I Am Octus Chapter 2
Octus (still disguising himself with his "Newton" hologram) stared at his reflection in the bus window, vaguely aware of the conversions the other people on the bus were having.
"Newton," Ilana called. She was sitting on his right in the same bus seat as him.
When she got no response, she tried again. "Newton," she said, a little louder this time.
"What?" he asked, some-what annoyed, as his blank expression turned into a glare.
"You've been a million light years away since we left the art institute. Are you okay?"
she asked, concerned.
"Sure," he said, still glaring at the window.
"What's going on?" she asked.
Just then, Lance, who was sitting in a seat by himself behind Ilana and Octus, heard the radio.
"Meanwhile, in southern France, a series of strange occurrences" The radio reporter said, before being cut off as the volume of the other students conversions became louder.
Lance stood up and leaned over the top of Ilana and Octus' seat. "What are they saying?"

The New Today Page
When art news happens around the world, deviant artists are among the first to respond in the most evocative ways possible. We're proud to unveil the Today page — the new human and dynamically powered newspaper for the community that reflects the stories inside of deviantART as they pertain to art, fandom, pop culture, and world culture.
Designed to showcase a variety of content — including editorial pieces, Journals, contests, and even deviants new to the site, the Today page will reflect the undercurrent of what's happening now — both online and off.
The Today page will improve the accessibility of various areas on deviantART, creating new and easier ways for both our logged-in and logged-out audiences to enter the deviantART experience.

The More Menu
Previously, the site’s main menu could be found under the arrow drop-down in left corner of any page. We’ve often received feedback that it was too hard to find, and that its contents were overwhelming. In response to feedback from our recent Beta Testing release, we’ve taken the opportunity to re-evaluate how it displays.
The main menu has since been moved to the right of the search bar, and has been placed under a “More” heading, for easier discovery and usage. We’ve removed items that are already duplicated in other menus on the main navigation, so that you can find what yo

At the beginning of the week, the dT team worked on improving our internal development tools to increase efficiency. Then, on Wednesday, we let any staff members at the retreat pitch fun and exciting ideas for deviantART features that could be built in two days. After each feature idea was pitched, everyone from dT chose which projects they'd like to work on. Throughout the year, engineers primarily work on projects that are assigned to them, so sometimes it's important to turn the tables and let them choose projects in which they're most passionate and excited about.
The purpose of these two-day "hackathons" is to build and demonstrate a proofs of con

You’ve been hearing a lot about tags in the past few months, and we’re happy to announce that they’ve just been fully released to Beta Testers.
Tags create landing pages around topics — making it easier to discover related artwork, bringing together artists and art appreciators, and forming communities around common interests. As deviantART grows and creates new ways to discover great content, we believe tags will play an important role in better surfacing artwork.
Tag Your Deviations (and Collections)!
You now have the ability to tag your deviations and Collections. Tags added to your deviations will be publicly viewable -- this is a change from the previous use of keywords, which were private.

A new header for the mobile website has just been released to Beta Testers!
Our mobile website has always been a condensed version of the desktop site, but the header has been given a minor overhaul to be more mobile-friendly, and with a sleek new look to match.
Menu items have been updated for ease of access and use, providing a solid balance of clarity and functionality. Everything that was previously available through the menu accessed by tapping on the logo is still present, so everything you know and love is still one tap away.

Tags are our new way to label and create conversations around a topic. Tags can be used everywhere — in Status Updates, Collections, comments, deviation descriptions, or Journals. When clicked, you’ll discover a tag page full of content and activity around the topic.
As someone in the test audience for tags, you’re among the first to see the beginnings of our tag system and we’d appreciate your feedback -- both in terms of what you think so far, and where’d you’d like to see things go in the future.

Last week we set out to prank deviants by introducing a new and completely fake technology: thoughtART! With some hard work and a little magic from dT, thoughtART came to life.
The Idea Behind The Technology
For this project, we were inspired by the advanced technology in "Her," a movie about a new artificially intelligent operating system. After a ton of discussions, we decided to introduce a new piece of technology that can sync with deviants' brainwaves to search for or create art. In actuality, a drawing was selected at random from a group of deviations created beforehand by deviantART staff members using deviantART muro. When users saw the art being created with their minds, they were actually watching deviantART muro redraw the artwork.
At midnight on April 2

Manga Studio 5 EX includes all of the features of Manga Studio 5 and the following key extra features:
1. Multiple-Page Story Layouts. Manga Studio 5 EX now enables artists to create multi-page stories and projects. Manga Studio 5 EX’s Story layout option is ideal for manga and comic artists to streamline their creative process and easily access their story files in one convenient area. The Story option will allow you to specify the number of pages you want to work on, add and delete pages, change the order of pages, create a 2 page spread from a single file, organize your story through the story management window and finally save your story in a convenient project file.
2. Backwards file compatibility with Manga Studio 4 EX and 4 Debut. Manga Studio 5 EX allows you to import all of your Manga Studio 4 EX and 4 Debut files including your .CPG page files and your .CST story (project) files. The Manga S
Manga Studio 5 Ex reviewI have a chance to test out the new Manga Studio 5 Ex before Smith Micro launch it at SDCC this year. In Japan this is known as CLIP STUDIO from CELSYS, the same people behind Comics Studio/ Manga Studio. The layout of Manga Studio 5 pretty similar to ver4. I get used to it pretty quick. The new watercolor and oil paint brush are the major new function.Manga Studio 5 Ex review2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I import a line drawing from MS4Ex to MS5Ex and try out the new paint brush. The brush engine is much better then the old version. No more brush lagging when using bigger brush size. This drawing I working on is 11 x 8.5 @ 600dpi. Using brush range between 50 to 100 without problem. The paint brushes mimic the real brush quite well. It picks up the color already on paper and blend in the new color just like traditional watercolor brush did. The new layer blend mode is similar to Photoshop, multiply, screen, overlay, color burn and color dodge, etc are all included.

Las Vegas deviantMEET Wrap-Up!Las Vegas deviantMEET Wrap-Up!1 year ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Our first-ever deviantMEET in Las Vegas hit the jackpot!
On Sunday, December 1st, deviants were already lined up outside the doors at 5:00 PM, even though the event wasn't scheduled to start until 5:30! (A handful of amazingly dedicated super deviants arrived as early as 3:30 PM!) Far be it for us to wait to get the party started, so we opened the doors a little early, allowing the crowd to rush in. After signing our guestbook – we know, physical guestbooks are so Web 1.0, but they're great mementos! – our devious artists dispersed to play at the deviantART booth.
Stocked with six Intuos 5 Wacom tablets to play with, a 24-inch Cintiq, SketchBook Pro for sketching and painting, enough table seating for traditional drawing and portfolio review, and bags upon bags of free swag (including stress balls, deviantART Sharpies, and tons of free stickers), everyone found an awesome and creative way to spend their time.
