Girl PartsThere are about a million and one names for girl parts. I'm not even going to list the ones I DO know. But I find it a bit frustrating that there isn't a word that rolls off my tongue in a way that expresses how I feel about those precious areas.
I have sort of settled on "Pussy". To me, it is endearing, has an old charm, and is just a tad naughty.
Anyone who takes even a casual stroll through my gallery will see many shots of pussies. Close ups. Detailed close ups.
WTF you might ask.
Some years ago a model came in to shoot nudes and asked me not to shoot any images where her pussy lips showed. I asked her why since we were shooting NUDES! She said she thought her pussy was ugly. My heart sank. Why would a lovely young model ever be made to feel that ANY part of her anatomy was ugly? Where did that concept originate? What kept that belief alive? Who said what to her?
I told her I thought it was beautiful and asked her if I could take a photo, as I saw it, and show it to her. Much to my

Hope you all are having a lovely weekend? I am having a romantic evening of laundry and X factor tonight, after a day out yesterday in Birmingham watching the gymnastics world championships in Tumbling, Trampolining and DMT which was pretty awesome. The journey back was a little scary after seeing an accident and then driving through fog back to Derby. Will be hanging around in chat tonight, so poke in and say hello!
I have a feeling anyone who has had the privilege of featuring literature DDs has been where I am today. Whether the title Galley Director, Gallery Moderator or now "Community Volunteer" has been involved, one of our roles as volunteers is to select

Why Drive will be the movie that is remembered in years to come
Film Noir is a genre of “life in the shadows” movies that became popular in America during
the uncertain times of World War II. Westerns have remained a shorthand for the American
psyche with their sullen outsiders with a personal code of honor bucking the system.
Samurai films mirror the lone avenger protagonist, but set against a longing for a lost
society of incorruptible values. Now and again a notable contemporary noir or western or
samurai film emerges with little fanfare amidst all the commercial cacophony of the louder,
bolder, more spectacular action films that rule today’s box office. One such gem of film
blending all three genres flashed out of the shadows briefly in 2011. It’s called “Drive”

Know your Basics - Colour Theory (the manip way)Most of us have heard about Colour Theory - be it in school or on dA or as a term thrown about by someone somewhere. But what exactly is it? And how do you use it? This is what this article is striving to explain especially in regards to photomanipulation.Know your Basics - Colour Theory (the manip way)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The Technical Part
Thankfully, there's tons of reading material about colour theory. Starting with the wikipedia article on the subject (which seems rather dry and boring to be honest) and ranging to tutorials written by deviants for their fellow artists. Those are the ones I'd like to recommend to you to get started in colour theory:
Still too dry and technical?
Okay, let me put it this way: the use of colours in your artwork can determine its mood and atmosphere. If you do it well, it can draw in the viewer and make them see what you want them to see by putting emphasis on certain parts. Colour theory gives you a way to know in
Pure JoyThis year (2011) for the Holidays I followed Bentley on a great adventure. He'd seen me stressing out all year and he finally put his paw down. I canceled the plans I had originally made. And he made me follow my heart. Even though I had my doubts.. It turns out, Bentley is wise.Pure Joy3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Off we were to Mammoth Mountain, on some last minute plans. The type where you know things are being rushed and so they won't go well. But Bentley had faith. So first he enlisted my Mom, jeanpat because he prefers when she feeds him. She gives him too much in his bowl!
And Viktoria o-KOUKLA-o plays with him in the mornings if I'm still asleep, so she's pretty key to having fun.
And chris keeps the evening games of Settlers of Catan going until the wee hours, so no one interrupts him (Bentley) when he's sleeping!

