Say NO to the Internet PricesI've been observing a situation of the artist who courageously set up their prices on very decent prices (in meaning: no more 50 bucks full color image of yer characters! but almost 200$ one for her really nice character painting) where I felt so proud of her for being brave to set up the real price of the art. But I was also a witness of bunch of complaining people (mostly I noticed they were young) screaming that her art is not worth for shitload bucks.
I really wanted to slap faces of these people.
Really, who decide that someone's art is worth that price?
You do not decide how much wort is my art - as my work.
You do not know how much effort I've put into a piece, countless hours, stress, time, including also a years of practice and studies, frustration as well personal finances into the art materials.
Do you think my art is a fun hobby?
You do not decide if my art is a form of fun and what are real feelings with the artist while working on artwork as part of paid job.

Price of the Art on dAI would like to move a very specific thread.Price of the Art on dA5 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's about the price of art and commissions. Because there are a lot of questions; what decides for the price of art? Why it is worthy? And why do we buy commissions?
Some is already written here: http://goldenwolf.deviantart.com/journal/26548172/#comments
I've met with many people who were complaining about the price of art, especially why it is expensive and it doesnt deserve. Even some person did a drama just because prices of my art are *too* expensive. And I'm not alone, I've saw on some proffessional artists who are on dA as well.
I noticed the price of art on deviantART is very low.
Like many people complains that full colored picture plus you get original for 50-70$ is too much. I did some research and counted how much artists originally earn (out of dA)- even a simple artist earns 5 times more than great artists on dA which I know.
Do you know on Eurofurence just only PRINT can be sold there for 100-500 euros?

The Price of ArtThis journal entry has been in my mind for awhile, and now with having posted the article about artists deserving respect as paid professionals I think its time to give you my perspective on this. The Price of Art6 years ago in Personal More Like This
What determines the price of art? What is art worth? Is it really worth anything? Why should people buy art?
First of all, the major point in all of this is that the price of art is completely subjective, meaning that its value is mainly determined by the person viewing it. The second part of the value of artwork is determined by the cost of materials, and the cost of the artists time, as well as how in demand their work is. Then there are different price scales for Fine Artists, Graphic Artists, Illustrators, Freelance Artists, Web Designers, etc. All of these factors add up to the price of artwork.
For my purposes, I will discuss Fine Art and Illustration, which is what I am most familiar with.
With fine art, the
About the Username Change and the Imeji CheinjiI never believed that name change would exist due to many valid reasons, but yet, they made it. Honestly, I've been wanting to change my name since long time. I'm in no ties or any desire with "Pearl" in any way which I named it when I was quite young. Also that name makes me sick sometimes- so a new name change is going to be a great, refreshing start.About the Username Change and the Imeji Cheinji3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, yes I do plan to change name yet my icon will remain not changed to keep people to recognize me. And here I want to write a journal about being really careful, be smart and think twice if we decide to change name: to not cause that kind of trend where "Oh I got bored with that name, lemme change onto another" and making a'la Japan's trend of changes known as imeji cheinji.
Firstly, try to imagine, if there is artist (or active watcher, popular artist, active friend or even troller which you dislike etc.) which you admire is known under Crystallox2* (and you probably will notice how many people also call that person as "Crys"

The lighting and the detail are brilliant. There is no stone unturned with this piece.
sugarpoultry was a new deviant to me a year or so ago and I haven't stopped admiring her work sense. She brings a fresh coat of paint to a new canvas with how she portrays her anthro work. From her snarly werewolves to her anthro costumes she delivers such a great atmosphere and variety to her gallery. She is ready and willing to help and provide what she can for her fellow deviants. Pokemon X and Y - The shiny fishing methodHey guys!Pokemon X and Y - The shiny fishing method1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So, some of you may be wondering why if all sudden everyone is finding shiny fish pokemon but don't tell you how. Well, here you go.
Recently a new way of finding shinies easily and fast was discovered. To be said right from the start, this only works with Pokémon that you can fish for in X and Y.
The method started to circulate yesterday due to the NPC that hands you the Super Rod saying:
"This is just a rumor, but word is that you can catch some rare Pokemon through consecutive fishing!"
It is very likely the rare Pokémon he is talking about are in fact shiny Pokémon. The method below has been discovered and tested by many. I myself have tried it and obtained shiny Relicanth, Dragalge and Poliwhirl with it, two of my friends got shiny Seadras and my boyfriend got shiny Clauncher.
What to do:
- Find a Pokémon with Suction Cups or Sticky Hold for their ability. In gen 6, Octillery and Inkay are easily obtainable Pokémon that can have Suction Cups. Gulpin and Tru
Is possible to travel?...and perhaps I thought it wasn't possible. Is possible to travel?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
On this journal I'd like to clarify a few things about travels and the truth with it.
So, let's start from very basic questions or comments from people which I get very often on dA: you are so lucky to be able to afford traveling!, I so wish I were as lucky as you being able to travel or How you can afford? You must have decent finances and the time!
Didn't you happen to think like that? If you did, so that is just a stereotype.
On almost every question or their comment where I explain what it is really and how it's working - it is a big opposite side of mirror what they think. After hearing they get usually shocked, but more in positive way.
Here we go.
Firstly, there is a big difference being a traveler and a tourist.
Secondy, there is a huge difference to travel via third party (travel agencies, school trips, going for trips with a friend, family, organizations, etc.) and lonely, self organized travels. And where you

