The Vampire Next Door - 8Reginald stepped outside of the truck, grabbed my bag, and opened my door, just as I finished unbuckling my seat belt and reached for the door handle. Was it just my imagination, or was he getting faster? I shook it from my mind as I stepped out of the truck and followed him up to the door. The Vampire Next Door - 84 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
He didn't knock, but he just walked in the house, calling out "Nonno?" as we entered. It was dark, but somehow, Reginald managed to walk to the living room and set my belongings down.
"Sit here," he said, pulling me to the couch. "I'm going to look for my grandfather."
I nodded and sat on the edge of the couch, nervous for entering into this strange house. I heard a noise soon after Reginald left and I looked towards the sound, trying to see through the darkness.
"So, I see my foolish grandson has brought you here. It seems that he still won't listen to me." The voice came out of the darkness.
A light came on and I was blinded momentarily. I blinked the spots away and saw, for the first time,
The Vampire Next Door - 7"Josiah." It wasn't a question, it was a statement. He knew who I was talking about now, and worry quickly replaced the comprehending look. He left my room only to return seconds later. He shook his head. The Vampire Next Door - 74 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"Put on something warmer." He demanded.
I looked at him in shock, "What?"
"You're not going to stay here. Put on some warm clothing and pack a bag for a couple of days."
"Where are you going to take me?"
He paused, "While he may not like it, he'll deal with it," It was muttered to himself. He turned to me, "We're going to my grandfather's house, seeing as he's conveniently moved near this city for a while. You'll be safe there until I can find someplace " He trailed off as he disappeared from my room again.
I quickly stuffed a couple shirts and jeans into a duffle bag along with my Italian and Romanian dictionaries. I also grabbed a couple of books and placed them carefully into the bag, not wanting to damage my precious friends. Several pens, pencils, and composition notebooks f
The Vampire Next Door - 9He smiled, "Of course, boy. Relax. I will teach her, since you have other matters to attend to." He raised an eyebrow, and even I could tell that was a clear dismissal. The Vampire Next Door - 94 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"I did take classes in Romanian and Italian while I was in college, so I sort of know the languages," I shrugged shyly, "It's just that I have a hard time understanding it when you talk so fast."
Reginald's grandfather looked at me, a brief flash of emotion across his face showed that he was surprised and impressed, if only because I took the initiative to learn them when Reginald was gone. Reginald raised an eyebrow, his way of showing his surprise. I blushed slightly; suddenly glad I had taken those classes.
Reginald walked over to me. "Meisha, I'll have to go for a bit, I've got to find Josiah. Nonno will play nice, alright? By the way, his name is Alexander. It's Romanian for defender of mankind." He gave me a quick hug and bolted out the door.
Alexander smiled ruefully. "He's always been like that." He walke

"Damn! This bear is too tough!" Bear swipes paw and lands a hit on Komori's face causing sharp pain to echo throughout her body. She then howls out in pain.
Dakota tilted her head to the side, frowning. "How to howl..." Blythe chuckled, "You have to feel it in your chest, and your heart."
Essence listened, perking her ears and gave them a bewildered expression. "How do you feel it in your chest?"
Kara backed away from Essence a little seeing how she frightened back from her " Um just suck in a deep breath and let your feelings all flow out, is how I would describe it,,," she stated as she watched them.
"Damn! This fight is getting me nowhere! I've been tracking the scent of the other wolves but this stupid bear ended up finding me!" The bear swipes its paw and ends up hitting Komori straight in the face causing pain to shoot up and down through her body. "Augh!" S

Essence paused eating as she looked at the other wolves around her. She thought back suddenly to Jaxon whom they had left in the den. "We should being some back to him," she said remembering his limp from earlier.
Dakota glanced at the golden wolf and nodded, "It would be best, after all. He did invite us into his home, it's the least we can do." Blythe nodded his agreement, his mouth full at the moment.
Jaxon yawned again looking around, "were did everyone go?" He asked himself. sniffing the air and catching wind.
Tearing off a leg from the kill, hearing it snap and rip, Essence held the piece of flesh tightly in her jaws as she padded in the direction to Jaxon. She paused, her scent of smell becoming confused and glanced back at Dakota and Blythe. How embarrassing...

CHAPTER ONE: THE PAST
The white and black she-wolf padded along slowly, worn out from her endless travel. She searched the empty land looking for the family she had lost, or someone to replace them. She trotted up to a lake, pausing a moment to take in her reflection. Icy blue eyes starred back her, yet instead of being blind, she could see just fine. She closed her eyes and began to lap up the cool water with her tongue.
She knew she had to get out. She needed to get out. She wasn't meant to be here...not after what they did. She had ran through the plan a million times in her head and once they left the lab for the night she hit her head against the side of her cage where she had chewed to weaken it. She escaped from her cage ignoring the looks of the other imprisoned cretures gazing in awe. She glanced around wondering what to do next.
Midnight ran away from the horrible sight, her mother taking away, her
