This lumberjack is a bear. Maybe he sometimes works with Smokey to make firebreaks, but mainly he is just trying to earn his pay like anyone, so he can afford decent housing and fish on the table.
There are two photos which were used heavily for reference, one is #sb10069056c-001 on Getty, and one is [link] which was also used for texture. For texture I also used [link] and [link]

. . .Technically a Sphinx isn't part of the 50 Fantasy Creatures Challenge. Which is why I'm not adding it to the list.

Actually I was looking up Mummies and Pharaohs and the like when I inadvertantly found myself in the Greek Sphinx section of wikipedia.

About an hour later and this is done. . .and I'm now in the Naiad section. :XD: Boy I could use some Ridalin. . .

What started this was the fact that, despite Sphinxes having plenty of sculptures and showing up in a lot of paintings, it's never shown in flight.

It's also depicted as having a woman's torso ever so slightly as well; just enough to show some boobage. :O Those poor Greeks. . .

For this, I tried to stick to a Greek painting style in the face and the flow. And God knows Greek paintings f-ing flow.

Man it was hard figuring out how to categorize this.

I've been seeing lots of crickets around lately. They are one of the few insects that don't give me the creeps and I thought, "Why are there no cricket superheroes?" Probably because the cricket can't do anything much on the cool side. Doesn't climb walls, shoot webs etc. But MAN can those little things JUMP! This guy, The Cricketeer, can jump like a mile when he really has to. He has slightly tougher skin than most humans. About as tough as plywood maybe. Seemed like the right toughness to be in proportion to a carapace. He can also tell what the weather is going to do before it happens...hm, there's his alter ego right there. TV weatherman! I don't know if thats a real ability of the insect but there are rumors about it. And he can produce a loud chirping noise that can stun bad guys. Or annoy coworkers. Whichever is needed. Although, if he did it around his coworkers it would defeat the whole secret identity thing so scratch that. Oh yeah, he can communicate with real crickets.

Not an epic hero but a fun one.

With this sculpt I tried to replicate a bust made by Jordu Schell, a master sculptor that doesn't really needs any introduction I guess :) His original sculpt can be found here: [link] The likeness is not 100% accurate, but I'm pretty happy with the final result.

An almost finished oil painting...just the fins to work on I think.
um, its just a fish taking a stroll...or a giant leap in evolution...or is he standing there contemplating the meaning of life?

Well, I'm sure it will all make sense once I've finished the painting right ? ;)
