A poet's broken words. Most people don't even knowA poet's broken words.3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
what a poet is nowadays.
It's not someone who writes poetry,
but someone with the ability
to create beautiful things
with pain and hate them.
I traded my soul for letters,
that I later transformed to words,
together they wrote out all my pain
but I'm starting to miss my soul.
All I have left is these broken w o r d s
and I wish I could call myself a poet
but to hate something beautiful,
before you have to create it.
How can you write when your words are broken
and your soul is missing?

and said that it resembled my beauty.
(The rose, now wilted and sad, lays at the bottom
of my hope chest, with everything else you gave me.)
I remember when the leaves changed in autumn
and you surprised me with a black cat, who had yellow eyes
(She's used up her nine lives, but I have one of
her kittens, a male look-a-like, who I named after you.)
I remember the time you lent me your jacket
even though you were colder then I had been.
(I wear it when I feel sad or alone
because it still smells like you)
I remember what you sang to me at our wedding.
while we were lost in our own little world.
(Your voice echoes through the halls at night
so I find myself never wanting to sleep)
I remember how your fingers would run thro

It spreads like an infection,
It is inevitable.
You can't hid from it.
You can't run from it.
It is always there.
It is what you see.
What you hear.
What you speak.
What you think.
What you breathe.
What you feel.
Sometimes it's painful,
but worth the sacrifice.
Sometimes it's depressing,
still the high is rewarding.
It is so invigorating,
It is so unpredictable,
It is a cosmic concept.
But so difficult to fathom its meaning.
Do you know what it is?
It is very addicting.
So worth all the agony and suffering.
It is my favorite drug.

the almost mute speech
of my heart pounding
with increasing strength
as I get closer to you,
how can I expect to ever write
something more than nonsense?
Life is nothing but a dream,
so why is it I can't sleep?
Have I become an insomniac
in the infinite dream of existence?
I might be just a thought
in the dark abyss we call life.
Still I like to believe that I am
the most optimistic pessimist
you'll ever meet.
Even though I do my best
to be the poet you once told me
you would never understand
but I know that you'll always love,
I can't decide who is it that really betrayed me.
It could be my words, unable to express
the deep feelings I make myself believe I own.
Or it could be my heart, which never really had the ability
to make me feel as broken as you.
You are sitting alone in your room
muttering words that you'll later forget,
muttering words that will always hurt you.
Bleeding feelings or bleeding words,
will always be the same.

the missing instrument of your band...
And then, you sang me out loud,
Beacause, I'm the most important word of your song...

That raw emotion that poets dare to frolic with
That magical commodity that fable tellers dare to mangle with
That filler of voids that we individuals strive to understand
As we walk down life's foot path with open hands.
For some, love is merely a word blended into this achromatic world in black and white
Perishing in the gutter alongside with our homeless hopes and our banished dreams lying out of sight
For some, love is more frightening than pain, than misery, than death
They learn to fear the angel bearing crimson heart shaped arrows rather than the reaper of souls, the agent of death.
For some, love is the closest substance they can get to magic
They say the mere scent of it leads one to divine empyreans where loves resplendence lights out everything tragic
For some, love is as crucial as the air we breathe, day in day out
They say that it revitalises the soul, the spirit and the heart with angels blessings slaying fear and doubt.
But I say, love shouldn't be neglected and

Borderlines intersect without a thought,
Drug affects parents that constantly fought,
Opposite arrows eventually point the same way,
I have a thought however a contradiction I say,
I watch two lanes become one,
Two cars race ahead, father vs son,
I experience depression, a cemented label,
Strength to stand, a three legged table,
Staring at traffic, they out preform my voice,
Second to second, decisions are their choice,
A library that ages use to be enough,
Now, my initial comments are my attempt to rebut,
Low confidence is more dangerous then a thought,
Unaware that, the negatives you only caught,
Role models offer advice and feedback,
They smile when they talk, am I wrong or is their something I lack?
Question float around me bed,
Overwhelmed, a desire to be dead,
No more choices, after you take your life,
God decides a destination; everything else is for the wife,

grate of grains, dirt, and rocks
in my knees after one more
careless mistake. A stumble,
a trip, a slip it didn't matter. I was
down. And I was alone vulnerable.
I didn't know how to take it. I stood,
and vowed never to fall again, and I tried
to forget how the blood from my mistake
bled out into the dust and dirt, letting
it run away from me like I had
tried to do to them, times before.
It was inevitable that I would fall
again and again, no matter how close I
walked to the grass, or how slow, the
sidewalk would always catch up to
Then you came along. And with
your strong arms I felt I knew, you
pulled me to my feet, and whispered me
words of encouragement, but then you
pushed me. I hit the ground once more, but
this time your hand was waiting to help
me up. We repeated it over and over, and
though my knees were as torn as ever, somehow
the sidewalk didn't terrify me any longer.
That was the summer I learned how to fall, and

