The DreamThis was a Facebook status I made last night, but by request, I'm posting it here:The Dream3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I hate when people call me "lucky" for the successes I've had. I worked hard for them. Real hard. Possibly too hard. For that same reason, when people who give up on their dreams complain to me about their lot in life, I'm not gentle with them. I can't be. I know life can get really tough, but to give up in the face of adversity shows a real weakness of character. To watch people give up saddens me, and kind of angers me as well.

If there's one thing that I love, then it is to see my photos being used to create really beautiful art. So, in order to honor some of the amazing artists out there I've picked a few favourites from all of the photos where my stock has been used over the past weeks. There are tons of pictures that deserves to be featured, but I could only pick a few, unfortunatly.

The 101 Guide To Marketing For ArtistsSlowly I get to catch up with deviations on here, now I just need to make use of the journals more oftenThe 101 Guide To Marketing For Artists9 months ago in Personal More Like This
There are some things I would be glad, someone would have told me earlier...
Marketing is such a thing - since I´m freelancing 5 years now it is save to say that is no accident that I´m happily blessed with the "just right" clients and it all boils down to be due to authentic marketing. Honestly- I embrace everything that has to do with it, below you find my write up to get a better understanding of what it is all about.
I always found interest in psychology and marketing but when I jumped on the freelancing train 5 years ago I especially embraced anything that I could find to help me understand, use and practice marketing as a way to keep myself busy with work that I love to do and to collaborate with people who respect what I do.
In the process I learned much from many different experts and in this post I will forward what I´ve learn

DeviantART announced a month ago that through a new organization, Dadotart we applied to manage a new Top Level Domain (TLD) called “.ART.” We are committed to having the .ART TLD — the Internet addresses that could end in .ART — organized and distributed with the full participation of the global art community.
We need your help!
We need your help to show public support for the Dadotart application. The application process to manage a TLD is long, arduous, and intricate. Help us gather as a true art-centric community. How to get feedback on dAWe all joined this site, more or less for this reason, to get feedback on our art. The whole point of submitting art online is for people to see it and hear what they think about it.How to get feedback on dA8 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Now there are a lot of deviants out there who get little to no feedback and as a result ask the people who faved their art to comment or go to random people on dA and ask for them to look at their art or comment in the hopes that the person will be kind enough to return the favor.
A message to the people who do that, you're doing it all wrong.
Sure, if you ask 20 people who faved your drawing what they thought about it, you might get 1 or 2 answers, but in return, you'll be ignored by say 10 people and you'll annoy 8 people. I get these comments and i'm telling you, begging for feedback is not the way to go, if someone didn't comment when they fave, what makes you think forcing their hand is the right way to go?
A fav is a compliment, take it a it is. Not everyone has
Where this all came fromI recently exchanged messages with someone who incredulously asked me how inflation could be defined as a culture, so I'm reposting my thoughts on that here, because I don't think a lot of recent additions to the community understand where this community came from.Where this all came from5 months ago in Personal More Like This
In the pre-internet days, inflatable fetishists found each other through classified ads in city newspapers. That was before my time, but I was aware of my weird interests from an extremely young age, long before it turned into an actual fetish. One of the people who had been using classifieds to make contact with others, Buster of the Balloon Buddies, posted to Usenet, and I replied to him in 1994 when I first got private (i.e. non-school, moved into my own apartment) online access. The other person I met was Seritaph, who I found shared my love of tightly inflated hourglass shapes -- a brother-from-another-mother situation. More than anything, I was thrilled to find that these crazy thoughts in my head were not just me -- t

Cthulhu is Still Calling
Written By techgnotic
Having been thinking a lot about the origins of our globally held Dragon mythos in a recent article Reptilicus Infernicus, I couldn’t help but notice the Cthulhu legend was always lurking at the edges of my mind as I was researching the subject matter.
The Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acq

The Capture vs. The Pose
portrait of a WW2 vet...
When a subject poses to have his or her photograph taken, the subject tries to project a message about himself or
herself by how he or she “poses”, by the attitude of his or her body language or facial expression.
If the subject is posed by the photographer, the body pulled and prodded into the desired angles,
the facial expression “directed”, it is the photographer who is intending to communicate a message.
In either case, posing or posed, there is undeniably something “false” in the representation.

He was an artist you might not know.
But you’ve met his children…
It’s rare that a “new” iconic monster is born and becomes forever identifiable,—— no matter the variations, by generation after generation. So it was when George Romero created the ultimate “zombie” in his Night of the Living Dead in 1968. Zombie Apocalypse fans today may have never heard of George or seen the original “Night,” but the zombies they so love in fare like The Walking Dead

Nuances of an Annual Ritual
Which brings us to each year’s communal celebration of the passing of our lifetimes:
New Year’s Eve
So what did you “actually get done” in the past year? How closer are you to a grand goal in life? An assessment is made and then the inevitable Step 2 of the yearly process is engaged, which is often a word for word repeat of last year’s Step 2:
The New Year’s Resolution
There seem to be two main strategies that emerge at this point of facing the New Year, a “brand new morning.” The lone wolf quietly acknowledges goals not yet reached, and is even more secretive in the “new plan.” “I’ll show them,” becomes the new privat
