I’m Christel Michiels and I’m graphic designer since 2005. I discovered the art of Photo Manipulation here on Deviantart, which I joined in 2006. This curiosity became a passion but my first drafts lacked technique and signification. Communication by imagery is very important to me. I’ve finally found my format and my style after many hours of trial and practice. My craft evolved most between 2008-2009 and a new passion was born in the form of Darkyria Design.Darkyria Design is the creative name that I chose because it reflects my personality and my art. This new knowledge of Photo Manipulation was added to previous skills acquired earning my bachelor degree in Graphic Design and it allows me to explore beauty

Urbex #20Abandoned Homes...Urbex #201 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Probably some of the most eery kind of urbex photographs are that depicting Abandoned homes. I recently went to visit the offices in a village that I work in, that houses many people with disabilities. Most of them live individually in their own homes, but there is a huge complex tucked out the back that used to house lots and lots of individual peoples rooms. One day the building was condemned, and everybody just upped and left as it was. The tables are still set, the bedrooms are still full - it's quite bizarre. I will soon persuade them to let me in and take some photos! Anyway, enjoy some of the abandoned homes here on deviantART...

3 Day Weekend!!!!!3 Day Weekend!!!!!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
WHERE DO I START????
Well, I plan to do all the fun activity today, and vegetate with books the rest of the weekend....first to the post office, to mail off some treasures to :iconshirley-agnew-art: and her daughter :icontwinkle-little-bat: who are two of the nicest people you can meet here, there or anywhere!
THEN........it's off on a mysterious photo-expedition, and I promise you that the images I bring back will be quite different form any others you have seen in my gallery heretofore! I hope!!!
In the meantime, take a gander at these......

Too Expensive for You vs Too Expensive, PeriodFriendly reminder not to tell people their adopts are too expensive. Saying it's out of your price range - that's okay. But don't come to us, we who are selling adopts for hundreds of points, and say we need to lower our prices. Because if you think about it in real money, it's pretty darn cheap. Starting bids never seem to exceed $10.Too Expensive for You vs Too Expensive, Period7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Friendly reminder not to be afraid to raise your prices. You put hard work into your adopts, you deserve more than a mere 20 /25 cents.
Friendly reminder that to SOME people, this isn't just a hobby, something they do for fun. It's something they want to pursue a career in. And sometimes adopts are their only source of income. Twenty five cents a piece wouldn't put food on the table even if you slaved away, making a ridiculously impossible amount of adopts.
Friendly reminder that, hey, I have the right to be charging minimum wage. We all do. In fact, charging minimum wage for our art would be the right thing to do. If my starting bids
70th anniversary of the MV Wilhelm GustloffToday is the anniversary date for the most horrific maritime disaster in history, the MV Wilhelm Gustloff, the forgotten Nazi Titanic. This year's one is unique because it is the 70th anniversary. Now technological speaking, the Wilhelm Gustloff isn't actually an ocean liner but a cruise ship (and no, it's not the world's first cruise ship) and while this club doesn't cover cruise ships, the Gustloff is the only one that will be.70th anniversary of the MV Wilhelm Gustloff4 months ago in Personal More Like This

"Take Only Photographs, Leave Only Footprints." - Urban Explorers Creed
Sometimes it's easy to forget the things around us that were once iconic and useful. In everyday life that could include a multitude of household objects, bits and bobs, clothes, gadgets - all sorts. But in Photography - a specific aspect of Photography - people close doors and board up buildings sometimes with little or no notice. They erect a fence around that old asylum and ship everything out or they install security guards at the boundaries of an army camp. Those places get forgotten and one day there will be nobody left that will remember them. That's where Urban Exploration comes in.
I'm not telling you to go out and scale the wall of your nearest derelict hospital in the name of photography. It takes a certain kind of person (and agility!) to do that anyway, but there are many depths to U
How to beat procrastination (part 1)As I said on a previous submission, I'm planning to make some tutorials on the upcoming December. Before that, however, I feel like I can help on another subject, which comes before even starting your drawing: Procrastination. I mean, procrastination towards your own drawings. How to beat procrastination (part 1)6 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
If you're not familiar with this word:
pro-cras-ti-na-tion |prəˌkrastəˈnāSHən, prō-|
"the action of delaying or postponing something."
Why am I talking about this?
Well, a year ago I used to be a professional procrastinator. I've imposed the 365 Days of Doodles challenge to myself for this particular reason.
While procrastination is to some degree a natural phenomenon and can’t be completely eradicated, you can use the following strategies to get in the habit of getting drawings done.
Mind that these are not golden rules or such, just strategies that work fo

Antietam/SharpsburgWith the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Antietam (Creek)/Sharpsburg coming up beginning on September 17, it seems an appropriate time to consider the mood of the Civil War come September 1862.Antietam/Sharpsburg3 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's particularly important to note that the war was expected - by both Union and Confederate societies/forces - to be no more than a 3 month conflict after war broke out in April 1861. The north entered the war determined to restore the Union to its antebellum form, the south confident in seeking independence to determine their own decisions over the question of slavery.
What would come out of drawn out and bloody warfare would eventually meet upon the slopes of South Mountain, and finally along the banks of the Antietam Creek in Maryland.
The Battle of Antietam proved to be not only a testing ground for both armies, their officers and men, but a site of extreme loss. This engagement was the bloodiest single day of combat in American history.
