Haha! This is the first FanArt I made for an exercise in school!

We had to cut a bookmark with the saw. Form was free. Being a huge HP-Fan, I decided to take the Golden Snitch. There are many designs for this little ball and this one's something like a combination.

Golden Snitch, Quidditch and Harry Potter Series in general ŠJoanne Kathleen Rowling!!!!!
Artwork, idea, photos: ŠIlionej October 2010
Material: 1mm brass plate, cut with the saw
Sizes: ball diameter = 6cm, front wing length 7,5cm (yes, I know it's big for a bookmark. But you should have seen the others...)

P.S.: Background, yes. There was this sh***y towel in the workshop. I thought immediately of Quidditch when I saw it :blushes:

Below is my long winded explanation of my library designed for North Boulder.

The site was located in North Boulder with many undulating hills to the west. I wanted my design to harmoniously blend into these hills when viewed from the eastern side. So rather than making the roof that curves into the ground I decided to say fuck it and curve the ground up to the roof. This facilitates a much more direct and metaphorical interpretation of the idea as well as functioning as out door seating, amphitheater seating (located of the northern side of the building) and an interesting human-architecture/nature-architecture interaction. It also solves the problem of pinched space that would result from a roof that curves into the ground. In this case the earth is pushed against vertical fully functioning walls.

The sculptural topography is representative of both mans (my) desire to conform it (earth) to mans image, and also how nature will inexorably escape our control which is illustrated in the landscapes penetration of the architectures' interior, as if it were reclaiming it as its own. This demonstrates how very fragile, not only our existence on earth is, but also the popular delusion that we are in control of it and the reason it exists.

The two bowing roofs are designed to reflect the image of the shadowing hills and the black fractal like structure is a metal strut system occupied by glass. Metaphorically it represents crystals that have been created by the timeless flow of water through a canyon (the two hills/roofs) and then revealed/mined/exploited by the hand of man (there is a strong history of mining in boulder). This structure also helps to guide the visitor through the primary stacks in a flowing, sunlit manner. Even though my design in many ways describes natures, well, natural expulsion and confliction with man, it was my original, albeit naive and idealistic intention to provide a space that lives in harmony with nature and bridges the chasm between the two(architecture/man and nature). I therefore intended for my steel and glass strut system to provide a sky of sorts, which would guide the visitor through the space in a poetic manner. And most importantly this structure serves as the primary entrances and exits depending on which side you enter. There is some more stuff going on inside, but I will spare you.

If I were a decent writer I'm would have been able to convey more in half the lines and If you actually read all of this I am very grateful and hope you found it interesting. I poured an ungodly number of hours into this thing over a month and a half, countless study models, drawings and meditations, so I have a hard time putting it out there as just an "object" at the mercy of the viewer, which I'm sure has to be one of the great dilemmas of any artist. Any way I would love to hear what you guys think, hopefully some criticisms from some fellow designers/design students or, whoever.

THANKS AGAIN FOR READING! and if you didn't THANKS FOR LOOKING!.

A purse I made the other day while watching "Horton Hears a Who" I'm very pleased with the way this came out and I really wish I could get better pictures but work kicked my butt pretty bad today and I'm not feeling well enough to pick through 40 different pictures of the same thing in different lighting. Anyway its made out of duct tape and lined with yellow gingham fabric also it has 3 buttons sewn on to the duct tape "scarf" thing thats tied on the handles... better pictures to come maybe...

I do sell all my duct tape art please contact me by note or comment for more info
