AquaTip: Stretching PaperThis is the another installment of an ongoing feature called AquaTips. Members of the club are encouraged to submit tips and techniques they discovered or use to create and enjoy watercolors. Just send a note to the club with "Tip" in the subject line and we will put it into our AquaTips collection. Come together watercolorists, and share the treasure that is our knowledge!AquaTip: Stretching Paper2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Recently we had a poll asking how much did you like stretching, it turns out, some of you didn't know what stretching was (don't worry, we were all begginers like you at some point) so I put together this journal doing a small compilation of stretching techniques and tutorials.
Some time ago, we did a Community AquaTip about it AquaTips - Stretching Watercolor Paper
And here we have some tutorials that are featured in our group.
USEFUL STUFFHere's some nice useful things to check out (if you havent already) that i like to look at to improve or just watch for inspirationUSEFUL STUFF5 months ago in Personal More Like This
FYI i learn more from watching things so most of these are gonna be video tutorials, artists talking while painting and timelapse paintings, since i prefer analyzing peoples workflow and try it out than straight tutorials that tell you what to do (not there's anything wrong with it though )
LEVEL UP: https://www.youtube.com/user/levelupsessions
omg.... the amount of stuff you can learn from these amazing artists is crazy! i suggest watching from session 1 till the latest. you cant miss a thing these guys say, plus these guys are pretty fun most of the time. its a nice light, but informative bunch of videos
Marc Brunet is a great teacher! i really enjoy how he explains things and just his process in general. really good to listen to and pretty entertaining to watch

Headshot Commish [CLOSED]Headshot Commish [CLOSED]2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Since school's started I would have relatively less time for my artwork, but since I want to at least keep up a constant practice I've decided to open up commissions for a month.
I'm taking ??? points each. In my opinion... VERY cheap....mainly because this is for practice purposes. The expected quality will not fall below what you see in the samples. Cause you know... you can only get better with practice right? Right?! :icontearplz: Many people would be saddened if that were not true haha.
There are no slot limits. I will take your commission as long as you comment/note before Feburary. The piece will be finished within 1 month of the order.
If you order 4 headshots, I'll throw 1 in for free. I don't mind if the order is split between friends, just make sure 1 person orders the 4.
So ask your parents, ask your friends. :iconcannotevenplz:

Doctor Whooves and ShippingSmall little rant here actually, so sorry ahead of time.Doctor Whooves and Shipping2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But holy moly I get so irritated with shipping sometimes. Because I play Derpy and I do a series with Doctor Whooves and Derpy, I get the brunt of this quite often.
Now, I'm all for shipping Doctor and Derpy. It's my favorite pony ship. But good GOD does everyone have to be so assholishly RABID about it?! It's really freaking me out. If I put the Doctor with ANY other pony at ANY point, even if it's NOT a ship, people throw a giant temper tantrum "NOOOOO IT HAS TO BE DERPY THIS IS STUPID DOCTORxDERPY FOREVERRR"
It's annoying and extremely rude, okay? I cater to the shippers a lot. I have a few videos, images, and series which ship the two blatantly, such as the Derpy Love Story dub and Lovestruck Derpy. I love the ship but I also am open to other ships and can even enjoy them if they have logic behind them.
To be honest, I just like shipping the Doctor with all sorts of things. I like to play around. Understand that he's a charac

May 2013 - 31 day PAINTING challenge!UPDATE:May 2013 - 31 day PAINTING challenge!2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This challenge was certainly a great experience for me. I made some mistakes that cost me a lot of time, for example sometimes I spent 5 hours on a piece that turned out wrong and instead of moving on I took a new paper and tried to make new work within the remaining hour or so. During second week, I've decided to keep the scrap works a part of my challenge, even though I won't publish them they still appear as a thumb on my challenge table. It's simply not possible for me to do 7 good pieces sometimes. Also, posting every day took way too much time to keep up, so I've decided I will be publishing remaining artworks through June continuously.
What I learned during this project of mine? It gave me a better idea about how much time I spend on one piece and what amount of time I waste on post-production. I had to make a few arrangement that hopefully make me more effective today. But mostly, I've tried new subjects that I totally LOVE, mostly architecture and flow

All my wigs are from eBay. There is not anymore the ones left which I used for Rose, Dave, Porrim and Kanaya. My Karkat is this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Reborn-Takeshi-Yamamoto-cosplay-wig-/250987686298?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a7008299a . Lapirin owns Roxy's so I do not know the seller, but I know that it's from eBay too.
All my t-shirt's prints (Alpha!Dave, Dark!Rose, Default!Rose, Karkat, Roxy, Kanaya) are made with T-shirt transfer paper. Basically it works this way: first you make the print with computer, then print it (to transfer paper), cut the print from the paper and iron it to your t-shirt. Easy as it can be.
Godtier!Rose is slightly different since I wanted the print to be a golden one, not a yellow. I made a
PE: Watercolour and saltWatercolour and saltPE: Watercolour and salt8 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Watercolour painting provides us with fantastic possibilities to create various textures. They can be achieved in many different ways with use of many different side components and equipment - in this article, I'll focus on salt textures. It usually takes time to get a handle of it - like everything else - but the outcome is definitely worth it.
Water and pigment
The three factors that determine the effects are the amount of water, amount of pigment and amount of salt, with the two first being the harder part. The more water you use, the more time it takes for the paint to dry and the more time the salt has to work - therefore the pigment will be pushed further away and you'll get bigger, paler spots between darker pigment borders. Less water will get you smaller, star-like

Announced a visual novel: Dysfunctional Systems. Release Date: April 4. check it out here: http://dischan.org/devblog/2013/01/dysfunctional-systems-announcement/
Dysfunctional Systems is an episodic visual novel chronicling the life of Winter Harrison. Having long become comfortable with her utopian society, Winter is surprised to learn that there are other worlds in other planes of existence. These worlds are quite different from hers, ranging from troubled, to dystopian, to futuristic or fantastical. However, they are all riddled with problems that, if not resolved, may adversely affect her home world. She is chosen to become a "mediator", charged with the maintenance of order in these chaotic planes, and so enters a vocational school for training. Episode 1 details her second shadowing of a seasoned mediator, only a few weeks into her first year. She and her mentor enter a world seemingly

2. - Ink can be water-soluble or, unlike watercolor, waterproof. Once dried out, it stays where you left it, it doesn't run away from you!
3. - Ink can be watered down and used as washes, just like watercolor, but it can be used at full strength, achieving more consistent results!
4. - Ink, when dried on paper, results in a very appealing velvety surface.
5. - Ink is in many cases a lot cheaper than watercolor, even school quality (very cheap) inks bring lovely and very satisfactory results.
6. - Inks are colorful! Forget the black ink, you will be able to buy whole variety of colored inks. Also, you can mix them together to create many more colors & hues!
