Master ClassI've been crazy hard at work over at http://www.cheshirecatart.com. I posted 5 new pictures (not on DeviantArt) up at http://www.cheshirecatart.com/gallery12.html, so to get a sneak peek of what I'm up to, drop by there. I also spent all weekend creating a new page called Master Class (http://www.cheshirecatart.com/masterclass.html).Master Class4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Master Class is basically images and analyzations of some of my favorite comic artists, their styles, careers, etc. I'm kicking this thing off with images from Kaba, Katsuhiro Otomo's phenomenally rare art book (http://www.cheshirecatart.com/blog/?p=693#more-693) and I'll be following it up with Kaba 2 on Wednesday, as well as a post of Frank Quitely sketches and some Alex Maleev sketches after that. Keep tuned into the blog for more shenanigans: http://www.cheshirecatart.com/blog/

Year will end so...As every year, even this time I'm leaving for couple of days, with my christian buddies to celebrate New Year I'm looking forward for it, because everytime it's fun, and I learn new things about my Savior, and it's also encouragement and inspiration for next year. I've been told, last year on that trip, that this year - 2014 - will be year of Joy...and yes it was . Because I've decided to be cheerful, and even in that time when I had artblock I was still full of joy and happiness and I had many things to be grateful for. It's important, to be happy about little things (In my case I'm usually happy because of fact, that I'm saved by God himself ). I know that this is well known phrase, and being optimistic all the time can be really annoying for some people, but sometimes we just need more optimism to get over some things xD. i saw my husbands video and felt the urge of wanting to make one as well. why? dunno.. I just realized I wanted to relax and sketch whatever so I turned on my recorder XD
its funny, there have been so many times I wanted to demonstrate the way both me and my husband write our comics. but I just couldn't get around to catching that moment when I had a certain idea I wanted to turn into a strip.
With me it happens gradually, especially now that I have a ton of work on the side so I can draw an idea in a few doodles, and let it sit around. then after a few days I come back to it.. or after a month or after 3 months. sometimes the idea is good, and sometimes it isn't. sometimes when you think you had the best idea, you wake up the next morning and think.. what was i thinking ?? XD
This can never fit there!
But sometimes its a fun or interesting idea so you keep it anyway XD
well this video shows how the ideas are born. I'm pretty sure many of you are f

Enjoy the little things in life, it's too short not to. One of the things that I have noticed about Bill and Suki in the zoo is that they seem to enjoy everything. Food, toys, treats, laying in the sun on a cool day and Suki even enjoys being out in the rain. There's something to take away from that. Enjoy the now and be happy. Be happy for whatever good is in your life, be it your friends, your opportunities, even something as small as being able to stand in the sun...or, if you prefer, the rain. Every day is a new chance, so enjoy it. It seems rather fitting that the smallest fox in North America can teach such a large lesson about small things, and it's a pretty simple one; enjoy life.

Bobby Chiu's 4 keys to setting good goalsGOOOAAALS! The World Cup is the perfect time to talk about goals.Bobby Chiu's 4 keys to setting good goals1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Setting good goals is useful to not just artists but anyone who wants to achieve something.
When I graduated college and started my career, my goals were unfocused. Basically, I just wanted to get a job doing what I love, which in my case is of course drawing and painting. That was my whole goal. I didn't aim for anything more than that, and as a result, my career went nowhere.
Then, after reflecting on my career and examining the careers of people I admired (again, not just artists), I developed a master plan for my success that basically boiled down to four things:
1. Recognize the importance of setting goals.
Let's say you have the extraordinary ability to kick a ball farther and more accurately than anyone you know. As a result, you want to become a soccer player. But then when you're on the soccer pitch and the ball comes to you, you just kick it as hard as you can in what
Why I Draw Women OftenI recently got a message, and I will slightly reword it so as not to cause profane friction, nor will I state who it came from, but it read like this: "Why is everything you post regarding a woman? I think it's very sexist when the only thing you can draw are breasts and buttocks like it's the only thing in the world."Why I Draw Women Often3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Okay, so by now, if you haven't been watching me for a good minute, you know that I really like to draw women, and I like portraying the female form, usually and often in a tasteful manner. I could hypothetically end that question there and just answer "I wasn't aware everything in my gallery was a woman or had breasts and a butt" and then post a picture or two of Rai Rivet... But I'm not going to do that. I'm going to explain my stance on drawing the female form and my adoration for it.

I Hope This Helps My Fellow Anxiety SufferersA psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "halfempty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?"I Hope This Helps My Fellow Anxiety Sufferers2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.
She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."
She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything."
Remember to put the glass down.

What is it about a fictional character first introduced to the public in Great Britain in 1887 that has kept him being reincarnated, with generationally-correct upgrades, over and over again in film and on television? Who is this literary hero whose portrayal over the past century by such past masters as Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett to today’s vanguard talents Robert Downey, Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch has inspired such a continuing outpouring of fan appreciation?

Notes on Character Design
I received the question pictured below at my tumblr blog. In case it's useful to anyone here, I decided to go ahead and use this otherwise dormant journal to share the article I put together in response.
Character design and drawing are tome-sized topics and even if I had all the answers (I don't - I have a lot to learn), I'm not sure I could communicate them effectively. Here are some thoughts an ideas that might help, though.
First, some general things...
Let some of that anxiety go. This isn't a hard science. There's no wrong way,
Art trades and point commissions!I'm willing to practice for a while since I'm working on a small project and I have some time. So!Art trades and point commissions!11 months ago in Personal More Like This
Point commissions - you can find them on my profile page, basically 400 points for a pin up of an OC or a favorite character. Cheap as F, having in mind 400 points are like $5. Personal use only.
Art trades - I'm willing to draw 2 or 3 of somebody's OCs if somebody is willing to draw Lucid! You can find her in my gallery, a zombie-ish chick with purple-ish hair and a red dress. I don't require her to be in the same clothes, but with the same hair. I want to see her trough somebody else's eyes! Personal use only.
Regular commissions - note me for details, prices start from $25 and a commercial use option is available in this case so you could use it for everything after discussed and priced properly.
Hello, DA, I'm back! I think. For now at least xd
