OUR MOVIE TRAILER...Here is the first trailer/teaser for the feature length movie we are currently producing. The reference to the Ssaskatchewan gov't has to do with their foolish removal of a tax credit that was bringing in more than $6 for every dollar spent; a move which crippled and almost killed the video/film industry here.OUR MOVIE TRAILER...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Please note the images in the montage are from the only segment that we have shot so far. The completed film will also include hip-hop zombies, satanic metal bands, voodoo, immortal demi-gods, and much more craziness!
Happy days of the dead! Part IIHello beautiful people of the world!Happy days of the dead! Part II3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
We are on November, the month in which the first two days are dedicated to the deceased in Mexico.
According to the traditional catholic ritual the first day is for remembering the young spirits, and the second day is for the adults that left us behind.
While I was searching for some info and making a recognition tour in dA I found some amazing deviations inspired by my favourite festivity and decided to do a mega feature divided in two (because of the two days of celebration) to spread the love for this gorgeous mexican tradition.
Most of the deviations I found were related to the sugar skulls used on the altars. If you didn't know what those means, well I'll tell you a secret: Those ar

ast week we published the video of Josh Wattles, makepictures Fan Art Law panel from Comic-Con. An educative, passionate and very enlightening conversation soon followed in the comments section. You can participate in that conversation here.
This week the superstars of deviantART panel will provide unique insight and advice for artists on the rise in the deviantART community.
Being a member of the deviantART community might be the most important support system a young artists could ever hope to have. That being said, there is also the problem of finding a way to stand out when surrounde

I Did NOT Hack Chris Pollari's Account! It has come to my attention that a painter called Christopher Pollari has been making outrageous and controversial comments about me and, due to the nature of these claims, you might think I have hacked into his profile and/or blackmailed him in some way, but that's NOT true!I Did NOT Hack Chris Pollari's Account!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now for the really odd bit: this is all a GOOD thing!
Let me explain... I have been following Chris's work for a while, simply because it's beautiful, technically outstanding, inventive, lyrical, "cool", surreal, unique, etc. And I knew he was also following my stuff and had said a couple of complimentary things about my work and so on. I thought perhaps he was just being polite (as we Canucks tend to be) but imagine my surprise today when I just happened to stumble across a couple of replies he'd made to people who had commented on his latest WIP:
When someone complimented him (quite rightly) on how well this piece was coming along, Chris replied that his inspiration comes from "Huwman, the coole
My Progression as an Animator at DisneyA friend of mine is writing a book on animation fundamentals and asked me for a "paragraph or two" (which I can't do) on the subject of timing. I considered it and ended up writing about my progression of learning while a Disney animator in the traditional animation days. It was good therapy for me to really think this through and consider the order of things. I hope you enjoy it. "Like" or "fav" this so others will see it too. My Progression As A Disney Animator
by Tom Bancroft
Walt Disney is quoted as saying that it takes 10 years to make a great animator.
When I was first coming out of California Institute of the Arts and joining a Disney internship in 1988, hearing that quote was devastating. 10 years? That's FOREVER! I wanted to be a full-fledged Disney animator in TWO years! I rationalized that that was a way of thinking from the 40s and today, we move at a quicker pace, so-

To all you awesome people who've done fanart for me over the years...
You guys are amazing, and I’m grateful for every single fan piece that’s been done for me, no matter how rough or rudimentary it is.
Now, that being said, I want to share a little bit of truth with everyone. No matter how many fans draw my characters out of admiration for them or for my work, I do not see this as determining my level of success or popularity. Fanart does not define me as an artist or who I am as a person. It is what I do and how I behave with everyone that defines me as a person. I share this with you guys because I have recently seen a few cases where good artists I know have deemed themselves unwanted or unloved from lack of fanart of their works. Of course, feeling down due to lack of feedback on your work is a natural feeling for an artist to have, and little to no demonstrations of interest in your art can be heartbreaking

Make it Glow: A Photoshop TutorialThis is also a rebloggable Tumblr Post!Make it Glow: A Photoshop Tutorial3 years ago in Personal More Like This
A lot of people were asking me how I did the glowing/neon light effects on my last drawing. It's actually extremely easy, and it looks great with shapes or text.
The key to this effect is contrast. Your background and overall image must be pretty dark for it to be effective. You know how you can't see a flashlight in broad daylight? The same applies here.
Step one, make a new document, and invert the default black background (command + i) or manually fill it with black. Then make A NEW LAYER. This is the layer containing the colors you want to glow.
Now duplicate the layer you just made with the colors. Set the layer style to "screen." Screen applies the layer to make everything below it lighter. (It's the opposite of the "Multiply" setting.)
Now apply a "Gaussian Blur" fi

Me and my sweet slow loris are planning on moving out of Pasadena in March (hopefully!!). We will still be in the Los Angeles area--Just not exactly sure where? Not only are we moving out for space and privacy, but we are also expecting!!
Remember the Space Case comic I did for 24hr comic book day a couple years back? Well, we almost thought it couldn't happen. But with the help of SCIENCE (and IVF), I still have a functioning ovary (as painful as it still is ) and have gotten pregnant.
Honestly, this is a miracle!
I don't want to bore everyone with the details (perhaps it'll be the subject of a new mini comic like Space Case)... but we d

:iconLiberatedPuppeteer:: One of my close friends here on deviantART. Her stories are very entertaining to read, she's also the mastermind behind the newest project Fate's Gale! She's also done some doodles here and there which are pretty cool as well, she's even done the bloopers of my own stories as well. I highly recommend viewing her gallery.
:iconTheLingeringShadow:: Another of my close friends on deviantART, he's done some writing in the past and a part of the Fate's Gale project. He hasn't done much writing as he's done in the past but now he's starting to get into writing parody versions of some written work done by our friends. He's an awesome guy to be friends with, especially if you're a Metal Gear fan like him XD.
:iconMarimokun:: A good friend of mine on dA, her sketches are REALLY good. She's also posted some cosplay photos which are awesome as well! Check out her

How to: AnatomyHuman anatomy is, for sure, one of the hardest things to draw. But at the same time it's one of the most interesting things to draw, because... hey... we love making characters, and it's nice if they at least look a bit like a human being. I'm still far from perfect at drawing the human body, yet I've accumulated some very useful tips, tricks and websites. How to: Anatomy3 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Drawing from life
Drawing from life is awesome!
Look for life drawing classes in your environment, or if they're not available; ask your friends to pose for you. Go have a drink in the city when the weather is nice, and sketch people passing by. There's nowhere you learn more about human anatomy than by observing and sketching real people. There's only one downside to this; dynamic poses are tricky, as it's hard for any model to hold a difficult pose for a long time.
And no... drawing (nearly) naked people in a drawing class isn't awkward. I
