"Twist of Fate" - chapter 1Chapter 1"Twist of Fate" - chapter 19 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
The sun had already set on the planet of Imeria. Stars were slowly appearing one after another and giving the sky the almost magical clear appearance which was typical for this time of year. No cloud was to be seen anywhere and the light of the moon-shaped spaceport of Crescentia shone softly on the Interstellar Academy. Behind the windows you could see the students dancing, could hear their happy chatter and their cheerful laughter. The huge hall had been decorated with silken banners and exotic kinds of flowers. A huge golden sphere was hanging down from the ceiling, its countless facets glittering like thousands of diamonds and projecting what seemed like an enormous star-field onto the dancefloor. Everybody was spruced up and wearing very solemn clothes. The men their academy uniform, which consisted of navy blue jackets and pants, rimmed with golden hems, a black shirt and dark boots, while the women each wore another beautiful dress that seemed to have been boug

Oh, I wonder if you are
He who called with steady voice
Offering me one simple choice
Shall I stay or better leave?
Contemplatively I breathe
Now to bed I close my eyes
Think of you across the skies
I forgive you, now you know
My chosen path is that I go
One breath. Two breath. Three breath. Four
Eternal sleep, forevermore
Twinkle twinkle trusted friend
Take me there, to where it ends
Shining down your soft, white light
It calms me now and dulls my fright
Down below in bed I lie
With comforted heart I say goodbye

I'm looking at the sky....and I wonder if you're there
I'm tired..lost..completely broken...and I wonder if you care
I'll admit....I've always doubted if you're real
But I'm here praying to the heavens....you can take away the pain I feel
But..its not just me..I see suffering everywhere
People who just dream of dying..who wish that you'd be there
And these people are so nice...they're like Angels from the earth
But everyday they hurt so much..they wish their parents had never given birth
See God, that I just can't understand
Where are you when all these people need a helping hand
Everywhere.I see..just the good people getting hurt
Everyday asking for a grave...for their hearts are already buried in the dirt
And the people filled with greed....why do they succeed
When all these angels hurt themselves...watching themselves bleed
I'll be here....everyday.. praying to you, God
Hoping that you'll help the angels...from being buried in the sod
And even though I'm not an angel..I hop

Slipping Into InsanityThere is no darkness inside the lightSlipping Into Insanity2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
No frantic ramblings of twisted fright
No bleeding wrists of barbs held tight
No screaming fangs prepared to bite
No demons gathering in dark delight
To torment you every day and night
Such bliss in these flames alight
Until insanity snuffs out your sight
Dance the dance within the day
No letting nightmares have their way
Refusing to look beyond today
Closing your eyes in hopes to stay
To dance within the light's bright ray
Feeling the cold being held at bay
Ignoring the winds that tear and fray
Until insanity comes into play
So much for light and smiles dear
Happiness forever lost inside the fear
Within this cold no friends come near
You are very much alone without a cure
No gentle voices will you now hear
No arms to hold and sunlight cheer
Just the welcoming demon's sneer
No denying insanity is right here

"In a way, we just call it something else."
"Do you get to stay up late on Shabbat?"

"Do you have to read the Torah?"
"Yup, it just has a different name."
"Do you pray before bed?"
"But you get Christmas right?"
"But I get Chanukah!"

Weaving snakes over the river bend
The willow weeps in snaps and cracks
Beneath which the wolves run in packs
Paw prints vanish beneath the snow
As the howling wind continues to blow
Under the full moon's bright savage glare
Nothing but white is seen everywhere
A black shadowed wolf raises his regal head
And sings to the pack that he has led
This mournful howl blends with the night
Under the blizzard's scream of pure delight

D.I. - Deception ExtractHemsworth was dark, far darker that she remembered. The once bright, starry sky was lost behind a sea of thick grey clouds, which grumbled and growled like the rumbling stomachs of a hungry child. A few hours before hand, the skies had been clear, only slightly dappled with wisps of fluffy white cirrus clouds, leaving the sun free to glimmer and shine down upon the Earth. But now, the sun had gone; seemingly dragged down, as it was every day, below ground. And it had not been replaced by a moon, for tonight a new moon had been born.D.I. - Deception Extract6 years ago in Fantasy More Like This
It was not only the lack of natural light that made the little village of Hemsworth appear almost pitch, though, because, for some odd reason, all the street lamps were out. Each bulb could not possibly have died out, because that would have been absurd. And no one could have forgotten to turn them on, because in Hemsworth, a timer turned on each light at the same moment. So why, Gabriel asked herself, were all the lights out? It was, after all, the middle

You and Alfred, your boyfriend, decided to take a drive to look at Christmas lights tonight. You are shivering and checking your watch when Alfred's battered pick-up truck pulls up. You walk over to the car, open the door and climb in. As the heat of the car embraces you, Alfred takes your hand to help pull you up off the running board and into the passenger seat. His hand is warm and strong.
"Hey ----------", Alfred says as his sky-blue eyes sparkle in the half-light. He leans over and kisses you on the cheek.
"Merry X-mas!" he exclaims.
"It isn't Christmas yet, Alfred," you retort.
"I wish it were Christmas already!" Alfred said with childish excitement.
You laugh and reach over to stroke his wheat-blonde hair.
"Let's go!" he said.
Alfred puts the car in drive and pulls away from the curb. You drive down snow-covered streets and look out at the houses covered with colorful and sparkling lights. The winter darkness is illuminated by their shining beauty. It is breathtaking, and as you

You are in a clearing in the snowy woods of northern Canada. There are tall pine trees all around that are decorated with a mantle of white. You are wearing your warmest clothes, but winters in Canada are bitterly cold. However, you and Matthew are on a mission.
"Is this big enough?" you call over to Matthew.
"Uh... yeah, it's perfect!" Matthew calls back.
You roll the giant orb of snow that is to serve as the base of the snowman over to where Matthew is. Matthew lifts a medium-sized ball of snow; it is clearly very heavy and his face is flushed from the cold as well as the exertion. He breathes heavily and smiles at you.
"Ok!" he exhales.
"And now for the finishing touch," you add the snowman's head with a flourish.
You slide down into the snow next to Matthew as both of you catch your breath.
"My hands are freezing," you say.
Canada smiles gently and takes your mittens off. He holds your hands and puts them in his jacket pocket.
"Better?" he asks
"How about we go inside?" Cana
