An incredible display of light over an incredible landscape. In the right of the image is the free-standing Monolith called "Temple of the Sun". It was a sunrise one feels privileged to witness.

While photographing this area during one sunset and one sunrise, there were many different lighting conditions provided. This image was taken after the sun had been blocked by clouds diffusing the light and evenly illuminating the desert.

The shots below were taken in direct sunlight. Notice the difference?

A view from Buffalo Point on Antelope Island State Park. I'd come for wildlife shots on this particular trip, but when you see an opportunity for a unique sunset you've got to take it.

Been feeling in a bit of a slump lately, I've got an adventure next weekend that should remedy that.

The immensely beautiful Zion Canyon as seen from the Angel's Landing trail. I've been to this spot on a couple of different occasions but never with camera and tripod. I knew there would be weather on this evening and was hoping for light just like this. After a grueling pace, our group made it to the top of the 1500 ft tall monolith, just in time for me to capture this view and beat the storm to the top.

Angel's Landing hike is one of the more famous in the National Park system. In a few points during the hike, there are vertical drops thousands of feet to the valley floor on either side. About a quarter mile is done scrambling up a path while clinging to chains the park service has kindly drilled into the sandstone.

I finally had chance to get out for some proper Autumn photography in my local area. I had staked this patch of aspens previously and returned in the morning for what I hoped would be a memorable sunrise.

More Autumn in Northern Utah:

I took a quick 3 day weekend to Zion National Park. The first day was beautiful shorts/ tee-shirt weather, the following two were overcast, cloudy, foggy, and rainy. My very favorite weather to be practicing photography.

The bridge where I took this is akin to a circus at either sunrise or sunset, with hordes of other photographers jostling for a shot at this iconic location. I took this one well into the morning after the crowd had cleared and had the whole bridge to myself!

A storm blew through the valley as we ascended Angel's Landing hike in Zion National Park. Fortunately this wasn't a lightning storm so I was able to hike and photograph with out worry.

Death Valley National Park.

This section of the park, specifically, is entitled, "Zabriskie Point." Comprised predominantly of Borax, a common ingredient of cleansers.
