FINAL - August Poll Period * CLOSED!:icontransparentplz:FINAL - August Poll Period * CLOSED!3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Hello dear members, watchers and visitors
This is the new way to find our winner of our POLL SYSTEM: instead using a Poll with the ten most voted of the period, we'll be using a blog to showcase the 20 MOST VOTED of this period!
This means, or so I hope, more exposure for your pieces and galleries.
The idea is simple: each work has a number and all deviants have the opportunity to vote like if it was a poll...with the difference that you will choose not one but 3 favourites!
All deviants may vote, INCLUSIVE who is participating; the participants may vote for themselves and ask friends and watchers to vote; this blog may have publicity by all means and be submitted in groups.
The work with most votes wins a 3 months sub, our usual prize.
Follow the RULES to VOTE...AND EVERYONE VOTING and ING THIS BLOG will enter a draw to win 100 . The participants may and should click the Favourite Button too - you have another cha

*Liquin- Used to use mineral spirits, and linseed oil but I found how much linseed oil tends to turn all my colours yellow. Mineral spirits became too watered down many people asked if I painted with watercolours. Liquin and a bit of poppy seed oil makes a perfect mixture. (Almond oil is what I want to try in future)
*Brushes- Round Synthetic mongoose. Flat square brushes was my fav back in the time but no longer.
*Pallet- I buy a painting frame with glass for $8 then I put a white paper under the glass and use that to mix my paints. I used to own a little fridge where I would store my pallet over night (it never dries but your fridge will smell like oil)
*Reference photos- I tape an ipad to my painting and I can zoom in, play music, photoshop and skype while I paint. Best invention ever !
*Paints- I have upgraded to higher more expensive paints thanks to my gift cards (think of it as an

Trust in the Lord our God Yahweh SabaothWhen I came back from work, I felt my heart arrested with fear. But I remembered a friend once told me whenever I feel that way I should say "I surrender my fears to You Jesus..." and you know what...when I said "I surrender it to You Lord Jesus Christ...my God..." the fear faded and I am now filled with calm. Jesus calms the storm within us. Alleluia.Trust in the Lord our God Yahweh Sabaoth6 months ago in Personal More Like This
A few verses came to mind...
"For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken."-Proverbs 3:26
"Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established."-Proverbs 16:3
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."- Proverbs 3:5-6
"A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee."-Psalm 91:7
"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."-Psalm 118:8
I also remembered what a Jesuit brother taught me...whenever I am scared

it's over, thank you for partiipating
Every good feeling deserves an ode, a dedication for how great they make us. This world is an "ocean of souls": we all meet, share our feelings and realize we all are connected in a way. Today I offer you to feel it in your own skin and be rewarded for that.
The main goal is to shake DeviantArt with good vibrations, so let's make it epic!! With all the problems around the world and the media scaring us with terrible words saying we are heading to a global catastrophe, it's time

My deviantART StoryMy deviantART Story7 months ago in Personal More Like This
My story with deviantART begun in October, year 2003. I've had created this account to stalk DraNKa and I didn't plan on putting my drawings here, because I wasn't drawing regulary at that point in time. After seeing all the beautiful artworks gathered here, I've started to draw more frequently. These are some artworks that I've posted in the year 2003-2004.
In my early years I've been mostly drawing characters related to Multiworld Forum (where we used to write stories about our characters). Some of the works related to MW are now in my archive and some of them were deleted.
Over the years I've slowly shifted into drawing characters with close colaboration with niziolek

Sipping tea with your Muse Only by fostering a facility with the vocabulary of your artistic medium of choice, can you begin to really free yourself to be open to being creative with it.Sipping tea with your Muse10 months ago in Personal More Like This
The size of that vocabulary is another matter, and that’s about growth, improvement and development. These are important as well, and intricately linked to creativity, in parallel (more on that in a future article). But first let’s talk simply about the genesis aspect of art.
Remember when you were in high school, doodling in the margins of your notebooks? Ballpoint pen and edges of blue-lined notebooks, with half an ear listening to the lesson of the day? There was a familiarity in that setting, and ease that you moved through when you sketched these throwaway doodles. Every once in a while you’d accidentally make one that you’d really like, and you’d save that scrap of paper with notes on American History melding into the lines of a drawing of your D&D charac
All deviants can now write Critiques Be a giver! All deviants can now write Critiques3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Sometimes you come across a deviation that deserves special attention. It catches your eye in such a way that you're compelled to craft a response that goes above and beyond a normal comment. Or perhaps a fellow deviant is having a tough time with a particular aspect of their work, and you know just what they need to take their art to the next level. As a good Internet citizen and art enthusiast, you want to help them out, but a normal comment doesn't quite suit your purpose.
For these situations and more, we've given everyone the ability to write a Critique.
What is Critique?
DeviantART's Critique system is designed to help artists get in-depth, critical feedback and commentary on their work. Valued feedback through Critique promotes creative growth as an artist and draws special attention to work. Critiques are also a way for committed art enthusiasts, connoisseurs, and fans to publish real criticism,

Heart to Heart Interview: TheSignmakerHello Everyone!Heart to Heart Interview: TheSignmaker7 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Welcome back for the fifth installation of deviantHEART’s Journal series, Heart to Heart! The goal of these feature articles is to learn more about our featured Heartists overall as well as on a personal level.
Today's Heart to Heart Interview will feature TheSignmaker!
Frenk Breuer (TheSignmaker) is a 50 year old traditional artist from the Netherlands. He began drawing when he was a child, but was inspired to pursue art seriously when he saw an interview featuring Rajacenna on Dutch TV. He primarily does pencil drawings, mainly focusing on children and Jesus as his artistic subjects (his celebrity drawings are amazing as well). Frenk attributes his growth as a drawing artist to deviantART because this is where he found a community of people willing to mentor him (and we’re so glad he found us ).
