I figured it out from black and white.
Seconds and hours.
Maybe they had to take some time.
I know how it goes from wrong and right.
Silence and sound.
Did they ever hold each other tight
Did they ever fight
We can make it 'til the end.
Nothing can come between
Not even the Gods above
Can separate the two of us.
I figured it out.
Saw the mistakes of up and down.
Meet in the middle.
There's always room for common ground.

I see what it's like for day and night.

Batman and Abe Lincoln fight John W. Booth...Honestly I have no idea of how I found this. I'm sure I was searching for something educated on YouTube... I'm sure... Why people pick on scienceRecently, right-wing conservatives jumped on what they thought was a juicy, hilarious story of government waste - that "$400,000 in tax money" went to "measuring duck penises."Why people pick on science2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Meanwhile, record numbers of people are choosing not to vaccinate their children, convinced that vaccines either do little to help or are even responsible for rising frequencies of autism.
You may have also noticed my back-and-forth with someone who actually believes that the whole of human industry and technology - which has changed our planet more severely than any natural process ever documented - has no noticeable impact on atmospheric conditions and climate as a whole.
What do all of these things have in common?
They're all symptoms of the same petty defiance disorder and gross misunderstanding of the scientific world.
The average person has positively no clue what the very word "science" truly even stands for, what "scientific community" refers to, how peer review works, how research is conducted, h

Clive Barker Wants To Read Your Writing
Artwork by CliveBarker
You know CliveBarker as the master of horror fiction and young adult fantasy. But did you know he is also an acclaimed fine artist with paintings hanging in several galleries and art institutions?
For Halloween this year, Clive is going to take a break from writing stories for you—and read your original stories based on some of the artwork he's created.
As inspiration for your tale of horror or mystery or special wonder, Clive is providing the prompts of his own paintings that are to be your starting points.
What’s the story behind the painting?
Clive himself will judge the submitted imaginings and decide which work of prose best captures the untold
No More Unauthorized ArtworkRegarding the debate of whether comic artists should continue selling unauthorized prints/sketches of characters they don't own, I think Bissette and his legal advisor are 100% correct. So from now on, I won't be doing any sketches or commissions at shows of any character that I don't own. Am I rolling over in fear of Marvel? Maybe, but as it states below, they're in their legal right to come after me if there's ever a dispute. I love to complain about the Big Two, but I can't (in good conscience) get upset at them if I'm breaking the rules myself. Being DC exclusive, maybe I can get a waiver that allows me to sketch DC characters, so I'll keep you updated. No More Unauthorized Artwork3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Inking on the L.A.M.The past few weeks were emotionally rough, so I found myself closing down, creatively, and retreating into an analytic frame of mind. I started getting very picky about technical things, focusing like a laser on - you guessed it - brush strokes. This sort of thing has the potential to quickly degenerate to the level of a symptom. In my case, I think it starts as a symptom, which is my signal to elevate it to practical knowledge and skill by channeling it through art.Inking on the L.A.M.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
In any event, after a long period of "obsessing," I formulated a new, streamlined understanding of brush inking abstracted from all I have explained so far. And it should come as no surprise that, as with my original brush handling "katas", it's based on my experience in the martial arts.
"Inking on the L.A.M." * is a simple, practical, and elegant way to approach controlling ink effects by matching brush movement to the kind of lines and marks one wants to make. It is analytical, not intuitive, wh

This story is true.
While I exaggerate some of the events in this story, and will not name certain specifics out of the interest of continued employment, everything in this story is true.
It is also a very long story. The story of 2011. The story of the year I spent going through unemployment, internships, freelancing, temp work, and reconstructing my own life from the ground up. It's about coming to the realization of my pride being my downfall, how much I thought I deceived myself into thinking I was any good at anything, how little I truly knew about myself, and of course, the ways in which I rectified it all...a little bit.
It's a story that continues as I still live on into the next day, and the day afterward, as the transition isn't anywhere near a heroic conclusion. But such is a matter of life; I am on this hero's journey of mine until the day I kick it. Perpetual change.
This is also a story I've been meaning to tell since last March. That was w

World War 3 may just be months away, with much of the middle east currently being blown apart by missiles and the locals setting their neighbours on fire, but the real news is that the Twinkie, the USA's primary contribution to world cuisine, could cease to be.
"You eat those?" I hear people ask. Hell no. Never eaten one in my life. There's something about their unnatural, chemical-yellow colour and that they have a half-life rather than a use-by date that just sets off one too many alarm-bells.
In fact, I'm pretty sure that if you read the print on the pack, you'll find asbestos to be a key ingredient.
Even John McClane can't keep one down, and he took out a building full of terrorists with nothing but his bare feet and a Santa hat.
Which leads to my point: Without the Twinkie, there are SO many lines from SO many classic movies that future generations just a

Tolkien was, undeniably, a genius, but, for the love of creativity and dynamism; read another f**king book, people.
There's a world of culture, history and myth out there to seek inspiration from! Fantasy should be an exciting, twisted reflection of the world around us, not an endless stream of pirated Lord of the Rings DVDs.

The first thing I had to do was create a sample. What would the pages look like? What is a Killbook?
In the story, before Gabriel breaks out of Level-9, he is introduced to an "Agent-O, a character that gives Gabriel the documents needed to begin this revenge quest. Inside of the documents are bios and information on all of the characters Gabriel will meet/team-up with/or kill.

5 Comic Book Truths (that I don't think are true)There are lots of tips, chestnuts, and other pieces of advice that I've heard over the years--tidbits of wisdom passed on from one generation to the next, from professional to professor to prospective student. Some of them are drawing tips, some of them are tricks to dealing with publishers, and some are general guidelines on how to survive in comics. Most of them are useful and true and will stand the test of time, but a few of them have become hackneyed platitudes and have gone unquestioned for too long. Here are 5 that I'm questioning...5 Comic Book Truths (that I don't think are true)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
1. READERS WILL ONLY LOOK AT A PANEL FOR 5 SECONDS, SO DON'T SWEAT IT TOO MUCH.
I understand the intention of this bit of wisdom, and I mostly agree with it: drawing great interiors is important, but at the same time, you don't want to get bogged down with small details that most readers won't even notice.
But here's my concern with this: if you treat every panel like it's disposable, then you're less likely to make an impact with reader
Batfleck Forever. In keeping with the apparent theme of casting actors whose presence just don’t match the characters they’re meant to be portraying: the role of Lex Luthor in the next Superman flick has now been filled.Batfleck Forever.11 months ago in Personal More Like This
Lex Luthor: A manipulative mastermind. A hugely successful industrialist. A brilliant businessman apparently born to be both the brains and figurehead of a multinational mega corporation. A man whose actions got him all the way to the White House. A man who is as charming and commanding as he is evil and power-hungry.
A man being played by Jesse Eisenberg, the weedy guy that played Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network……and whose voice sounds like a duck being raped by a chipmunk.

Ever since "Lorcraft" cropped up in Sequential Art, I've been working on an RPG system for an actual, pen-and-paper Lorcraft game and have a few really good ideas that should (in theory) work.
It's a ways off yet, though. It's the kind of thing that'll need some serious playtesting, and I have a zillion other projects to conclude first (LITTLEVICTORYLITTLEVICTORYLITTLEVICTORY!)
