Ha! Finally a full group image of the My Little Pony group! See, we do have a Twilight.

Rainbow Dash - :iconscruffyrebel:
Fluttershy - Jessica Nigiri
Pinkie Pie - Aktrez [link]
Rarity - me
Twilight Sparkle - :iconriddle1:
Apple Jack - :iconxsoulxxxreaperx:

Since I have been majorly supplying My Little Pony cosplayers all over the world this year with accessories to complete their costumes, it was a no-brainer to cosplay from the series at some point. Plus, I love the tv show!

I was ecstatic with how this group came together. Each girl created their costumes and I made the appropriate pony accessories for all of us.

Totally dig the top photo because it summarizes each character so well in one shot. The bottom photo is us doing THE HOOF BUMP!

Construction notes:
My Rarity dress was designed by me - inspired by the character and the show of course! I always thought of Rarity as the fashionista of the group, elegant with a sweet flair. I made a fully lined and boned halter dress and used a purple stretch velvet to make the trim and inserts. I handmade 3 tiers of ruffles from a sparkle organza by serging strips together, then hand pleating the ribbons into ruffles. My cutie mark (3 diamond shapes) were rhinestone plate earrings taken apart and attached to the front of the dress. Rarity would definitely approve of blinged out diamond shapes :). I found a sheer French silk with a diamond pattern on it (Hello, cutie mark shape!) and made a pattern for a bolero, then sewed it together as a little cover over the dress. My wig was a great shade but I wish I had had the time to properly style it. It's a bit flat for my taste. Overall it was so much fun to dress up in a fun little costume with friends.

These lovely friends of mine asked me a few months ago to make some accessories for their My Little Pony cosplay group. :iconvampirate777: - Twilight Sparkle - organized the group and had the idea of using my copyrighted fox ears without fur as unofficial pony ears. I am all about creativity and interpreting My Little Pony characters as humans is just too adorable. I was flattered that Mary thought my cosplay products would be suited for the MLP group! I had sculpted a unicorn horn anyway, based on customer demands, so I made horns for Rarity and Twilight as well, and my cosplay wings were used for Fluttershy's and Rainbow Dash's costumes too.

The girls each put together their costumes and they are:
:iconvampirate777: as Twilight Sparkle
Ashley as Rarity
:iconaiuchi: as Fluttershy
:iconxsoulxxxreaperx: as Rainbow Dash
:iconmollyisacatlady: as Apple Jack
:iconchibikat: as Pinkie Pie
Diana as Fluttershy

Surprisingly, this group's MLP costume debut started a whole avalanche of requests for these accessories for other MLP cosplayers. I finally got overwhelmed by the emails (still get them on DA lol) so I put listings for the ears, wings and horns on my website's online store. You can order your hand made pieces right here: [link] yayahan.bigcartel.com

Thanks to my adorable fantastic fabulous friends above, I have watched the 1st season of the show and can't wait for the 2nd season. I also must compulsively cosplay my own version of Rarity soon, since I kinda distribute pony magic all over the world lol.

Character: Lady Sif - Thor (Marvel)
Costume made by Yaya
Photography by Brian Boling
Makeup and model: Yaya

I made this costume for San Diego Comic Con after gathering materials and reference for several months. I love badass warrior girls and the color red, so Sif was a no brainer! I really liked her character in the comic book as well, from the fact that she grew up with Thor and trained along side him, to their on and off romance over the years, and Sif's strong, loyal and courageous nature.
I used a mix of materials for the costume, from suede to leather to metallic 4-way stretch to fur and wood. I drafted patterns for all the pieces and made everything within about 3 - 4 days. The corset is steel boned, and it was fun to make arm and leg armor pieces. I also enjoyed beading the wig and making the adornments on the hips.

More pics coming soon, and I plan on re-wearing Sif at Dragoncon!

Character: Yuuko - XXXholic
Costume made and modeled by me
Photos by Mario Vargas

I made this costume in March 2008 - as a long term CLAMP fan, I suppose it was only a matter of time before I cosplayed Yuuko XD. I loved this design specifically for the butterflies.

The photo location is a historical hotel in Mexico City, during my guest appearance at TNT 15.