Welcome to my world.
You'll never fit in my world.
You'll never understand what goes on.
You'll never adapt to its environment.
Welcome to my world.
Welcome to my world.
Where the ruler is I.
Where you are a part.
Where sometimes you aren't.
Welcome to my world.
Where my thoughts settle.
Where they take shape.
Where I take action.
Welcome to my world.
Where you can't interfere.
Where I can't be changed.
Where you think of the impossible.
Where I think of possibilities.
Where you can be changed in my likings.
Where I can't be changed in your likings.
Welcome to my world.
Welcome to the place where everything is possible,
No nightmares, no dreams,
Just fantasy out of reality.
Welcome to my world.
Where possibilities are endless for me.
Where my dreams can be accomplished.
Where failure isn't an option.
Welcome, to my world.

But my words are mine
Yet you steal them,
And never let them go.
Every love poem isn't about you
Every dark poem isn't because by you
You don't inspire all my words

But the worst part of it all
Is that I can't give myself
What I really want
Because next time you steal
My poems, you'll look down
And see it in a love poem.
And the terrible thing is, I don't know what you'd do.
Really, all I want
Write your name down

Father, if it is possible, let this cup be taken from me,
But not my will, but yours be done.
Tonight, in the garden, I will drink this bitter cup.
You could be anything, you'd be my everything.
But I am done with living in the shadow of your cross.
I take my heart in my right hand and I crucify it.
I take back everything that I gave to you;
The color that I bled into you fading away,
And a thousand times I'll pay for what I did to you,
What I did for you.
Living in your light made me forget how to shine,
So tonight, and every night after,
This love will die.
I know you love me, baby,
I know you loved me, baby.

True happiness, never allowed.
Trapped behind smoke away from light,
Nothing I ever do is right.
Everything I touch turns to rust
And my hopes fade into the dust.
So run away so very far,
Or you'll be trapped inside my scar.
And don't you say.
I am always here for you.
It's all in vain,
I live in pain.
That is all that I can hold true.
I'm trapped behind this iron gate,
Imprisoned by despair and hate.
I held the key once in my hand,
But it fall apart to bits of sand.
I'll spend my days strewn on the ground,
No helpings hands ever to be found.
And it will always be this way,
No matter what I do or say.
From my decay,
I fuck up everything I do.
Leave me here,
And don't come near.
The decay might just spread to you.
FearIt's a simple thingFear4 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
Something that builds up for years
It's a thing that keeps you on edge
It's all your fears
Some people hate spiders and bugs
And how they creep and crawl
From the small ones to the big ones
They watch you hiding on the wall
Many people are afraid of the dark
Because you never really know
All the things that darkness keeps secret
And all the things that don't show
Some people don't like big animals
From all the creatures from far and wide
Wolves, Tigers, Bears, Lions
All of them would hurt you till you died
Most people hate to think of blood
The thought and the sight makes skin crawl
It's not that it's dangerous
But it's disgusting all-in-all
Anything can scare a person
People have many fears
Things that can break you down
Into many shakes and tears
Death, love, poison, commitment
They are fears too
Anything from death
Too an "I love you"
Worms that crawl under your skin
Thoughts to make the blood run cold
Turn your skin pale
You are everything but feeling bold

The one who sang a sad song, but didn't understand
She covered her hands in ink
She pressed them to smooth paper
And there it was: an identity
I miss the girl who twirled
And gave her mother butterfly kisses with soft full eyelashes
She loved the sound of the train at night
Calling her into the distance
I miss the girl who laughed a big laugh
And cried for that baby mouse
Cold and dead on the sidewalk
She lifted him and dug his little grave
I miss the girl who shouted to the heavens
"I am brilliant, world! I am brilliant!"
