eyes were wide as she continuously stared at him.
"Am I really that scary?" Zain thought. He dare not speak for he thought he might terrify her even more.
"A-Anyways," the teen-age girl continued, "the item I want is the necklace on the top shelf. The one hanging on the mannequin."
The tall boy used his long arms to effortlessly remove the necklace from the high shelf. Before handing it over to the costumer, he briefly stared at the jewel in his hands.
"Its such a shame that she's buying it," Zai

Sion glowed even in darkness.
It wasn't about the snowy white hair or the blazing crimson eyes that were now hidden under his eyelids as he slept. During daytime, every time he stepped out of the shadows, sunlight seemed to embrace him with an affectionate fondness. As if it loved him. Even at night, when there was no sun or even without the luster of the moon bathing the wasteland with its rays, Sion always seemed to glow against the pitch-black background. Nezumi could observe this, but he could not explain it. It was just one of the things that was to remain inexplicable and a mystery as long as he lived.
Still, Nezumi couldn't help but wonder as he watched him sleep next to him and as he felt the heat radiating from his limp body from under the blanket. How could he look so peaceful? How could he still glow even as he slept? Nezumi was used to watching him sleep like this, but it baffled him each time. Especially at times like this when he felt like he could give away

It was early in the morning, the sun was not even out in the sky yet. In the dark, Zain attempted to put on his shoes. Without light he could not manage to tie his shoelaces, so he left them unlaced. He did not grab a bag or anything, all he needed was the clothes on his back. The pale merman stared out the window and wondered how many hours of darkness he had left. He could see a sea gull flying in the sky; he didn't have much time.
"Mnnh...." Arun groaned as he woke up from his deep sleep.
"Why is he awake? I was being silent!" Zain thought. He watched as the young merman rubbed his sleepy eyes, and decided not to panic.
"Zain, are you up?" Arun mumbled as he saw the dark silhouette that was Zain.
"Can you get me another blanket? I'm cold..." Arun asked. He still looked like he would fall back to sleep at any second.
Zain reached for a folded blanket on the couch, and walked over to Arun to hand him the blanket. Judging by his footsteps, Arun could tell Zain had shoes on.

Skye finally reached the street that his high school was located. Having run the whole way there, Skye tried to catch his breath. As he stood there with his hands on his knees, he stared at the school building. It was completely silent since it was the weekend. Since Skye lives in a small town located right near the beach, the high school was small as well. He finally caught his breath and cursed at himself for resting. He then approached the school and walked right in, not having to climb a fence or anything like that.
Skye didn't have to worry much about security. The school was never tagged by graffiti, for there were usually never any gangs in small coastal towns like this. If anything, he would have to worry about running into a teacher, janitor, or someone working in the offices.
Once he reached the door to the main office, he tried the door, and it was locked.
"Would a school like this have an alarm system?" Skye wondered. He looked around on the ground for any object that could

This scene happens in the novels when Sion is carrying a dying Nezumi out of the correctional facility. He remembers his conversation with him two days before the manhunt as they sit in his room and plan their escape route via the trash chute...
The dull light from the lamp shined within the room. As he looked at Nezumi's profile with his eyes closed and heard the deeply whistling wind, Sion felt somewhat like he was watching a scene in a play.
He was sitting in the audience, engrossed in the dimly lit and quiet play. Feelings of satisfaction, comfort, melancholy, and something close to fear yet couldn't be given a name were mixed and intertwined together, filling his heart.
If only this moment could last an

Summer school had already begun for the day, but the teacher was running late, leaving all the students sitting in their desks, bored and nothing better to do. Skye, of course, never looked forward to summer school, but now that he had company waiting for him at home, he hated it even more. People were chatting with their neighbors, but Skye simply waited gloomily in his desk. He happened to glance over at the boy sitting next to him.
It was Asher, a quiet boy. He was completely lost in a book, he only paused once to adjust his thick-lensed glasses. It was the book that caught Skye's attention.
"Mystical Creatures," was written across the book, and also featured an image of a muscular troll of some sort that looked like it belonged in a fantasy video game. Skye wasn't surprised that Asher was reading something like that. Skye didn't know the guy too well, but he knew enough that he was the kind of guy who was interested in comic books and video games, basically anything revolving aroun

The crashing of the waves against the rocks beneath them startled Skye, but he didn't loose his grip. Skye and Cyan were descending down a steep cliff to the ocean below. It was far too steep to simply walk down, so they had to rock climb to the bottom. The blonde looked up at his companion above him, who was having more difficulty with his lack of experience with using his legs. Skye was more worried about the ocean below than his rock climbing ability. If he were with any other person, he would have declined to the idea of this little adventure, but since it was Cyan, he knew they both would be safe from drowning. The merman had saved him in the past, after all.
Skye had begun to feel bad for keeping Cyan away from the ocean for so long. Even at night, it was still dangerous, for they might still be spotted by someone. He eventually thought of the idea of going to the ocean without going to the beach. The location they picked was no where near a beach, and could only be reached by ho

Skye gradually woke up. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the light. After glancing at his digital alarm clock, he realized he had slept in to almost noon. Skye wasn't surprised, Cyan and him had stayed out pretty late last night. Luckily for him, it was the weekend and he didn't have to worry about summer school.
The spot beside him was empty as usual. Cyan always had to have his early morning laps.
"Where does all that energy come from?" Skye thought as he massaged his aching shoulder. Besides being very fit, Skye still felt exhausted from last night.
Skye stumbled to the kitchen and prepared a glass of orange juice for himself. He opened the sliding window above the sink that gave a view of the backyard pool.
"Hey, Cyan, what do you want for breakfast?" He called. Skye received no response. The young blond stared out into his backyard through the window, his sleepy brain slowly processing what was happening. The pool was empty.
Skye dropped his glass and it fell into the sink, ca
