A new place for RoleplayingHi folks!
For those of you that are big nerds like me and like to Roleplay, read on!
Those that are interested but not sure... read on if you'd like!
Those that hate Roleplay (RP) or just don't care for it... keep browsin' art!
I grew up on the internet as a teenager doing rules-based but still freeform live chat type Roleplaying. It was great fun and I had a blast! Sadly there are not many places around that have that sort of thing anymore so I made a place. It is MUCK based, which means it's text based RP, sort of in a chat setting. It's a bit like role-playing in a living book, where you connect and it's all text, but each area is described and you can move around the textual world.
My Roleplay World is called Haezyn. Haezyn is sorta/kinda like an alternate earth with a bit of magic and talking critters.
- Haezyn has some 'base rules' that define the Lore of Haezyn and help create guidelines, to prevent unfair power-playing and so that there is some w

I felt a cold pull at my stomach. Something else was coming, re-awakened by the presence of Captain.
Something worse than the shuffling noises of the red beasts outside. The sound of falling cannonball.
Whatever that fleshy monstrosity was, it cared not for me, but it's presence here led ANNIE straight to me.
...And it came to pass on the morrow, that the goddess in the machine came upon me and she wanted vengeance.
She was online, the thermonuclear bombardment of the core databank cube had failed to shut her down.
She was still alive, after all these years.
The explosive crash-landing of the hunter machine through the old roof drew THEIR attention.
I was now between two wild beasts, out for my blood.
What was Protocol 1-1-3?
Memories of Directorate weapon codes lingered in my mind, poisoning my thought pattern.
Could it be?
...So this was to be my death.
ANNIE had let me know that she

I think around the second stage, I met another person, and we played through the game all the way to the end. Despite having known the game was designed around random meetings with other people online, I always thought it'd just be kind of hindrance or possibly annoying to have someone else mucking around in my lonely desert toilings.
'Davideogamer'! If you are out there somewhere, I hope you realize you made what would have been an awesome game experience into a FREAKING UNBELIEVABLE ONE.
To ANYONE who plays Journey on the PS3.. I hope that your first run through is met with another traveler, because you would not believe the sort of experience the whole thing evolves into. In many ways, it does this without you even realizing it. I could wax poetic about it for a paragraph but like many reviews I read about it on the net, I concur, the

Steven, We get it. You don't have to knock us over the head.
This is your homage to Tennant-era Dr Who. Because you know that fans (GIRLS!) like Tennant-era Who.
But you still don’t know why. You can’t figure it out.
Let me give you a hint: It’s not robots, or explosions, or romance with the Doctor that made us like RTD Who. It’s not witty banter. It’s not even, and especially not your brand of ~*feminism!*~ (Hey! You dumb broads want feminism? have two women! Lesbians! And they kiss! And they kick ass with swords! Yeah! Bechdel or something! pow pow MEN ARE PIGS!)
We liked Tennant-era Who because it had meaning. It had moral. It had story. Not random, oh-so-witty plot twists. Not bizzare mysteries that drag on for far too long while the characters stand around unable to solve simple riddles. It had heart. You stripped it of its heart when you took over the show and now you want to somehow put it back in.
I mean, go ahead and try. Tha

So I'm listening to a fantastic podcast called The History of England by David Crowther, which talks about said history from the Anglo Saxons and all the way through to the Royal dynasties. I implore you to have a listen to it if you can its absolutely fascinating to listen to when working. I'm listening to it through itunes but I'm sure he'll have links on his website, which is full of insightful references to what he talks about in the show, you can check it out here: http://historyofengland.typepad.com/blog/
This guy is brilliant!!
Anyway, I was listening to an episode about the relationship between Henry II and Thomas Becket,The Archbishop of Canterbury who was Canonised after being murdered at his altar after a misunderstanding in which four Knights mistook the King's meaning when he mentioned he wished he could be rid of him. And after what Mr. Crowther enlightened me to, I don't blame him. He was a bit