Art Books/ResourcesBecause I have a surprising numer of people asking about this (and since I deleted the original post), here are the books I would recommend the most for those studying art. I understand that books are expensive (they take the place of me not being able to take art classes/go to art school), so remember that the best way to learn is to practice from what you see around you!Art Books/Resources3 years ago in Personal More Like This
With that said, these are the ones I have personally used and either live by or would heavily suggest:
•The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain - Betty Edwards (this book is absolutely brilliant for those of you just starting out. It's an ingenious resource if you haven't got your own way of doing things. It messed me up because I've been doing things and learning things my own way for years now, but for those of you getting back
How and Why To Credit Your Stock ProvidersHiya Darlings,How and Why To Credit Your Stock Providers3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Today I am going to tackle a subject that all photo manipulation artists should pay attention to. (Yes, this means you!) It is my hope that this article will save you the headache and trouble of getting a submission declined, having to delete your work, or worse; be sued by someone because of it.
Why Properly Crediting Stock Is Important
All artists know that the secret to a great manip is finding stock that is just right for the theme you are trying to convey. On there are literally thousands of fantastic high quality images that are absolutely free. Some of these images are even created by and featuring professional models and photographers. You could pay a lot of money for the rights to use the type of stock resources in your art that are found here free of charge. This is part of why is unique and an amazing place for artists to frequent.
You’ll find that a lot of art groups, including :iconmanip
Remembering RooDecember 26, 2011Remembering Roo3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well, I finally finished the video, I feel better now, it's been my therapy.
I tried to finish this a couple of weeks ago but it was too difficult trying to get through the song without losing it.
Today felt right, I spent much time yesterday, on Christmas, soul searching, coming to terms with life. Haley and I hung Roo's stocking on the tree next to his grave which somehow made us both feel better, Roo liked Christmas, more than the other cats and so we knew Christmas day would feel a bit sad without him here. To our surprise, it felt much different than sad, we talked about him openly and smiled a lot remembering him, we will never forget.
So today I decided to finish his video....
My 6 year old Haley says that Roo is singing this song to us from Rainbow Bridge...
December 5, 2011
It's been a week since Roo died and it's been a long week but we are ok.
I wanted to do more of a tribute to Roo since the last time I posted was an hour after his death.
The words belo

Training your eye is very important. To take your photography to the next level and grow as an artist, you need to know what looks good, have an open mind and build your own style.
Point at the first thing that attracts your attention (often being the brightest point in the image)
Try to mentally trace the path your eye takes around the image (it's like connecting the dots in order to discover the story, in this case)
Has the photographer used the rule of thirds? Or a different type of placing the elements in the image?
Has the photographer shot from his eye level? Or chose a different point of view?
What is the photographer trying to transmit with the image?
How has the photographer used the environment to tell the story?
How has the photographer used light?
Why does the image work?
Does the image evoke an emotional response in the viewer's eye?
From the above, which can be appli

Seems to be president John F. Kennedy but I have no idea what that has to do with Occupy LA. He was, of course, part of the 1%.
Another side of the plywood wall. Rasta religious iconography has nothing to do with the Occupy movement that I can determine except that the smell of marijuana was pervasive on all of my

Over the last week, Rocket has been recovering well! She has sphincter ontrol about 90% back, an she is walking and sliding around. She is still basically bunny hopping at times, and doesn't have the strength to stay up for liong, but she is on the road to recovery!
Thank you all for your kind wishes. It means so much to both of us!

So, I have for the last 4 years had a wonderful Yellow Lab Mixed with Terrier and Pitbull. She is a gorgeous dog, and one that I love dearly. We got her as a rescue when she was just a few months old, and quickly we found her name... "Rocket". She can jump straight up and down almost 6 feet, able to grab toys from way above our heads. However, this sadly may have been her downfall as well.
In the last week or so, she started displaying symptoms that were not healthy. First she was unable to hold her feces, and we assumed at first that it was a dietary i
Why People Hate ArtI found this talk very interesting and absolutely agreeable as it makes some sound arguments against some of the bullshit that's going on in the art world and how to go about remedying it.Why People Hate Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
From the video's description:
"Art is often nothing more than a footnote to a (poorly written) essay making an unsound argument that uses technical and scientific terms inappropriately and without justification in an attempt to apply a veneer of rigour over their steaming pile of banal observations and utter nonsense.
This talk is a criticism of that tendency in the art world.

2. Forgive your enemy, but remember the a##hole’s name.
