What Are Original Characters? What are original characters? What Are Original Characters?2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Hello everyone! Today we are going to go over the concept of "What is an original character" and this is actually part one of a two part news article series. The second article will be released at a later date.
What do original characters have to do with the Manga/Anime gallery here on deviantART? Well just about everything. The Manga/Anime gallery is designed for original characters only, and by original, I mean original. Here is an example of what I mean...
Drawings of characters submitted into the Manga/Anime gallery can only be your ownThe drawings of characters need to be from your own universe. If the character you are drawing is placed into another "existing universe" such as Pokemon or Naruto, they do not belong in Manga/Anime, instead they belong in fanart.Your own character, your own world, your own creation, then it can go into the Manga/Anime gallery
If anyone is still confused by that, I can show you some visuals using my character
Project Educate: Interview with Namie-kunAs part of Project Educate, some questions were put together for some of the wonderful Manga/Anime artists in our community. And so, today I bring you the first of the interviews!Project Educate: Interview with Namie-kun2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Today we feature =Namie-kun
1. To start off, what is your favorite medium and tools to use?
My favorite would definetely be my laptop and tablet! Less mess, no scanners to fiddle with, easier to bring snacks and I can watch anime and read manga on the side ahah~; Still, the feel of pencil on paper is nothing technology can beat!
2. When you draw, do you plan everything out first, or do you just see where the drawing takes you?
I find that drawing without plans and leaping before looking is more fun. When I plan sometimes pictures don't come out the way I expected it to be; However sometimes it comes out even better! It's really on the whim whether I plan or not~
3. On average, how long do you spend on a drawing?
A Picture I upload onto DA would

is right around the corner. We'll be kicking off September 24th and we need you on board!
What is Community Week?
The majority of Project Educate is run by the CVs. But there's only a few of them and a lot of us—which is why we're asking you, now, to contribute. Know about a specialized art form or technique? Got some advice on becoming well-known for positivity? Want to share your sweet critique skills? We want it all, and we want it now.
In the past, people have contributed in all kinds of ways. The following are just some suggestions to get your thoughts going!

There are tons of options for a blog. Art features with an explanation of the technique or style showcased; tutorials on creating a certain effect (with examples); critiques and how to critique; interacting; dA for dummies—if you have an idea that will make being on this website a more po

PE Interview with DD Recipient AwsumzWhile planing for Daily Deviations PE week many in the community asked for interviews from deviants who had received DDs with varying experiences before. `AwsumZ has received a handful of DDs between his current account as well as his previous account, as such we felt he has went through a range of experiences with DDs as a recipient.PE Interview with DD Recipient Awsumz1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
What was it like when you received your first DD?
Exciting, but also a slight shame because I was a CV (or GD, then) at the time and I saw that it was coming so it wasn't as much as a surprise as I'd have liked it to be lol. It was fun though, a happy magical feeling
Have all of your experiences when receiving a DD been the same?
Hmm, not really. Some have been good and some have been fairly negative
What do DDs mean to you?
They're pretty awesome. Being featured is great, it really helps get some exposure and feedback, etc. but it

Thank you so much for doing this interview, could you tell us a bit about yourself?
To tell the truth, I always become a little confused when it comes to describing who I actually am (my personality). So, my name is Evelin, I study journalism at Moscow State University. Apart from my commitment to culinary, I have a real passion for foreign languages (I’m learning Japanese and Korean), martial arts and I pleasure in the company of different odd-birds. Let me start with a side note today - I'd planned two articles yesterday about dA suggestions, but due to a small bug I couldn't get them to work. I'll either have to wait for the bug to be fixed or to think of a way to restructure them, and I will not get the chance to do that this week So those articles will come later, after Project Educate week has ended. However, following my own Project Educate week, ^Beccalicious will hold a Project Educate week regarding Critique - I may just chip in there and write something about critiquing dA Related art
On to the features!
As the dA Related Community Volunteer, I am blessed to receive some wonderful DD suggestions sent to me by note! Of course I cannot feature them all as Daily Deviations, but I still like many of these that I don't feature. So here's the first of some feature journals with "the best of the

The Pixel Art CommunityWelcome to Pixel Art’s PE week! Firstly, I’d like to begin by discussing where we are in the Pixel Art community, where we came from and where we might head in the future. The Pixel Art Community1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Why discuss the definition of Pixel Art?
Why is it so important to discuss the definition of Pixel Art? It becomes important not only when it comes time to update the category’s description for the sake of organisation and clarity, but also when confusion and misconceptions become increasingly common among those in the community itself. As Pixel Art grew from being primarily used for old computer and gaming systems, that could not handle much data and therefore not too many colours per palette, into something used with more contemporary technologies like Photoshop and MSPaint, Pixel Art itself was bound to reflect those changes. This change has become apparent in new styles, new techniques and questions around the need for the “old rules” of past
Genres of Manga/AnimeI would love to thank ^Damaged927 for originally making this. However, since it was posted a few years back, it may be hidden from the eyes of many people, so now let's reintroduce it to everyone.Genres of Manga/Anime2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
A common misconception is that anime and manga is a genre itself. This is very untrue! Just like any TV show, movie or book, Anime and Manga have their own genres and themes as well. In this article I will be covering the more common genres and themes and give an example series that fit the bill. And since I can never miss an excuse to feature some art, I will post a few fan art's from the series.
Well, this is a common theme found in entertainment industry and anime is no different. The action genre focuses mainly on battles and fights. A prime example of an Action anime is Bleach

PE Interview with DD Suggester Minato-KushinaAs part of Daily Deviations PE week we have interviewed the lovely `Minato-Kushina who has been suggesting DDs since November 2010. She has since then had over 500 suggestions accepted and as a result of her regular suggestions, made her name known on the DD page.PE Interview with DD Suggester Minato-Kushina1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
What first got you interested in wanting to suggest DDs?
I don't really remember the exact point when I started paying attention to DDs. I guess, I saw these beautiful pictures at the bottom of my page. Gradually, I understood that they were a kind of "award" for outstanding pieces. I was also wondering how some people could suggest DDs! By searching here and there, I found the way.
I eventually decided to send my first suggestion to ^rydi1689, the then Fan Art Gallery Moderator. She is so kind, she accepted it immediately! This encouraged me to suggest more and eventually to love this task. I am generally shy with others. So this gesture, although it may seemed normal to her, it was
Manga/Anime Tutorial Hub: Drawing AnimeSo what's this all about? A while back I decided that it would be best to create a place where tutorials that are vital to Manga/Anime artists to have a home, an easy place to reach if they felt that they ever needed it. One by one articles featuring tutorials based off of specific trades and mediums will be posted, and in the end a master article that'll unite them all together. The hope is to have as much as possible in one easy to reach place. This time around its Drawing Anime's turn.Manga/Anime Tutorial Hub: Drawing Anime2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Let's get started
Let's see if there's any official FAQ about it:
There's quite some! I recommend you to always read these FAQs before doing anything or visiting :#help: on dAmn
So, let's try out something, shall we?
When you enter your freshly created room you'll notice the following things:
The Title are will be empty
There will be no topic area
You will be placed into 'Guests' by default
You may ask the following; Why am I in the Guests privclass?
It's simple: because the room is in need of setting up and since you've just created it, no one ever joined it before!
You must promote yourself into the highest (Founders is the default privclass for that) group there, so others will know that you're in charge of that room!
How to do that?
