As you can see, Wales isn't represented in the Union Flag (Jack). This is due to the fact that Wales was a part of the Kingdom of England at the time of the union of crowns, in 1603. When England (including Wales) and Scotland merged and became the Kingdom of Great Britain in 1707, the first Union Flag was adopted. This flag is known as the "King's Colours" and incorporated the flag of England ("St George's Cross") and the Flag of Scotland ("St Andrew's Cross" or the "Saltire"). There were two versions of the King's Colours which were used in Great Britain, shown above, the latter of which saw limited use in Scotland. In 1801, the Kingdom of Ireland merged with The Kingdom of Great Britain, to form; The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Saint Patrick's Cross, although it wasn't the official flag of Ireland, was used to represent Ireland's place in the union after 1801. In 1922, all but seix counties in the province of Ulster (Northern Ireland) formed the Republic of Ireland, after the Anglo-Irish treaty was signed. Despite this change of territory, the UK didn't change its flag.
---United States of America--- Capitol: Alexandria, Virginia Religion: Southern Baptism (33%) American Evangelism (55%), Atheist Kurzwellianism (12%) Language: Virginian, Vulgar American Population: 5.21 Million (368 LY) Government: Autocracy *President: Zachary Adams IX ----------------------------------- Since the fall of the United States of America, the American Continent has splintered into dozens of new Kingdoms, Empires, Hoods, States, Deserets, Commonwealths and Sheriffdoms; however on the Eastern Seaboard, based around the Potomac, lies the last remnant of the United States of America. Since its establishment by President Theodore Bryan III after the loss of the Middle United States in the 22nd Century, the Washingtonian Empire has progressively fought an endless string of wars all in the effort to try and reassert itself as a major power in the former United States. At its greatest Extent in the 25th Century, the Washingtonians controlled most of the Territory East of the Mississippi, and even had conquered territory in Mexico and South America. However, after countless insurrections, the Empire has since shrunk to a shell of its former self, based in Alexandria and controlling barely beyond the immediate area of the Potomac, with its furthest extent lying in South Jersey.
I noticed a lot of the flags of the so-called "American Empire" posted up just look like variations on the existing flag. I decided to go for something that would stand out a bit more.
I made this to highlight the rampant exceptionalism and eagerness to go to war that most Americans seem to have these days.
I don't know why, but this also gave me the idea for this weird setting. You don't have to associate with this flag or vice versa, but it's just an idea I had for a setting with an American monarchy:
"Following the attacks on the Two Towers in the New York province of the American Empire, King George Bush II, at the behest of his subordinate Viceroy Dick Cheney, declared war on the Kingdom of Persia and issued a royal decree, giving the Royal Guards of the American Empire near-unlimited powers to spy on and arrest citizens on suspicion of them being traitors to the Empire."
Please do not use this without my permission.
UPDATE: I've posted a newer version, at a higher resolution, and it also has none of what I call "pixeljunk", as in the edges are sharper, and none of the blurriness and poor quality.
UPDATE 2 (8/12/14): I have come around, bowed to public opinion, and changed the name so that it is no longer redundant.

With the fall of America came the Chaos Times, an era where human society quickly unraveled, and fell into ignorance, starvation, disease, and war. This was primarily due to the lack of oil that enabled American society, and in no place was the chaos worse than California. A state of 37 million at its peak, once the oil ran out California quickly fell into the worst cases of chaos.
When the water dried up in Los Angels the state quickly fell into infighting over the precious fresh water controlled by the northern half of the state. Thirst and Hunger led to rioting, then starvation, and finally cannibalism. For nearly three centuries, only a handful of communities in California managed to survive, constantly fighting the endless hoards of cannibals, Jaredite Raiders, and Barbarians.
This finally came to an end in BLY 97 when Queen Abila of Fresno led the Great Purge that lasted for nearly thirty years, and wiped out most of the savages from the Valley, and drove the Jaredites back into the Great Basin. Queen Abila claimed the Valley to be under her protection, expanding Fresno's borders, making it the most powerful state in California.
In LY 66 the Kingdom of Fresno and the Hoods of Sacramento and Barbara signed the Treaty of Fernando, uniting the three states as a single confederation, the American Union. In 112 LY, with the establishment of the Angelino Papacy, the American Union took on the name Holy American Union, putting the legitimacy of the elected monarch, the Presimpero (Californian for Imperial President), in the hands of the American Evangelist Church.
Today, the Holy American Union, is one of the continents most powerful nations, and also one of the most Pious. It is presently involved with the Evangelical Quegunta, an effort to purge all of Christiandom of supposed heretics; as well as a long standing conflict with Cascadia, whom they see as a heathen nation.
Recently the Union completed the Seventh Campaign, a bloody religious war against the Mormon Deserets that controlled historic American sites such as the ancient city of Denver and the vaults of Cheyenne Mountain. This campaign ended with the successful, albeit brief, capture of western Colorado, and with it the first opening of Cheyenne Mountain in six centuries before it was closed by the Mountain United States. Inside the ancient military base were exabytes of data, all stored in Carbon based Holographic storage drives; the height of American technology before the fall. Roughly 60% of these drives were deemed unrecoverable by the scholars, however, those that did work, revealed invaluable quantities of lost knowledge from the ancient Americans.
The flag of the People's Republic of Great Britain, from 1998 til 2043. It followed the flag used by the British Communist Congress, seen here: [link] , and was succeeded by the Flag of the Union, upon the dissolution of the PRGB and the creation of the Progressive Union.
My idea for a North American Union flag Note: This flag is based jointly on the US and Confederate (stars and bars) flags and was for the North American Union which contains the USA (Including Canada) and the CSA. It's a part of this fan fiction thing I'm working on.
2013: Sarah Palin is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, she enters office with a Tea Party led Republican Congress and rides on a wave of support following the Los Angeles Massacre. Shortly upon entering office President Palin signs the State Border Act, allowing for States to be divided upon a majority vote by the state legislatures. A number of states break up upon its signing.
2014: Senator Frank Lautenberg dies of a stroke breaking the Democrat filibuster of the American Health Care Act. The bill abolishes the Obama era legislation and removes many constraints on private companies. With a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate ultra-conservative legislation passes with little effort.
2015: Millions march on Washington to protest the Palin administration and the Tea Party led Congress after the Patriot Act is amended to allow the President to deploy troops on US Soil. The protesters are beaten back by the National Guard, now federalized and administered by the Department of Homeland Security.
2016: A number of Presidential Candidates are disqualified from running by Palin appointed Federal Judges. With little competition and thanks to the addition of more conservative states to the union, President Palin and the Tea Party win an easy victory in the elections.
2017: Seattle, New York, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, and a number of other cities are in open rebellion after President Palin is sworn in for a Second Term. President Palin sends US Forces into California after the state's Tea Party backed governor is elected.
2018: The US Congress ratifies the 28th Amendment, which gives the government more power to limit freedom of expression. The Faith and Flag Act is passed shortly afterwords, stating that Christianity is the official religion of the United States and banning the destruction of American Flag after it is changed to include the new states and a Cross.
------- What a fascist regime would do the American flag... if they had as little imagination as me apparently.
