i came across a doa thread quite a while ago where people were discussing what is the best way to make long nails for dolls. someone suggested straws. so i did this today for fun, and made a tutorial if anyone's interested to try it out. it isn't that difficult to figure out how to do, but i figured some photos won't hurt. the only part that i had to think about how to do was which direction to cut the straw to get that natural curve nails have.

the hand used here is a female lishe hand. gabby is a cp dreaming lishe boy, and he normally wears male cp hands, but i did the nails on the girl hands, so i was lazy and just swapped the female hands onto him for some photos.

Tiyana's wig came last week, but I didn't have time for photos. I can't really take proper full body shots of her cos she's on Jack's body (not to mention Fdoll bodies have such SMALL hands), but at least her hair is vaguely like how I draw her. I need to figure out how to braid her wig more nicely, because although it looks fine here, it's a mess of hair at the back. :/ Anyway, I got sick of having her wear a scarf, so I colour-edited the body to make it look like it matched a bit better here. On another note, I found photos of a Vivien head on supia old body on doa and I'm pretty sure it's the right body to get, proportion wise. I'm probably going to just hope for the best for resin match.

Ah yes. I was thinking. Tiyana's nickname might be Tee. Or Yana. I prefer Tee though. Haha.

I added stuff to his faceup yesterday, cos I didn't want to do a new one when I have a slot for cats10's faceup (soon? I think her list is moving slowly now, so I've not being informed to send him off). So now he has a frozenwings/gardenofmoons faceup with like, a bunch of add-ons by me (all line work, no pastel, haha, cos I didn't want to seal).

First person to comment correctly what I did to his faceup (any part will do. I added quite a bit of stuff, but just ONE is enough) gets a photo dedicated to them...after I get my new lens. (Just ordered from Challenger, which said it'll arrive in about 2 weeks time). (:

Anyway, I adjusted his eye placement again. He's the only doll I have who doesn't have side-glancing eyes now. He gives me a lot of eye placement problems. I think I adjusted his eyes about 6-7 times already... whereas most of my dolls get their eyes placed in, adjusted, and left there.

Edited this and posted on my blog sometime ago, but didn't submit to dA, cos I wasn't sure if it was overly edited. Somehow though, I like this photo. The pose, the dark and saturated colours, the graininess, Hew's expression (or lackthereof).

I think the scariest people are the ones you don't expect to be scary. Maybe I'm just being overly cynical, and pessimistic, but I can't help but think about such things sometimes. The people who are always scary are still damn scary, but at least you expect it and got ready for it. I guess Hew's like that, because so far he seems to be the good twin, and me being me, all pessimistic and cynical, expects him to start dishing out shit soon.

But I guess you can also read the photo another way: that Sion (those are his hands) is the monster, and Hew is the good guy, if you kind of think of them being twins, and consider twins as 1 entity. *Shall not overanalyse my own photos.*

Zeke isn't really that sullen, once you get to know him. It's just his way of coping with his inability to stop talking nonsense to fill up space whenever he starts talking, because that's just how he is.

Anyway, I was quite surprised by how many people chose Zeke for the "Who would you adopt?" meme: [link] Zeke is an awesome character, which I keep forgetting, because Zeke the doll is not exactly the same as Zeke the character. Zeke the doll gives me problems sometimes. I chose the sculpt because of the lips, which on some days just look plain odd (of course on those days, photos are crappy and won't make it here :<) For me, the sculpt is a love-hate, because I find him really like Zeke some days, and other days, when he refuses to be photogenic, I can't see Zeke in him at all. So yes. I'm quite glad he seems more like Zeke today though.

Nothing much. I just realised Nat didn't have a proper close up after his new faceup, so I went to play with the colour balance of old photos. I'm still writing my doll profiles for my FAQ, which I started on quite a long time ago. Guess it's cos I want to include way too many things, haha.

I just came back from (NUS USP Oweek) camp not too long ago, and while sleeping in sleeping bags in the hall, my OG (Orientation Group) had a few people who decided to lay their sleeping bags in a flower petal pattern. Needless to say, it took up a lot of space, and cos I was sleeping at the side of the "flower", I got kicked a bit from the edges of the flower. D:

Oh yeah, I actually went a full round around the 6 of them, taking photos from each side, but I guess Nat looks the best/most naturally posed, so I chose the photo with Nat as the focus. >_< And I have to say seeing Cindia's photo of the tinies laying in a circle inspired me to do this shot But the floor in my house is tiled, so I had to photoshop the tile edges away...

I was debating putting this in colour or B&W, but B&W won. Which defeats the purpose of me putting Nat's short pink wig on Hew, really. But I like how he looks here. I think his usual wig obscures his right eye too much... Oh yeah, and the clothes here are from Tree Design too. I love the plaid shirt. My sister (for some reason) decided to smell the plaid shirt that Hew was wearing previously ([link]) and told me it smelled weird. And when I smelled this new one, it has a similar smell, which caused me to start wondering if it's some smell from the postal office or what...? Cos nothing else in my house has that odd smell. (My sister was jokingly saying, hey, your doll perspired!)

Oh yes, Hew's body (Little Monica type B) is shipping! So it should arrive sometime this weekend/next week.
