"You spoke!" Carina and Desmond projected together.
"Yes, Mama," Martin grinned again.
"Mama?" the Worrells cried.
"Yes, "mama"... Martin is our son."
Desmond's hand poked out of the blankets behind Carina and signed, "Greetings, earthlings."
Carina stifled a giggle as she translated. "Desmond says, 'Greetings Earthlings.' He can't speak like we do, so I taught him sign language. And, ya, he's an alien."
Aunt Lydia was the first to regain her senses. "Star Wars has come to my house! My god, girl, you are just full of surprises!" She reached out and gingerly touched Martin's arm.
"Star Wars..." Laurence Worrell said weakly.

Chapter Two: Dissent
Desmond's hand shot out and grabbed the facehugger in midair. Both children were screaming, and the cries of confusion from the offworld xenomorphs were just as piercing in Desmond's head.
"Silence!" he roared aloud and in his mind as he struggled to keep his hold on the desperately thrashing hugger firm without injuring it.
"You will follow my commands without question or hesitation, all of you!" he barked, "You drones from this hive will guide my warriors to any cocooned prey and any eggs. All are to be brought outside ALIVE, is that understood?"
None dared disobey. Desmond shot a last snarl at the offworlders, then said to Patrick, "Please free the male youngling and bring him outside."
The hugger continued to struggle in his hand, but the little girl stopped fighting Desmond and held onto him instead.
"You saved my brother," she whispered, looking up into his alien face, "Why?"
"His death was unnecessary.... and I told you I was here to help. I dislike lying."

Chapter Three: Of Arrogance and Compassion
In which the truth comes to light concerning the human children, and the ruler of an entire planet harbors doubts...
Several warriors led the new arrivals off with heavy hearts. It went against the xenomorph mindset to send away brothers. The aliens walked in silence, with no casual conversation during the several hours it took to trek to the far caves. Just before reaching their destination, the first host human awoke and shrieked as the new larva punched its way free. All the xenos stopped to clean the newborn and welcome him. They assisted in removing the tattered clothing from the dead host, giving the larva easier access to the more tender meat of the punctured torso.
The drones began to try and discuss their situation with the Hiveworld warriors.

Miransa of the House of Ulrok the Lesser, wife of Desmond the Wise of the First Hive of the World, looked out over the sea from her perch in the ancient redfruit tree. Movement in the water past the breakers signaled the return of the hunting party.
"I see them," she called down to her eldest son, Raymond, who was gathering the fruit his mother had thrown down to him in baskets.
"Great," he stood below her, arms open, "jump!"
"You are crazy," she laughed and shifted around to begin her descent.
"My own mother doesn't trust me! I should be hurt."
"But you aren't, so just leave that notion alone, child."

A Hive Divergent Chapter Four: Boiling Point
Tarshessa brought her sons Henry, Jarsul, and Patrick with her on her next trip to the guest housing.
"I thought the guards were supposed to stay outside," one of the women scowled.

Lydia Washington happily sipped the chilled fruit juice that the black, eyeless killer insectoid handed her.
"You got yourself some too, I hope," she said as he settled down in the warm salt water at her side.
"I had some earlier today, thanks Auntie. This IS very nice. The resin holds the heat in really well."
They were relaxing in the oval tub the hive had constructed for Lydia just in from the tide line on the shore of the Great Western Sea. Lydia enjoyed the ocean, but all were concerned for the elderly human's safety. Her grandnephew Desmond had come up with the idea, based on the large tub that used to grace his wife's home back on earth. Aunt Lydia could enjoy the salt air and the roar of the ocean in safety and comfort. It was considered a great honor to make Lydia's life as pleasant as possible. She was beloved by all, respected for her wisdom and appreciated for her quick wit and kind words.
