Those words kept ringing in Chell's ears as he rode the elevator up.
It was the strangest thing that ever happened to her.
Granted, the singing turrets were a bit unusual too, but GLaDOS just letting her go, setting her free the moment she was the most vulnerable and easiest to kill was unbelievable.
It was so not GLaDOS.
Actually Chell didn't believe it at all.
She just knew she would end up in another test chamber, hearing the sadistic voice of GLaDOS saying she had been enhancing the truth once more.
When the elevator stopped she saw a big vault-like door and sighed.
Just as she expected.
But the door opened and warm, yellow light came streaming in.
Half-blinded Chell stepped out, feeling a bit naked without her portal gun.
It took her eyes a bit to get adjusted to the bright light, but when they did Chell saw the most beautiful thing she ever saw.
An endless wheat field waved in a soft summer breeze.
Birds flew by, twittering and chasing each othe

Clouds swirled dully in a dreary, drab, and utterly depressing shade of gray. Humidity hung heavily in the air, portending the monsoon season in the Fire Nation. It was nasty and sticky and dark out: all the more reason to say inside and sleep in.
These were Katara's thoughts as she stay curled up under the sheets of her new bed, burying her head farther into the plush pillow. Thus, when Fire Lord Zuko moved lazily from her side and began stripping himself of his sleepwear, she protested grumpily.
"Mmm, come back," she muttered, turning over with what seemed to be a great deal of effort. "It's too early."
Zuko glanced over at her with mild amusement as he tied the strings of his loose red pants in a careless bow at his hips. Her eyes were mere slits of sapphire against the bronze of her skin, watching his every move. "It's nearly eleven," he argued placidly.
"Yeah, it's too early," she repeated.
He chuckled lightly under his breath. "Sorry," he apologi

AN UNOFFICIAL SEQUEL TO FOREVER
The sound of her father's gentle calling barely registered with her but still she managed to stop and say in an even tone of voice, "I'm fine, Dad," before continuing along the corridor toward her bedroom.
As her family watched her walk away, the blind earthbender stepped up beside the torn old man and told him, "She's lying." Toph barely managed to get the words out before her throat constricted and her sobbing continued.
Wrapping his arm around her shaking shoulders, Hakoda replied, "She'll be lying to herself for a long time, Toph." His arms tightened around her then as he added, "We all will." Tears began to roll along all their faces and everyone gathered around the grieving pair. Each one of them was caught up in the tender embrace and every hallway of the Fire Nation palace was filled with the sound of their endless weeping.

Toph paced back and forth, rubbing her swollen belly. She stopped as a cramp closed it way across her womb. Katara jumped from the couch she was sitting on and was at Toph's side in seconds.
"Toph, you need to sit, you doing this to your self is not helping you or the baby." Katara lead Toph to the couch and made her sit.
Katara pulled some water out of her water skins and ran the water over Toph's belly. "WOW, Toph. He is one strong baby" the burses on Toph belly where bad.

Why, Katara wanted to know. Why did he have to screw up everything she had worked so hard to perfect, all order in camp, the group's entire schedule?
She always had a planned outline of her day that she followed strictly. Roll up her sleeping bag, wash her face, brush her hair, slip her dress over her bindings, and go out to start breakfast. Clean the dishes after the morning meal and then gather laundry so everyone could have clean clothes. Lunch was a free-for-all: if you were that hungry, get up and make your own food.
Training sessions were always next, when the sun was almost exactly overhead. First she would spar with Toph, then with Aang, then with Zuko. She alternated days training in hand-to-hand combat with Suki, learning how to knock out a grown man in a single punch, between days where Sokka would teach her how to properly hold a dagger or a sword. If it was Thursday, her training would be abandoned and replaced with a trip t

