Another beautiful drawing of Diana, the Amazon princess. One of the most beloved (and sexiest) comic book heroines of all time.

This was originally a marker sketch which I was only planning to quickly splash some color in Photoshop. But the more I stared at it the more I didn't like her face and I kept retouching and retouching and retouching...it wouldn't end! Fortunately, sleep deprivation made me stop.

You can see the original marker sketch here.

Created 5-15-11.

Finally done! This time I'm happier with the hair, compared to Supergirl's. The surprise here is that the costume I finally choose has changed from the sketch's, as it's a modern one. I like this more than the old golden suit. I think that what I like less it's the skin. In some areas its a little too blackened, but it's not easy to control for me yet.

It's been difficult but I've learned a little more of it, and I've realized that there are some things to change when preparing layers prior to color with shadows. It's something that I'll try to execute in new works to come.

Hope you like her, as an amazon has a little more muscle than the previous girls.

So excited (and a little apprehensive) about Wonder Woman's re-invention for DC's new direction, but I am pleased they gave her back the hotpants. This redesign is less severe for an icon of her calibre, yet fresh enough for a new direction.

I have to confess, I'm only became a Wonder Woman fan after I was exposed to her on animated shows (wait, that didn't sound right). Anyway, Justice League, Young Justice and the DC animated movies have made me a fan of hers over the years.
