Does Anybody Hear Her? part 2One kid said, "Don't mess with her man what's your name? You're new here right the new military kid they were talking about? Anyway, don't mess with her. It won't do you any good, OK? She's bad news man." he leaned a little closer, as if he had a secret to tell me. "She's a witch, I tell you." he made a cutting motion across his throat. "If you get her mad, she can get rid of you, just like that. Seriously man, I mean it. Last year, a guy you know and then he totally took her down and he ended up sick and almost dead. It was her. He was the only guy that she really loved, and he hurt her, and she's never been the same. Of course, since then no one has double crossed her." he leaned back away from me, "It's said that she used to be like you and me. You know? Normal, good girl, with good grades. She still has good grades, t he best, but she's bad now. You know never sleeps alone, does drugs. It's been said she's had at least two abortions. At LEAST. I could hear them talking about me and her. The whispers were flying everywhere. The new kid....He's moving in on JJ.....they say they're going to a concert.....yeah I just bet it's a concert.....she doesn't know where they're going....he just told her that it's a concert...she's just saying that she doesn't know....she knows...she'd rather have him then her boyfriend now.....she broke up....going with the new kid...doesn't he know he's chopped liver?....she's going to throw him away like she's thrown everyone else away.....who does he think he is?....
I did my best to ignore the whispers.
On Wednesday as I was leaving the school in the afternoon, I heard some quiet sobbing next to the stone stairs that led into the school. When I looked down at first I didn't see anyone, but then I looked further into a corner and saw Janayla.
She had her back to me, and she was hunched over, as if she was hurting. She turned halfway when she heard my

Saturday seemed to take forever to get here. Each day passed slowly, and every morning, I counted down the hours, because I was hoping I could help Janayla with this concert. I didn't know what would happen if it didn't reach her. I would move, and she would go back to being everyone's toy.
Saturday itself seemed to be taking its time on purpose. I would look at the clock after what would have seemed like an eternity, and only a few seconds would have passed. My parents asked what was up, and I told them. Together, we prayed for her, lifting her up, asking God to open her eyes, and set her soul free from the chains that held her.
When Saturday night finally came, I stopped by the school at six and waited for her. I almost thought that I would be stood up, but at the last minute, she showed. Silently, she crawled into the cab of my truck, and just as silently, I handed her the ticket.
She studied it. "Casting Crowns? Kutless? Who ar

She snorted a short laugh. "Am I supposed to believe you?"
"Have I touched you wrong yet? Forced you to do anything? Acted that way?"
Her silence answered my question.
Soon, we found the concert building, and I quickly found parking. It didn't take much and I declined the money that she offered. I told her that it was on me. Everything was. Because what is the use of telling someone that they are guest, but then make them pay for everything?
She shrugged and shoved the money back into her pocket.
The building was crowded and after we had gone through the turnstile, I realized that she might lose me in the bustle. I opened my hand behind me, inviting her to hold unto it, and not get lost. To my surprise, she put her hand into mine, and held on as we wound our way through all the strangers that were eager to see what we were eager to see.
She told me t hat she needed to go to the bathroo

I closed my locker, and glanced around at the kids in the hallway. I heard their whispers as they stared after her.
Words of hate and cold.
It was my first day at this school. I was a military brat, and I had moved. Again. So I was just settling in and getting to know who was who. I knew who the popular kids were, and who weren't. I wasn't, that much I knew, and I never would be.
I gazed after her, and tried to see why they were calling her what they were. She had black clothes on. All black. No exception. Her t-shirt was tight around her, drawing out everything in her body, drawing all the boy's attention to her. Her pants hugged low on her hips, showing the half of a tattoo. I couldn't make out what it was, and maybe I didn't want to. Someone called her name, and she half turned, and for a split second, I saw a look of hope on her face, but then it was sealed over with a cold look that said she didn't care, and it only got colder when she realized the
Does Anybody Hear Her? part 7For the rest of the concert she lay her head on my chest. Her breathing deepened and thought that maybe she had gone to sleep (how could she I wondered, with the light show?) until Casting Crowns started to sing one of their hit songs. At first I thought that I had been hearing things, but then more clearly, I heard her say, "You heard me."Does Anybody Hear Her? part 74 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
For a moment I had no idea what she was talking about, but then she sat up and said, "The song. Does anybody hear her? You heard me. How did you hear me? No one else did."
"Maybe I was listening. Or maybe they couldn't hear you over their own cries for help."
She nodded, and leaned on me again. "Thank you," she whispered.
After the concert, we learned that during the concert the names of the ticket holders had been drawn, and Jalayla had won backstage passes one for herself and whoever she wanted to go back with her. Trembling with excitement, I went backstage with her.
She walked right up to Jon-Micah and pulled her wrist bands off, and had
HHaW: Somewhere In The MiddleNight has fallen on the sleepy town of WhoVille. Every house and street was quiet, without a stir, a sound, or a sign of disturbed slumber. Listen closely, and all that could be heard was the solitude of the whispering winds gently creeping through the streets of town carrying the occasional quiet sound of clanking metal from one small room in the McDod household.HHaW: Somewhere In The Middle6 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
With distractions safely tucked in bed, the little who Jojo slinked out from under his black bed sheets and crawled under his bed. One by one, Jojo pulled out pieces of metal rations that he picked out of trashcans and dumpsters throughout WhoVille for the past few days. Jojo picked up the pile of scrap in his hand and began to walk towards his bedroom door. He paused, his brow wrinkled as his eyes reacted to a chaos of thoughts billowing throughout his mind for years. They seemed to keep building and building and then