Hi! I'm freelance artist, illustrator and fantasy conceptual designer. And a ghost wanna be.
Originally I don't have a standard pricing rate anymore, since I do work for every different client and their needs since I work more on commercial art for publisher, but here I made approximately how much I charge for my service since I've been asked many times.
The first section is as a part of my full time working artist, the second section is with a thought of small commissions for fans :]
-The prices posted are only approximate and examples just for orientation.
-The bigger format, the more details, possibilities and effort is being put. The prices there are basic charge.
-Prices are also negotiable.
-I accept all kind of currencies, thus the pricing rate may be different for each country's currency market.
-The prices may raise up in some time.

Every year is like a chapter of our lives.
The object of a new year is not a celebration of a new year, nor having a new number displaying in our callendar but it is where we should have a new soul.
To sit down and think over how to improve up our lives.
Also is not a day to cry out loudly how our past year was unsuccessful and impatiently wait when it will be over, start a new, but to learn who we are and how we can move forward.
I'm not here to wish a good New Year Eve since it's not the only day which will decide how our new year will be like… however what I truly wish you guys lots of joy for every day for this year, as well for next year- regardless what is the day or what's happening. Every day is a miracle and a proof of our existence.
Smile to yourself while looking at your image reflected by mirror and don't be shy to say "I love you" to yourself. And lots of love to all livings forms, animals and nature and less interest to mater
About My FeonixesTo clarify now, these are my little critters (some of these examples are owned by other people)About My Feonixes2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In the past I've sold 'adoptables' of these guys. I created designs and color patterns ect and sold them. I've also done custom Feonixes where people have some freedom on what they want their design to look like.
I am going to be doing what I'm doing so if there are people out there that want one of my critters, they can. But please be respectful of a few guidelines. Feonixes are not 'sparkledogs' or have some chunk of hair on their heads and I'd like it to stay this way.
What does this mean? Feonixes are an open species. This means you can create one, put it in your story, draw it once and never draw it again, ectect. The only thing I ask you to do after you create one is to credit me in some fashion.
Please do not make adoptables, variat
Few words about art-thieves.Hi!Few words about art-thieves.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
My dear watchers, I really appreciate your support when it comes to fight against art-thieves.
But I bet there are also many people whose thoughs can be interpretted like "why is she so hysterical about it?". Some people say, that the fact, that some photo is worth stealing, is a kind of compliment.
Ok, so let me present my point.
At first: why am I so unhappy about reposting of photos?
Because, pals, if somebody just reposts a photo without any change, it just gives totally open space to other people who would find the photos on his/her blog, taking it and posting it themselves. And because the first person did not credit the original author, they also do not credit the creator. The more people do that, the more times the photo is reposted. Always without credit. Sooner or later, it becomes a kind of "public" property and original author has almost no chance to effect this situation.
Do you know this photo? Honestly, EVERYBODY knows it. But do you know original author? Do you

And this IS watercolor painting. 100% watercolor. Kthnxbye.
I've been a lot in traditional art society, and just... I spotted this artwork. No, at the first it was a photograph for me. For really long time I wasn't interested to take a look deeper at that common photograph until I got bothered by loads of people to take a peek on it.
That really knocked me out from chair, is not the fact it's 100% painting but it's watercolor. I've seen 100% photo looking a like acrylics, oils and really mixed medium ways of paintings but... watercolor alone? And that's from simple watercolor "squares" palette.
I'm not really fan of photo-realistic paintings, I do love real life paintings with very artistic touch and with it's own original style... but for this one I have lots of "wow" for this artist to master watercolor on insane level of skill by using simple techni

