Legend of the Knight Fury
'This is Berk. It snows nine months out of the year, and hails the other three. What little food grows here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow here, even more so. The only upsides are the pets. While other places have ponies, or parrots...we have dragons.
Of course, it wasn't always like this. My name is Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. Nice name, I know. But that wasn't the worse part.
About two years back..I was considered the worst Viking to ever be born into the Hairy Hooligans Tribe. I was small, weak and clumsy. I couldn't swing an axe, I couldn't lift a sword...and, most important (or at least when this used to be important back then), I couldn't kill a Dragon. I tried my best though! Even though...every time I tried my best,

The rays of light from the sun rise washed over Berk as the Vikings were repairing the damage done by the previous attack that early morning. There were houses that needed rebuilding, things that needed repair and wounds that needed healing. This had become a normal thing for the past two years, ever since the Outcast decided they didn't want the Hooligans around anymore. Seems while some people took quickly to the idea of Dragon beings friends, some die hard Vikings, like the Outcast's, wanting nothing more than to splatter all their blood on the ground.
A group of Viking passed by Stoick and Gobber, hauling wood and tools with them to repair the damage to the houses. Looking around, you could even see their dragons helping their Viking fix their home by doing things like hauling twice the amount of wood one man could carry, removing hold burnt and broken wood and even holding up pails of nails and tools for them to get to easily.

It was over. The war was over. Everyone could hardly believe it. Generations of Vikings killing dragons in fierce, epic battles and all it took was one boy-- one curious, out-of-the-box mind-set boy-- to put an end to it all in the most unlikely of ways.
He trained a Dragon. Not just any dragon; the PRINCE of all Dragons, a Night Fury. With that Night Fury, they defeated the Red Death. A horrible dragon--no--a horrible demon that enslaved all the other dragons to slate her endless hunger lest they be eaten themselves. The defeat would be told to future generations, becoming a legendary battle. But every battle and every war had a price that must be paid. And Hiccup was no exception..
I wish I could've done more to help him. Because I saw this coming...
Years ago, I helped give birth to him as I do with all of the new borns in our clan. I see things. Nothing of the mortal world but of the next, the in between and what's to come...

The great hall was alit with laughter and joyous cheers as the whole village was celebrating Valhallarama's return! The meat that Hiccup and Astrid had hunted was used to feed the happy vikings along with the mugs of mead and lagers that were being passed around! Food may have been in short supply, but not short enough not to have a little party for her safe return to Berk. Peoples were laughing, joking and giving Stoick their well wishes in the return of his wife. And to Hiccup as well!
The whole party, Hiccup was glued to his mother, a huge grin on his face at all times. Stoick couldn't remember the last time Hiccup had such a big smile on his face! And he could say the same about himself. It was so good to have such a happy moment in these times of strife and war.
Finally, Valhallarama was able to tell people of her story, sitting down as a few Vikings men came back with the crates she had on her ship.
Valhallarama has always been known to be t

"Welcome to Dragon Training!!"
The sound of metal slamming against stone echoed through the carved atrium that sat upon the elevated cliff at the edge of the Berk Island. The ground slightly damp from last night rain, it let off a damp yet soothing smell as several younger Vikings walked into the circular alcove.
The Kill Ring...or rather, what was formally known as The Kill Ring, was where Snotlout's "Dragon Basics" class had met for their first lesson. There were seven of them, all of them them between the ages of 13 and 15. All of them took their time to walk to the center of the arena, looking at the changed ring. What used to be a place to practice the art of killing dragons in the best way possible, was now a place to learn how to bond with them and to learn a dragons ways. The reinforced doors and locks had long been removed, as had the chain netting that used to cover the top, giving the whole area an open air feel, instead of looking l

"Alright, we'll arrive there in just a few moments, everyone get set to disembark!!" A booming voice called out for all the adjacent boats to hear. Flexing the muscles in his shoulders, he lumbered his way from the aft to the front most starboard bow of the boat. It was mid day, so the sun was high and the winds were blowing directly north, making their approach toward the large Island of Berk go smoothly.
The man was huge, like most vikings, and broad with a short but coarse, black beard growing from his face. His main clothing consisted of leather and thick wools. He wore a brown leather tunic with chain mail under neat, the tunic itself reaching just above his knees. On his legs were dark brown leggings, on his feet dark brown moccasin fur boots. Around his waist, a thick, silver studded leather belt with a large iron belt buckle. To shield his shoulders from the cold was thick dark brown wool cloak that was held together at the front by another large iron cla

A grunt sounded from Hiccup's mouth as he pulled a large basket of meat onto his back. After their mid-day lunch, he, Astrid and Toothless decided to get some more hunting done to add to the village rations. Hiccup wore one basket on his back while Astrid took another on hers. There were two more basket with hand weaved over the top for Toothless to hold onto. A frigid breeze wafted over the island of Berk as the moon rose to it's highest peak in the sky. The stars covered the black veil, giving a bit more light to the blanket of darkness along side the moon. The Vikings of Berk, all safe in their homes, resting up from the previous battle that day.
Thankfully, it wasn't as serious as the others were. This time, only a few men had been injured and just one home destroyed; and rebuilt the same day thanks to the efforts of the village. Still, even if the battle was short, everyone was happy to get some sleep that night.
On the outskirts of the island, small orange glows of light could be seen. The fires of torches, held by night patrols riding their dragons, patrolling for more enemy attacks. Adding to that, more of the patrols were walking about the village. They all inspected the village, the dark side paths and the roofs of the homes. But even with their torches to light their way, they would not be a

