The new logoWelcome to Zeviantart !The new logo8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Seriously, to develop a little bit on why I'm not a big fan of the new logo.
First, I think it severely lacks personality. I mean it could be a logo for basically anything: a new brand of revolutionary ball pens, a new web search engine, an hospital, an oil company deciding to show how environment-friendly they are etc.. There is little that evocate an art site to me. The previous logo was very recognizable and carried a strong identity with it. you could immediately catch it anywhere, the trademark of a good logo.
This one ? not really, it just doesn't sticks.
The first time I saw it appears on my Firefox tabs, my thought process went like this : " ugh this green looks ugly on that grey bar." ( yeah that was actually my first thought XD ) And then " is it a tab to download some new firefox widget ?" I was very surprised when I found out it was DA's new logo. To be fair though, it looks better when it's bigger and on the DA site
Little mirror trickSomeone recently told me how, when drawing a picture, putting it aside for a little while and then coming back later on it allowed him to see better the mistakes in it.Little mirror trick3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I think it's very true !
When you draw for long on a picture, you start to somehow become used to it. Errors no longer shock you because you have become familiar with them. And the more it goes, the more comfortable things become and the more difficult it is to be critical of your own work.
So here is a quick little tips for artists, very handy
If you worked a couple hours on a drawing, try to either put it in front of a mirror if it's on paper, or to flip it if it's on photoshop ( Image / rotate canvas / flip canvas horizontal ).
It's magic ! suddenly you no longer see your drawing, but a different one. a drawing that isn't yet yours. And so your eyes can immediately become critical again, picking up errors you simply didn't see before.
It can be a little painful sometimes but it helps

My DeviantArt StoryI first saw DeviantArt in late 2006 while searching for fan art, bu I didn't join until 2007. I saw this as a great source of fan art and other reference material, but it wasn't until I really wanted to showcase things beyond fantasy (as I was on Elfwood Art at the time) that I really decided to try this site out. For over a year I posted random things before I released my first comic, NaruHina Chronicles as a practice comic to both increase my skills, and get feedback, before it took off really well, and gave me a small following that continues up to today, and has thanks to my watchers, given me confidence in my art, and helped me move towards more Original stuff, away from fan art and fan fiction. My DeviantArt Story1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Critique is a DialogueCommunication is a collaborative effort.Critique is a Dialogue2 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
Students and teachers, doctors and patients, the UN and member states—no matter how different the backgrounds are, no matter the gap in experience or who's leading the conversation, it's important for communication to succeed. And the only way to do that is by making sure there's always room for a dialogue.
Dialogue: two sides having a conversation together.
Based on the literature community chat we had not too long ago, critique seems to be desirable. This blog is a response to the fact that a number of people mentioned dissatisfaction with a) how much critique they're getting, and/or b) responses to critiques they're providing.
This is about critiquing people you don't know, and who didn't request a Serious Business Full-Length Critique.

I've been "dabbling" in art for oh man....Pretty darn near 20 years. (I'm old....) Way back in the day when there used to be such things as Gaming Magazines like Nintendo Power (anyone? Anyone else remember those? ) my brother would order them through the school magazine and book drives. (see...old!) and I would go through and marvel at the game art. Back then, it was 90% traditional art. I would go through these books and copy these fantastic characters and scenes. And yes, I would actually trace. *GASP!!* They even had a fanart section where you could send in stuff. Its there I first found a man by the name of Ryan Kinnard and I looked forward to his newest arts in Playstation Magazine.
It wasn't until around 1994ish that I discover Sailor Moon and anime.&
When Tomboys win the love interestI have been annoyed for awhile now. A majority of the films, tv shows, etc seem to have it where the Tomboy is usually overlooked by the guy she loves by a new girl that appears and is a complete girly girl or had to change into a girly girl herself. So I was wondering, does anyone know of an Anime, Film, TV Show or anything else where the Tomboy actually gets the guy she loves without having to change? When Tomboys win the love interest1 year ago in Personal More Like This

He was the leader of the “fauve” (wild beast) artists, whose style of painting made a brief but indelible impact on the art world in 1904—08 with only three exhibitions.
The “fauves” sought to elicit emotions from their art by employing bright, often dissonant colors in depicting their subjects, even where no such natural color was to be found. Emotion was desired more than descriptive accura

Anwyays, I'm a tad dissapointed. For few things I didn't like of how the manga ended, and some of them are the reasons of why I'm not a big Naruhina fan that i used to be. But I only will discusse here the naruhina related, not the ones that made me get away of Naruto's fandom.
So yeah, it got canon. But I rly think Kishi should have made something else; something more. It wasn't enough. I was not asking for a kiss, but at least a more evident hint of Naruto falling for Hinata. But no, Kishi rathered to keep trolling narusakuers with silly jokes that some people took way too serious. That rly ruins it. But well, he said he sucked at writing romance, and now he's proved to be right. Yes, Kishi. You DO suck at writing romance, that's why you're not an A++ writer. xD
Whatever, I'll have to do some naruhina stuff now! Although I won't do anything related to their kids, but something more romantic, beca