Losing Altitude: A Very Birdy BookGather 'round, my bird and bird-admiring friends!Losing Altitude: A Very Birdy Book2 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you've spent any amount of time in my gallery, I'm sure you have guessed by now that I am passionate about birds. I have been since I was a toddler-- literally-- and saving birds through awareness has always been a goal of mine. It's one reason I am honored to announce that my work along with the work of many other very talented artists are going to be featured in a book called "Losing Altitude". It is an art book, showcasing endangered bird species that need help. One of the biggest hurdles facing endangered birds and steps to help them is awareness-- it's true that we are often bombarded with imagery of more charismatic, well-known animals such as leopards, tigers, and pandas. All of them are very deserving of our help, but birds are also facing some serious issues and not many people know about it.
That's one reason a book like this is pretty awesome. The more well known the book gets, the better the chances that people will see--

Inspiration: What Did Princess Ukok Look Like?Found here at the Mary SueInspiration: What Did Princess Ukok Look Like?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The mummified remains of "Princess" Ukok, as the scientists named her, was discovered nearly twenty years ago in the Altai mountain range in East-Central Asia. Kept for all that time in Novosibirsk, Russia, it was not until very recently that she's been revealed to the rest of us. But among the general wonder and fascination that always comes with finding mummified and ancient bodies, Princess Ukok has another: She's covered in remarkably preserved, completely badass tattoos.
People have been tattooing themselves and each other for almost as long as humanity has existed; it just seems embedded in human nature to adorn our bodies in one way or another, whether through cheap drugstore eyeshadow or ancient ritual inking.
Princess Ukok and her warriors are believed to be members of the Pazyryk nomads who existed as early as the 5th century BC when they were

I've been hired by an actual company to do actual art. With a contract and everything. It's not permanent, but there is legal paperwork ... so that has to mean something. One of these legal papers means none of the finished art, none of the sketches, and none of the any part of it will be here. But that's pretty standard.
I'm going to let myself be excited about this. I get to work with the husband, which I always love, and the guy I'm working for is great. Not only does he have a ton of interesting concepts and thoughts running about in his head, but he has this idea that I really *really* like.
He doesn't want objectified, unrealistic women with exaggerated anatomy and bikini-armor -which is paradise to my artistic sensibilities. Not just that, but he was able to bring up the topic, without blinking and without apology, in front of a woman. It actually took a while for that bit of conversation to sink in.
I never, in my lifetime, thought I'd hear something l

A Fat Female Superhero - Half WayWe've reached the halfway point for entries in the Fat Female Superhero contest. I must say, I am amazed at the support and commentary for such an event. I think that most people have realised that it's not about winning a prize, but about challenging the accepted norms of the industry and creating characters that we want to see represent us.A Fat Female Superhero - Half Way3 years ago in Personal More Like This
With such a loose contest structure, accepting any strong female protagonist who defies body conventions, I'm amazed at the diversity that has sprung up in the entries. I didn't want to constrain artists and have them create something that only I define as "fat". It was up to YOU to decide what the word "fat" and "fit" mean.
And really, "fat" is such a curious, loaded word. To many, it is an insult. "You're too fat." But everyone has fat. Some have a little, some have a lot. Some peopel interpreted the "fat female superhero" as someone who is overweight or obese. Some saw her as simply someone who has fat deposits on her body that exist outside he

Some advice on doing commissions, professional, commercial and contracted art.
Make sure you are paid what it's worth to you.
Do a test run on a portion of what is being asked of you before you say yes or no. Time yourself. Multiply that by the volume of work you have to do, so you know about how long it will take.
Once you've done that, multiply that time by the required minimum wage in your state/country. If you are being offered less than that, then you should inform the client. If the pay is not raised? Run. Head for the hills. This is a contractor that doesn't give a shit about you and is willing to sacrifice you, your time, and your dignity to get what they want.
If you are okay working for this rate, let them know that a pay rate less
