NOTE: UN-enlarged view is about 1 inch wider and taller than Drawing

This looked a lot easier than it was. I thought all I had to do was make black everything that was NOT Arnold, but there were many challenges to this one!

(The drawing is smaller than the ENLARGED view but larger than the small view)

I think this is from the movie "THE ALAMO"? That's supposed to be dirt on his face, not shadows :D:D

I've been meaning to draw John Wayne for my father for a long time.

UN-enlarged view is about the size of the actual drawing :D:D

I've had the reference photo of this saved for over a year. I loved the highlights and the challenge with his hair and the "negative space" work required. I'm still too impatient to do it correctly, but this is the best I can do for now.

I know...there are too many drawings of this guy, but I hadn't drawn him since January 2009, when I first started drawing, and I wanted to do a larger piece. This old one below only as a 3 inch face.

OLD DRAWING

The reference photo was actually lacking in some details, so I added some of my own. There was SO much BLACK in this, I basically just blacked out everything that WASN'T Jack :D:D

:wow: I FINALLY finished my largest drawing EVER. Well not largest dimensions, but 3 faces, 3 smiling mouths and LOTS of hair :D:D

This is a PHOTO, not a scan. Too large to scan. I will reload better photos later. It's slightly out of focus, and there is no WAY to see all the tiny details I put into this. Like the hundreds of hair strands I first scratched into the paper.

I was hired by a girl in Texas to draw her (far right) and her 2 sisters as a mothers day gift.

I will upload individual shots later as well :D:D

*** UN-enlarged view is Exact Size as actual drawing ***

Well...it's about time I did a self portrait huh? The photo was taken by my daughter Maggie, when she was shooting me for business cards. Between shots I just made a goofy face :D
It is the same kinda face I made when I was 2 years old, my parents entered me into the "Little Mr. Dallas" Baby contest. I took 2nd place lol. I should post that baby pic of me for grins? On a side note, the lighting in the reference photo makes my right (your left) eye look very dark, and slightly larger?

Going to take a break and hang with my mom and dad for the weekend. Gonna try to make the video where I answer questions for ya'll

FAV song by Stevie: "I Just Called To Say I Love You" [link]

NOTE ABOUT THE DRAWING: As much as I enjoyed drawing all the details in his glasses, I hated drawing his hand. I HATE drawing hands! Also the ref photo was not high resolution (see link) and while I know teeth are NOT suppose to be pure white, the photo made them appear that way. Anyway, I have an 8 out of 10 on the satisfaction scale with this one. CLICK DOWNLOAD for a SUPER CLOSE UP VIEW? :D:D