Construction:
I got a heavy black poly/wool blend for the kimono, and a beautiful burgundy silk for the lining and ruffles. After sewing the outer layer but before putting in the lining, I appliquéd about 14 or 15 butterfly shapes onto it. The pattern for the butterflies was just free drafted - I cut them out of a yellow fabric and after spending a few hours stitching down the edges neatly, I got to paint the details onto the appliqués for the next night and part of the morning lol. I remember watching a whole season of CSI while painting the butterflies, and it became quite the surreal experience. O_O
As the butterflies dried, I made many yards of ruffles and also did my own gold trim for the costume. Stitched it all together with the lining and a big part of the costume was done. I love the fabrics I scored because they are almost wrinkle free, no matter how much I shove the costume into a suitcase.
The waist cincher is made of a burgundy pleather and I plan on remaking it soon. The material was bought in a rush and is not very sturdy. The cincher has a fake lace up front.
Lastly I worked on the wig, which took some engineering. The main problem was balancing the weight of the extension loops on my head, but in the end it worked out great and I can bend over and sway my head without things shifting. The bat crown and hairpieces are made of styrene plastic that's been heat formed.

Rainbow Dash!

Made for a MLP group I did with my friends :)

Everyone seems to love my wig...A LOT. I do too! I feel it's the only thing that really "makes" the costume.

The wig is actually 1.5 wigs put together. It started as a Rainbow "Punk" style wig. Bangs were restyled and and another half of a Rainbow wig was added to make the ponytail. Voila.

This costume was really rushed, made in 2 days actually, and I was a bit rushed getting into it the day my group wore it, so there are little things I still need to do to it or change on the shorts, wigs, and track jacket that I just didn't have time to do.

Jacket was bought in the L.A. Fabric District. I ironed on the letters and the bf has an embroidery machine that we used to make the giant cutie mark (and the cutie mark on the shorts). Ideally I had wanted to modify the jacket in such a way that it already had wings attached to it, or could have a slit for the wings to poke through...but I simply ran out of time to do anything more than put the appliques on.

But, for a rushed together costume...I'm pretty happy with it and more importantly, it was SO much FUN to wear!

Uploading more shots to round out my gallery. I need to stick my costumes in folders but it's such a daunting task as I have so many...

I love Marvel and X Men, and the 2nd live action movie was my favorite out of the bunch. Plus I totally dig Kelly Hu's outfit, especially the black jacket/corset hybrid and the adamantium claws.

I made the jacket, which was interesting to say the least, what with the leather ribbing and quilting and full corset lace back. I had to pattern it out myself and it took 2 days to sew together. I spent hours on just the sleeves alone.

Brian of BountyHardware.com [link] made the adamantium claws for me, they attach straight to my fingers and are sized to each of my nails.

I was wear contacts for this shoot as well.

Character: Amber - "Sucker Punch"
Costume made by - Yaya Han
Photography by Brian Boling
Model - Yaya Han

Thank you, Brian, for taking these shots at SDCC!

You can see the costume pretty well in these pics - I made it the same way they did it in the movie, which is by cutting up a Vietnam era pressure flight suit and altering it HEAVILY.
If you look at the images of the actual costume on display here: [link] On the right side of the hip there is a finished hole, through which an air hose is attached to the plane and on the inside of the flight suit there are rubber air bags sewn in that expand with air and compress the pilot's body parts so they won't pass out from all the flight maneuvers.
Brian was able to get his hands on such a flight suit for me and I spent hours seam ripping the inside air bags and the pressure tubes that followed the length of the arms, legs and back of the suit.
Then I chopped it in half and replaced the zipper, made the pants into chaps, lined them, and used the left over matching fabric to make the hat. I had to make my own pattern for the hat.
The gun/magazine holster and belt were the next to tackle, and I give many thanks to Kathy of GodSaveTheQueenFashions for helping me pick out the leathers and tools and showing me leather working techniques. I used a heavy veg tan leather hide and made my own pattern for the pieces, cut them out and punched stitching holes for hours. Then heavy duty snaps were added as well as D-rings. After making all the pieces, I hand dyed them black and shined them up. It took about a day and a half to make and assemble the whole get-up.
The gloves are neoprene and leather.
Last pieces to make were the panties, bra and choker, and thank God I found the right pleated trim. I altered a bra by adding the zipper and the trim, same with the panties. Add some fishnets and a lollipop and I was ready to kill zombie nazis!

I'll say that by the end of SDCC, I had eaten 6 lollipops and was pretty sick of them. Thinking of casting a fake lollipop, but then I'd have to put plastic in my mouth ugh.

Looking forward to more Sucker Punch timez with my ladies at Dragoncon!
