Not an original scene to say the least. There were high hopes for this sunrise but the sun only broke through the eastern clouds enough for this brief gap lighting on the massive sandstone peaks of the Court of the Patriarchs. For this composition, I walked across a few large trees that had been felled and deposited hanging over the river during this spring's flooding of the valley floor.
This photograph shows the Mont Blanc Massif in the last glow of the setting sun and the impressive Auigelle Verte right in the middle of the picture. The appearing pattern of meltwater streams that drain into lakes on the valley floor is the result of fresh snowfalls over the past few days.