This absolutely hillarious video has been "infecting" the web for some time now (and I wanted to feature it sooner, but oh well, life and such). The first time I saw it, I was laughing so hard, because many of these things, I actually do in manips - sometimes not this quickly, but I do. And it is done daily for just about any magazine cover or vip photo shoot that you get to see! This is the true part about this video. And it's the sad part, too.
Uncover the fake Beauty
As a photomanipulator, I am often amazed at what other non-photoshop (or any other graphics programme) users will accept as real without question. Especially younger ones will be influenced by this image they see day in day out and aspire to be like it. To be as fake and "perfect" as the cover girl. How can you achieve anything like that in real life? You can't. It's that simple.
All that is left is Photoshop - the real one. You don't need a fancy plug-in to make all th
Your Point Commissions are Worth More Than That.I see this a lot. I'm not even talking about the few super-crazy-talented digital artists with the ability to sit down with a tablet and Photoshop for 12 hours and create something that looks like it belongs in a museum.
I'm talking about deviants who posses the undervalued talent of drawing "pretty darn well". I'm talking about virtually every drawing-artist on dA that I've ever seen. Your people look like people. Your animals look like animals. You actually used decent shading. Your colors look nice together. You joined dA for a good reason!
Super popular? Very few people are. Way better than I could do? For sure! I focus on jewelry making. I can sketch and shade simple inanimate objects, and I have a pretty good eye for color theory. That's about it. If it moves or breathes, I'm hopeless at
The importance of observation.Hello everyone,The importance of observation.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I would like to press this in a blog entry, because I'm starting to repeat myself in my critiques for the Studies & Practices section.
You can't learn anything new from what's already in your head.
If you don't actually study something, you can hardly call the result a study. I feel as though the skill of observation is being underrated, which is surprising, because I'm not exaggerating when I say that over half of any artist's skill is due to their ability to observe, if not more. Therefor, if you do not train your observation skills and practice purely your drawing ability, you really won't make much progress.
So for any Serious Artist who would like to improve fast: whenever you draw something, find references first. Either in real life (which would really be best) or from the internet, make sure that you have examples ready and that you study what is necessary before (and while) you start drawing or painting. Compare what you are doing to your r

Of Getting An Art Major
A heated argument broke out in my house this afternoon.
I live in a rental situation, renting a large room (with my own bathroom and workspace, real nice setup) in a Filipino household. Love my landlord, get along great with the other housemates, but to emphasize the 'Filipino' aspect of the living situation, there's a lot of family taking residence here. And with family, with teenage offspring, with high standards and expectations from the older immigrant generation speaking upon the younger American-born kin, tension is inevitable.
The daughter of one of the housemates is loo

PROTECT-IP is a bill that has been introduced in the US Senate and the House and is moving quickly through Congress. It gives the government and corporations the ability to censor the net, in the name of protecting "creativity". The law would let the government or corporations censor entire sites-- they just have to convince a judge that the site is "dedicated to copyright infringement."
The US government has already wrongly shut down sites without any recourse to the site owner. Under this bill, sharing a video with anything copyrighted in it, or what sites like Youtube and Twitter do, would be conside
Animals (photogallery)Animals were always important for me- especially having physical contact with them. Not because of art. No one told me or persuaded to like them. It was even before I started drawing them and creating imaginary creatures. I'll say, I don't really remember the moment when I started liking animals- I feel like I liked them before I gained my own consciousness. Which is strange, none of my parents had special liking to them, nor we had any animals. My passionate love to animals was written in the stars that no one can erase or manipulate with my feelings toward our little brothers...Animals (photogallery)2 years ago in Personal More Like This

As an observer and a critic, you're entitled to think that something isn't very good. However, exclaiming as such on the comments of a piece of work that an artist has spent time and energy creating is not only counter-productive, but rude and insulting, especially if it's not followed up with some advice about how you think they could make their

The Assumptions of TheftOne of the biggest issues facing creative minds in the age of the internet is that of theftof art, of ideas, of design work, even of code. The Assumptions of Theft3 years ago in Personal More Like This
When we creative types come upon an instance where our work or the work of friends has been repurposed/stolen/ripped, we naturally are upset. We rally our fellow artists to build an army of good against those who would steal that which we painstakingly created from scratch. We send emails, tweets, facebook posts, blog posts, journal posts, and even send snail mail in an attempt to discourage the thieves. We will insult them, threaten them with lawsuits, and make their lives so difficult that they will naturally have no choice but to take down the stolen work.
I have also had my work stolen in many ways. Logos I have created have appeared on websites where the thieves are attempting to actually re-sell the work, artwork I've made has appeared on other websites as both decoration and downloadable/purchasable products, and in one instance some of
