A few more tense seconds pass as the fighters await the opening bell.
With a loud clang, the fight is on! Jessica and Valerie step out from their respective corners, to meet again in the center of the ring. Jessica decides to start the fight off fairly cautiously, keeping her hands close to her face. Her game plan at this stage is to figure out what Valerie is all about.
“Ok…she’s definitely an infighter,” Jessica thought, ”so she’s probably got me beat in a straight up race. She’s gonna be hard to hit until I slow her down. I know I can outpunch her though. If I stick the jab, I might be able to keep her out. If she gets in…”
Valerie, meanwhile approached Jessica almost casually, arms loose and limber as she stepped confidently just outside maximum range. Her primary objective starting out is to get past Jessica’s defense, and snake her way into her optimal range.
”Hmph…alright Miss Hawke,” Valerie thought to herself, ”let’s see what all the fuss is about, shall we? You may be stronger than I am, but we’ll see how much that gets you when you’re only hitting air.”
