Protecting Your Legal Rights - DigitallyRecently I saw a notice from a fellow deviant about finding some of his photos online. Stolen from DA where he generously shares them to be used on a porn site. Obviously this is illegal, a violation of copyright law. DeviantART makes that perfectly clear in the terms and conditions when you sign up, and you are legally bound by them even if you just click "I Accept" without reading them. Small consolation to an artist who must now fight to have his work protected under the law. Another deviant, also a photographer, has a very serious discussion on his page about it. You can find that discussion here http://jeanluc44.deviantart.com/journal/25899401/.
Why should we care about this? Well I'll give you two reasons. Any artist will never share their work if it will be stolen, so where will you go to find quality art like this for free hmm? Just as bad, the artists that do share their work are forced to watermark it in an attempt to prevent theft. Watermarks are like locks on a door, they a

Feedback Frenzy! (Comment Contest)
A group of very, very devious deviants at FeedbackFrenzy are hosting
a comment/critique contest as part of projecteducate: Feedback Week!
The contest is now closed to entrants and will start on Monday July 2nd!
PE Feedback: Welcome and FEEDBACK FRENZY!
Check out the full contest rules and guidelines!
WHAT: "Feedback Frenzy" is a week-long game that ANYONE (yes, even YOU!) can play. The goals are ① to step outside your comfort zone and practice giving feedback to others, even if not in your own genre, ② to meet new deviants from across dA, an
10 Myths About IntrovertsI came across this list recently and felt like sharing it. I am an introvert, myself. I found myself completely agreeing with all of these things !!10 Myths About Introverts3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Myth #1 Introverts don't like to talk.
This is not true. Introverts just don't talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won't shut up for days.
Myth #2 Introverts are shy.
Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don't interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don't worry about being polite.
Myth #3 Introverts are rude.
Introverts often don't see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure t

Art Theft *Please Read* *Update*I came across a post on FB that said that you can now drag and drop images into Google image search to find them (it's a more reliable way than typing key words).Art Theft *Please Read* *Update*2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I decided to do this with my images and alot of them have been used on blogs etc. Okay, that does piss me off when people don't credit me but at least they're not making money out of my work.
Then I came across this site selling my work: http://pixersize.com/prints-and-posters/retromantic
My work on the site is here: http://pixersize.com/prints-and-posters/kitty-prayer-36731229
I recognise other deviants work there too but I'm not sure who the deviants are.
If anyone is going to make money out of my work, it's me, or anyone I give authorisation to. Not some random website on the internet.
I'm in the process of finding out how to report my work etc.
Please spread the word as I think alot of deviant artists have been ripped off and it's disgusting and I can't find out who all the deviants are by myself.
We are World-Changing ArtisansI recently came across some issues that had seem to occur within the art world, and it made me want to share my personal thoughts with other artists, as it makes me wonder how many artists feel this way.We are World-Changing Artisans3 years ago in Articles & Interviews More Like This
These are views such as the world being a mean, heartless place for artists, and the pressure to perform art over enjoying it, and the constant competition between other fellow artists.
Personally, I agree the world isn't always nice, but I also think that it is in a person's hands to make the world a nice place for them to live in. After writing my first article on motivation and loving the work that an artist does, I received comments from others telling me how it made them think about the way that they viewed their work, especially in a technical manner. True, in order to become a successful artist you have to progress technically, but although those pieces may not be technically sound in your eyes, doesn't mean that the imagination and vision isn't there. Technical proficiency is f

He hadn't spoken a word until they passed the electronics aisle in the supermarket. They had their arms linked as they pushed the trolley between them and she felt a gentle tug as he slowed to a halt. He muttered something and she gently persuaded him to speak up.
'Convection...microwave.....' He mused in barely more than a whisper. Then he turned watery blue eyes on her, imploringly.
'I used to know what those words meant.' He explained helplessly. Her voice tripped on something and in the end she swallowed the words of comfort back down and patted his arm.
'We all forget things.'
He smiled vaguely at her, 'You all remember them eventually though.'

A Short Side-Story with Bonegrinder
Chapter One: Define Monster
The monsters were on his tail. No matter how fast he ran they still were right behind him. For days, he had been trying to evade them. He ran up hills, through briars, jumped over logs, and stopped for nothing. His body was exhausted from lack of sleep and every muscle ached. Stumbling over his own feet, he nearly lost his balance but he quickly regained it. The huge forest he had been dashing through for nearly two days seemed almost endless. There was no possible escape. Would this chase ever end?
Get back here, you lowly slave! The guard on the appaloosa yelled angrily, urging his horse to go faster. He had a thick, red beard and carried a large sword at his side. There was a patch covering his right eye making his appearance look even more horrible. Wrinkles covered his forehead, and a smoke hanged from the corner of his mouth.
You have caused our master enough trouble already!
September Feature 2012How is everyone!??September Feature 20122 years ago in Personal More Like This
So much for doing these features every month! I'm so terrible with blogs, haha. T__T
Just thought I'd give everyone a quick update on what's happening with my photography lately...
My course that I started at the beginning of last year is due to finish in November, I can't wait! No more assignments, finally!! Haha.
I have recently started doing a bit of shooting for Lily + Minx, a local fashion store where I live. So that tends to add to my workload each week these days.
I also have some really cool projects planned for the upcoming months! I don't want to give anything away, but they're very different from the work I usually do. SO I am beyond excited to start!
Oh and I will be once again going to Hong Kong & China next February! Can't wait!!
So anyway, here are some interesting works I've stumbled across in the last week, love them!!
Around the block and back to dAI've been on other art sharing sites. But in the end I always come back to dA.Around the block and back to dA3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Why? I don't really think dA offers anything special in terms of browsing features, options, or other amenities. Its forums are just like any other forums. Frankly its journal and news system has become a machine for spewing out drama.
But there's something special about its people.
Somehow dA has managed to bring together people from all around the world who share a common appreciation for art; people who show their appreciation for art either by faving, watching and supporting other artists or by contributing their own artworks and striving towards improving their art.
People here don't have a concept of a "repost." To us, it's simply art theft. If you didn't make it from scratch from your own two hands, don't even attempt to put your name on it and pass it off as your creation here.
People here don't obsess over front page. We don't give thank you speeches for getting on front page as if it's some life ch

It crashes on me like an ocean blue, heavy breeze.
There was a reason I drank this coffee,
and didn't go to bed, and let this day end unfulfilled
only to promise on the new day that I'll do better.
In this writing, deception comes to me saying I've done enough,
but I haven't! I probably never have!
There is a voice that needs to scream out,
and hands that need to be balled into fists,
though I don't know what they're supposed to punch.
Ah, my hand hurts from this writing,
just like I always wanted;
after all, I've said too many times to write until it hurts,
but how many times have I really meant that?
I need to act, lest I learn the hard way
that you've only got one life;
everyday I must be one step closer to my own promise land.
It's like everyday I get a glimpse―a small glimpse―
of what waits for me, and now I realize
that it waits for me, not vise versa;
the light at the end doesn't come to you; you walk

Instead of "Mom", she's gonna call me "Point B." Because that way, she knows that no matter what happens, at least she can always find her way to me. And I'm going to paint the solar system on the back of her hands so that she has to learn the entire universe before she can say "Oh, I know that like the back of my hand."
She's gonna learn that this life will hit you, hard, in the face, wait for you to get back up so it can kick you in the stomach. But getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air. There is hurt, here, that cannot be fixed by band-aids or poetry, so the first time she realizes that Wonder-woman isn't coming, I'll make sure she knows she doesn't have to wear the cape all by herself. Because no matter how wide you stretch your fingers, your hands will always be too small to ca