It had been months since he'd joined the Avatar and his gang in their quest to defeat his father. Ozai was in prison, Azula in chains, and everything was on its way to being restored to its original splendor. And yet another explosion sent Zuko flying into the wall behind him. "When am I ever going to get this right!?" It was hopeless, he thought, but still he rose with the sun each morning to practice the art of bending lightning. All his practice was getting him nowhere though, and every morning he would stomp off to his study to meditate and cool down. That morning was no different except for the fact that a certain Water Tribe warrior was waiting for him.
"Sokka. I'm not in the mood."
Katara's annoying brother didn't even think twice about Zuko's distraught expression. He just started talking. "So, Zuko, you know we'll be leaving soon and all that, and Katara will be staying behind because you, we

He stood completely immobilized, completely helpless as everyone he even remotely cared about was lined up in front of him in his mother's courtyard with heavy shackles around their wrists. Toward the far left end of the line stood Jun, the bounty hunter, and next to her were Song and Jin with equally frightened faces. Mischievous Li stood sandwiched between his parents Gansu and Sela, who did their best to stand in front of him like a shield. Childhood friends Mai and Ty Lee were standing together. Mai's face betrayed her phlegmatic barrier with the slightest hint of tears and Ty Lee was full out bawling. Sokka, Suki, Aang, and Toph held hands the best they could, digging their heels into the ground for support.
Zuko didn't even have to look to know what order the last three people were in, but the guards in heavy, full armor left him no choice and forced him to see them. Ursa's elegant robes were slashed and hung around her in limp tatters. "Never fo

"Congratulations, my Lord," one of the many palace servants said to Fire Lord Zuko, inclining his head in warranted respect. The lord nodded slightly, confused, but brushed it off with a curt word of thanks. Zuko continued though the palace, alone, heading to his mother's beloved turtle-duck pond.
On his way, he was stopped four more times by various maids and butlers that granted him good luck and best wishes. He responded politely each time, but, truth be told, he didn't have the slightest inkling as to why he was being congratulated. The fifth time a servant stopped him and gave his blessings, Zuko lost his patience and questioned him.
"I must be missing something important, because I don't have the slightest idea why every single person I've seen has told me congratulations or good luck. Can you tell me what the hell is going on?"
The servant's forehead creased inquisitively. "Lady Katara has not told you? She just learned that she is b

The night was absolutely perfect. The pristine silver-white sand caught the waxing moon's bright light, each grain of minute rock a parallel to the star-freckled sky. The towel that Katara had flopped over the sand was just out of reach of the high tide's greedy fingers and the cool evening breeze rippled across the ocean's surface in gentle surges.
Too bad her neck was too sore and her back was too stiff to really enjoy it.
With a small bottle of a sweet-smelling, sparkling drink in one hand and her towel in the other, she had shuffled down to the shore to relax--maybe the salty brine of the waves would help to loosen up her terrible tense muscles or at least help clear her mind. She now laid on her stomach, her arms curled up by her head and one cheek pressed comfortably into the plush towel beneath her. But at the moment, he looked like anything but the reigning ruler over all the Fire Nation. He was pacing around the room like a scared little kid or rather a nervous young man who had something weighing heavily on his mind. Hakoda could easily guess what it was which was why he kept wondering to himself why the young man didn't just spill it already and save himself the aggravation. Sokka had told him what they were up to that past week - that boy couldn't keep a secret to save his life - and Gran-Gran had also spilled the exciting news, which had been a bit of a surprise since she was unbelievably tight-lipped about ot

(I refer to that one-shot in this story, so I recommend that you read that one first)
The firebender was in love with a Water Tribe girl. Shaking the distraction from her mind, Katara reined in her thoughts, forced them into submission, and tried to focus on the flow of water in her hands. Up and down. Back and forth. The clear, blue liquid moved with grace through her fingers and around her body in measured motions of fluidity. In. Out. Push. Pull. The only sounds that reached her ears were the misty splash of the waves and the crash of the ocean's current against the sand. Her mind was fixed on the present. Nothing else existed. No past. No future. Only the here and now. So, are you pleasantly distracted?
The water abruptly dropped from her command and the waterbender stood as rigid as a block of ice. Why did his voice have to constantly disrupt her thought
