Beautiful PeopleWhat of the manBeautiful People3 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
who stands before you,
Having tragically lost his wife
on the backend of life,
now sits in front of his television set;
harboring thoughts of his children,
before they grew up
and moved on.
Is this man's suffering
than the one with empty hands
who has never known such things?
Though it seems to me
the latter of the two,
couldn't possibly know
what he's missing.
And what of the single mother
down on her luck for a lifetime;
now standing in front of the podium,
daughter clad in the cloths of achievement.
Does her new found pride
outweigh the hardships she's faced?
I doubt it,
but we take all we can get.
These are the people,
the truly beautiful people
who know what it means to fight
and do without.
For they can truly appreciate life,
with words like;
the world is hopeless
but I love it anyway.
I've LearnedGrowing up hardI've Learned4 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
I've learned a few things
Sometimes the best times
Can be found
In the worst places
And the worst times
Can be found anyway
Even our best intentions
Can often yield
The worst results
And they'll hate you for it
Just the same
Can cost more than it's worth
When surrounded by those
Who have nothing
When you're staring it in the face
Because it's not the same
When you see it coming
That courage can take form
In the most unlikely individuals
Can overcome us all
Of the line that exists
Between a victim of the environment
And a contributor of it
Because once crossed
Many never find their way back
In the end
When all the chips are on the table
You'll be lucky
To have three dimes watching your back
Because in the end
It's usually us against the world
So go easy friends
Because you never know
What's around the next corner

The last beat of a heart
My heart, her heart
The whole world has a heart
Thrumming to the rhythm of the end
Time is the essence
And their heart is mine
You lovers, bleed
Designed to torment, hurt, and lie
It's the last hour
The last moment
The last beat
And I'm running out of time
The last dream of a night
Sweet night, black night
The whole world in the night
Ripping out the stars in a maddened dance
Fear is the wonder
And I fear the night
You devils, scream
Dance on my nightmare, strange and bright
It's the last hour
The last moment
The last dream
And I'm running out of time
The last voice to be heard
Soft voice, strong voice
I cannot hear my own voice
Frozen, but the cold is a thrilling song
Life leads to death
And death is my bride
You mortals, bleed
Scream in your morbid fancies of life
It's the last hour
The last moment
The last breath
And I'm running out of time

To count on no one

This served me well
Even after jail
And the few times
I went back

Maybe we'll exist beyond tomorrow.
I don't concern myself
with such things.
I exist purely for the moment
as it beckons me to see:
locked doors and fantasies,
searching for extremes.
Discovering limits to push beyond,
fulfilling the wildest of dreams.
With no laws from governed society,
no barbed wire to get in the way,
no keep out signs or rules to abide by,
just instinct and a will to play.
So follow me over the edge,
let us thrash and wreck the way.
All I ask in return:
a pleasant distraction to ease the pain;
something to cloud my thoughts and mind.
Let me escape the day to day.

Henry was the first one up the next morning, despite being the last one to bed. By the time Ryeowook came shuffling out of his room, the younger one was eating pancakes drowned in syrup while watching some morning cartoons.
"Morning, hyung!" he greeted his roommate.
"Did you make coffee?" the latter moaned, standing the middle of the kitchen/dining/living room.
"No, but I made some tea."
"Mm-mm, I need coffee," came the groaned reply, as he shuffled over to one of the two cabinets in the tiny kitchen area. There was some clattering before Ryeowook found the plastic container of instant coffee, and Henry realized that he hadn't even fully opened his eyes yet.
"Hyung you okay?"
"Just really sleepy," Ryeowook yawned out as he blindly poured some hot water over the spoonful of grounds in his purple mug. He stirred it for a few seconds with some sugar before he gulped at it, making a face at how bitter it still was.
"It's only Sunday, you can still sleep if you want," Henry r