So, Avatar. Pretty solid series. Loved it from start to finish and still love it after multiple viewings. When I heard there was going to be a spinoff series, I was thinking "woo aww yeah more avatar!", just like a lot of people were.
Season 1, not bad, pretty cool. Liked it on its own, could've ended there and I would have been satisfied.
Season 2. Oooook, that's different. I didn't much care for the backstory into how the Avatars became a thing, I rather liked the mystery of it. It seemed like a really heavy thing to deal with in the middle of a series, especially when everyone's getting crazy spirit powers, turning into giants and duking it out kaiju-style over a city. But ok, I can deal with that, it was a good set up for. . .
Season 3. The. Best. The mission to gather the new air benders and recreate the air nomad culture was a really cool idea. Sahir and his crew are my
What The Crap Is Even Furry?I think sometimes it gets confusing when we're discussing "furry" because the word covers several different definitions and literally nobody wants to be left out of including their Doom cyberdemon fancharacter and who are you to judge, anyhow? What The Crap Is Even Furry?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Being an english major with an interest in linguistics, I find this is simultaneously a boon--as the lack of solid definitions for any of these prevents people from being shoved out the door for failing to meet that definition . . . but at the same time, it causes an enormous amount of confusion when we're talking past each other saying two (or fourteen) entirely different things with the same word.
Furry as it is used commonly means:
1 - The furry fandom in general. What this necessarily encompasses is hard to pin down; to some people you have to actually accept yourself as part of the fandom, but it's also possible to be a big fat geek about it and clearly be in denial of whether or not you are

Something else I feel that I need to mention in order to contextualize my journal better is that, I did not intend for the list to contain every exhaustive permutation of subcategories for anything I mentioned. Point 4 by itself (common furry style) contains all sorts of variations on anatomy etc--the thing is, with each definition, what it means is that when someone says "furry" they don't MEAN to drill down to an exact picture in their head (This is not the Furry Code after all).
But, nonetheless they usually mean something when they use the word, especially when they use it to exclude other things. Let me give a few examples. (These are all paraphrases of things I've read on the internet at one point or another)
"I'm not a furry, I only draw anthro art."
"LOL that's not fur

*SPOILERS* Do not look unless you have read the new Naruto mini-series!!
* Clear? good!
So yeah, i read the new first chapter of the Naruto 7th Hokage series, and it was fun, i enjoyed the slice of life type setting amidst Sarada's father issue of never having met Sasuke.
But... this is something cool, when I first saw Sarada i said... man, she looks more like karin... Oh I know, Karin and Sasuke had a kid, but she died during childbirth, and Sakura takes care of er for Sasuke (even getting married) it was a joke, but I thought, yeah, fan theory, I might stick to it until Kishi says otherwise, and end of the first chapter of this new series and... WAIT, Karin is possibly Sarada's real mother?!!
now I;m all, seriously, no way, I was once again on line with Kishi XDD though you have to admit it was kinda obvious, going by looks.
now the only question is... will this actually j

Nature’s “Show Fish”
Koi are those “giant goldfish” you see in fancy little ponds outside stylish people’s homes. Only, though both are varieties of carp, koi and goldfish are only distant relatives. Koi are bred for beauty, exhibiting a wide variety of colorations in distinct patterns and “scalations.” They are “ornamental” rather than edible fish. They are living abstract artworks in motion, endlessly gliding in and out of new compositions for their watery “canvas.”
I GOT MY FIRST JOB!!!Today was a marvelous reminder of God’s perfect and amazing timing. For the last year and a half, I have not had a job because of schooling. My elderly grandmother and her sister have been supporting me month to month and I constantly believed the lie that I was selfish and ungrateful. I constantly guilt-tripped myself and told myself I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t do anything right.. I was consumed by fear of making mistakes.I GOT MY FIRST JOB!!!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I have never worked a job in my life. Yea I do informal jobs like cleaning a persons house or babysitting, but never anything in public. I am 20 years old and I have never worked! Lol!
So I began to cry out to The Lord about it last year around summer vacation. My family was harassing me and telling me I was selfish. But I heard God through the midst tell me, “don’t worry about it Alex. Don’t even search for work. I have it under control.” “But God- what about when I am done with ministry school?!! I can’t even

on a side note I personally preferred Riot's art back then, with that that painterly and vivid style, compared to the super refined, sharp but also a bit more cold renders they are doing now...
But I digress ! XD
It's a really interesting channel, with some good videos about illustrations and comics, where Kienan show his techniques, how he goes around to create his pictures and the thought process behind it.
Now that part alone is already interesting and well worth checking for any aspiring artist as he is talented and possess a good understanding of what he is doing, with a knack for teaching it to others which is not a very common trait among artists.

5 Tips on Getting Started1. Do your research. Everyone can benefit from a little research. I bet if Paolini had, he wouldn't have written Lord of the Star Wars Dragonriders of Pern. Stephanie Meyer might have depicted Forks a little more accurately. Odds are, the idea for your story is not as unique as you think. Are there other stories out there like it? How can you make yours different? (And saying "Because it's meeeeeeee!" doesn't count. Boy, does it ever not.) Research can be anything from reading a vast swathe of YA to find out what's selling right now, to skimming Wikipedia articles for just how that piece of armor or weapon worked, to interviewing someone knowledgeable about a subject you want to include in your book. Most of the time, if you tell people you're writing a book, they get really excited about being consulted about it. And yes, that's a lot of reading. 1. Conflict is when one or more opposing forces meet. In a lot of self-insert fics and Mary Sues, I often see a lot of scenes where the character is loved and accepted and lauded. The writer laments their lack of said lauding in reality, while the readers froth at the mouth. We want conflict! Conflict, dammit! If you have three scenes that consist of the character getting an A, hanging out with his friends, and arguing with his parents, I can guarantee you that the scene we'll be most interested in is the scene with the argument. Conflict is pretty simple. Fat man wants sandwich. Fat man can't stand up to get sandwich. Conflict. (Actually,