The air itself had frosted since the passing of Solstice Eve. The trees turned white in their rime casings and greeting words pillowed in visibility between passing Vikings. The thickest of mitts and boots and cloaks were donned in light of the changing weather. Still, the sting inside his throat and the numbness of his nose could never keep Hiccup from the skies for long.
It only shortened his flight time.
Breathless and sated from their morning flight, dragon and rider scanned the village for a subtle landing area. They clung to Berk's outskirts, keeping low, skirting the forests and ducking around tall structures all in the name of evading detection. The steady beat of hammers billowed from the village like smoke as repairs for the Hidden Egg Debacle continued. In fact, if you asked the viking what he loved more than being up here in the sky, he'd have a hard time naming something. His whole life he'd been grounded in a place that he didn't really belong to, a place he didn't like to be. Now that he had the option to fly, fly away, he could think of nothing better. He could go as far as he wanted, for as long as he wanted. Once, he and Toothless had disappeared from Berk for three days, camping on a small island to the south. He hadn't planned it, they'd just done it. Left with no warning and came back when they'd felt like it.
He'd gotten quite the scolding from his father and girlfriend, but it had been worth it. For the first time in his life he felt truly free, and it was more than he ever could've asked for.
Another reason he loved flying so much was because of his prosthetic leg. Months after the incident, he was pretty much used to the fake limb now, but he'd grown a bit of a disliking for walking. It still ached,

There was no way he was getting up now. The sun hadn't even risen over the whale's road yet! And anyway, Astrid would not dare to enter his bedroom without his permission...would she?
No, Hiccup decided instantly as he got back to sleep, although imagining the contrary made a cold shiver run down his spine. No, she wouldn't. Toothless, on the other hand, was pretty sure Astrid was perfectly capable of rushing into his human's bedroom and drag him outside if she deemed it necessary. Which, judging by the way he could hear her storming up the stairs, she did. The Night Fury reluctantly got up and tried to nudge his rider awake before disaster struck, to no avail. Hiccup would not budge, and Astrid was getting closer.

Summary: Three years after the events of the movie, Astrid makes a choice.
Astrid had been out of sorts lately.
She wasn't sure why. Nothing had really changed. Hiccup was still Hiccup, kind, intelligent, and awkwardly self-confident. Ruffnut was still vain, crazy, and wild. And the guys still teetered the line between being amusing and being annoying. The only thing that seemed to have changed was Astrid. It was confusing, and frustrating, and the only thing she knew was that she had to do something about it.
Of course Hiccup could tell. He bore the brunt of her bad moods, obviously. And he wanted to talk about it, had been trying to get her to increasingly often over the past few weeks. The young Viking had been stuck within the heat of the forge since before the first beams of the sun could rise over the sea and the chances he would get out before it was setting again were, well, inexistent. Stoick and Gobber had left Berk together with a dozen of men in order to negotiate a trade treaty with the nearby if two hundred miles away could be considered as such- island of Crom, and Hiccup had been happy at first at the prospect of having more free time on his hands to spend with Toothless, Astrid, and the rest of his friends. It had been two years since she had first touched the clouds, yet the sensation still managed to give her the chills. She was now seventeen, and Astrid still had a hard time believing that she was living out her last year of youth. Being on the cusp of adulthood had caused her thoughts to dwell heavily on her future: She would need a job. Not just a simple chore with little satisfaction involved, a career. Two years earlier, the soldier within her would have made the choice much easier. Astrid knew she wanted to fight, but whether on foot with her axe or in the air upon a dragon was a much tougher choice. Either way, she was going to earn a living for herself- by herself. There was no way she would give up her independence and rely on a husband for income.

"So?" She shrugged. "Who really can, anyway?"
Fishlegs pointed a finger behind her, where the bride and groom were dancing.
You'd think with Hiccup's metal prosthetic, it'd have been quite awkward; but just by looking at them, you'd swear they were dancing on clouds, instead of clunky wooden planks.

Berk was sometimes referred to as the ice-cube of the north. Rain, snow, and hail seemed to constantly fall there. There was a short period of time between the spring when it rained constantly and the winter when the very seas froze that was actually inhabitable. However, that season had passed, much to the great disappointment of every inhabitant of Berk. The air was now icy, and if anyone tried to fly on a dragon with less than four layers of heavy clothing on, they would be frozen solid.
It was during one of these frigid days of winter that Hiccup was sitting beside the heating coals in the forge using the dim glow of a nearly extinguished candle to inspect his handiwork on a snowshoe attachment for his prosthesis. Having reached far away from his sight, Astrid stopped in her track to catch a breather, resting her hands on her knees while swallowing everything that had happened within the past hour. The reason behind Hiccup's sudden and unrealistic success during dragon training was that he had hid and tamed his own dragon! A dragon unlike anyone she had ever seen before, filled with personality and obvious acceptance towards humans in return for Hiccup's familiarity towards it. The minute she'd met the dragons' eyes when it snuggled up to Hiccup as it was the most natural thing it had all become clear to her. When the cold began to set in, that means the Outcasts wouldn’t be able to sail for an attack until it thawed, so that was good. However, the bad was that they were still having problems with their food situation. He didn’t know WHAT was going on with the Meathead chief, Mogadon. How could he just show up here and wait and decide while their brothers of Berk were struggling. It just didn’t make any sense to him. It was a peaceful morning in the small village of Berk. Well, as peaceful as a Viking village can be. Sure, there was the stray axe thrown here, and the occasional dragon shooting flame there, but overall, the streets were quiet, the air calm.