The deeping twilight silence heard
In the whispers of a half dreamed word,
With new moon in a dreamless sleep
And sun, nostalgic vigil keeps.
The black-red light, a pulsing flood.
The ocean sky, from her virgin blood
That drains a living death, is born-
From the edge of time are softly called,
Two women walking, their sacred feet
On either side of the horizon meet.
One stares with eyes of burnished gold
And round her shapely figure holds
A robe of molten, blinding light,
Her face, in which, is hid from sight.
Each footstep burns an eternal road,
A tuneless song around her flows.
The growing things she once did mind
Have quickly withered, slowly died.
The other weeps from cloudy eyes,
A world of pain in each tear she cries.
Buried in a grey-mist gown,
Her face of steel, once more cast down.
Each footstep is a sodden march,
Her moaning wind is drifting past.
She regards her charges with a shifting frown,
All living things, she slowly drowns.
In the world upon the line,

As we split into pairs
I fall in despair
when I see that I'm alone
The children go out
scream and shout
as i sit in the corner and moan
I hold my knees
and beg and plead
for a pair to call my own
But sadly for me
no one can see
the loneliness, I have not shown
They laugh and play
and swing very gay
and take a look at me
Then they frown and sigh
then shift their eyes
and pretend they cannot see
For who would put up
and even think up
kindly choosing me
Over their wonderful pair
with whom they share
everything they posses
Like books and marks
Hats and scarves
and even their Sunday dress
So i hold my knees tighter
and play a happy fighter
to go through the week
i think and say
would anyone choose me?

And every beat of our hearts confirm
That hurt is made of a soul's tear
But it also shows the way to return
Is this lonely way a real life vision
When you just mean so much
To me and my way and every decision
Awaiting your smile, awaiting your touch
Imagine a world without you
Would mean imagine no sun
If so there is no life for me too
I would rather be shooted by a gun
So lets hold hands and stand still

Her fingers don't trail across the spine of her Bible the way that they used to. After the wedding, it was the most amazing year long honeymoon until Sonya's father passed away. No, they hadn't been close, but somehow it rocked her boat so horribly that even her comfort zone was uncomfortable to remain in. Arms wrapped around herself; she hid within a darkened corner and rocked herself back and forth until she calmed down only to stand up in a rage and scream until her lungs gave out.
Anger. Fury. Rage. Blind, unsettling rage. It rocked her boat yet more furiously and, yes, her eyes were on the storm. Not just the storm that He'd allowed, but at the storm she was creating by looking away. The storm she allowed to swell by not focusing and taking back her all for herself. Her rage slammed several holes into her

There once was a girl
Who was all alone
She used to be happy
Until taken out of
Her comfort zone
She built up walls
They were so tall,
They could reach the sky
She didn't want
To hear the world
And all of its lies
Every day was the same
Tears in the morning and
Tears at night
What was there for her
Besides unhappiness and spite?
She hated the world
She hated herself
She hated everything alive
She just wanted the
Pain to stop, she
Just wanted to die
What future did she have
Nothing but tears and sorrow
Every day would be the same
Because every day was tomorrow
But in her heart
There is still a little
Drop of hope
She wants to be rescued one day
She doesn't want to be alone....

The Stepmother's TaleI found a man in my garden bed,The Stepmother's Tale4 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
Picking herbs for his wife, he said,
For she was hungry and heavy with child.
"For greens, your daughter is mine," I smiled.
So after the birth, I took her away
To a tall, doorless tower where she would stay.
I was her mother, she my one care--
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your fair hair!"
But then a prince came and stole her young heart,
So I cut her long locks and let her depart.
I took her tresses for my own
And saw how beautiful I had grown.
Then I wondered: could I, too,
Find a prince so valiant and true?
I married a king, to my delight,
With one daughter named Snow White.
Though his age was quite obscene,
I was his happily cherished queen.
Until -- "Mirror, on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?"
Was my stepdaughter fairer than I?
Jealousy declared that she must die!
I followed her deep into the forest
To where dwarves mined; "Hi ho," they chorused.
Disguised, I fed her an apple so red
That after one bite she was thoroughly dead.

promised that we'd spend our lives together.
Though what you found was another lover.
Our love forgotten, my heart is shattered.
How will I ever live without my love?
You left me and my dying heart tattered.
Heart flies away on the wings of a dove.
Your flowing brown hair and delicate lips,
I'll never forget the love we once had.
The way you held me as I held your hips,
insults me as you leave like a passing fad.
Our love is forgotten and left behind.
True love is what I'll be looking to find.
